They basically became a "singles band" of sorts, kinda like In Flames post-Clayman (or after Jesper's departure, if you'd like to feel more charitable).

And that's fine, but let's not beat around the bush and try to pretend that they're still an "All Killer No Filler" band.

Code Orange is one of those bands where I could probably comb their discography and put together a playlist with one album-worth of songs that I like and then forget about the rest of their stuff. Then I could add the 1-3 decent tracks off each subsequent album, while ignoring all other forms of media they put out.

they already did that for us, it's called I Am King*, that album is a true rear end beater and really catered more to the hardcore scene with industrial, nu-metal metal influence (paving the way for bands like Varials, Spite, etc and bolstering bands like Harms Way) vs the washed up boring metalcore scene which is just Architects/BMTH worship and makes me wanna die

then they took a hard turn leaning into this alt-rock, WWE theme, matrix extras wardrobe stupid poo poo with dj scribbles and makes me wanna die

I don’t mean to sound bitter, cold, or cruel. But I am, so that’s how it comes out.
I probably stan The Parallel more than most here, but even if you were tepid on their last full tape, I think you should check out their three latest singles. They seem to be pivoting to a new sound, and I gotta say I'm into it. Today's one might be the best yet:

Didn’t get to see the stream so I snapped up both of the 7”s with the covers. Pretty cool concept though and the interview with Keith and Steve is a really pro watch.

For any Silent Planet fans, their live stream concert is available for the next 24 hours. It's like $10 and the mixing on it is unbelievably well done. Highly recommend.

Double posting to say that if you like Silent Planet, you should listen to S'efforcer. Their 2020 EP, Life}•{Less, is basically Silent Planet For Dummies. Their name/album are both annoying to look up, but they nail that sound

it's 12 tracks of ambient dreamy grey noise stuff

probably will be cool to fall asleep to but way less exciting than actual new music from them

Yeah, I'm a few tracks in and was circling back to warn everyone it's all "ambient" because I forgot to mention it. Its probably not something I'm gonna listen to more than once or twice, but it's something new to listen to

I've actually started to really enjoy the first 3 singles, but this one's probably the weakest song I've heard out of the band. I'm betting the new album will play well live, but I doubt it'll stick around in any sort of heavy rotation for me beyond the initial week or two from when it's released. That said, I still think I'm gonna like it more than The Here and Now

They're probably a little too straight-up melodic hardcore for this thread in all honesty but To Kill Achilles released an album last week and if you like Polaris you might also enjoy this sadboi yelling.

Yeah, that was actually pretty rad - don't really get your Polaris comparison, though, feels more similar to the start-10's melodic hardcore sound
