ive not really given Ableton much of a chance but been watching a ton of Limmy streams where he does fake adverts and stuff and I really like the way it lays stuff out. I played with ableton and ORCA a while back and it was remarkable how much the interface of the former looks like a 2001-era flash website which may explain why limmy is right at home in it

i’ve always appreciated using ableton. shame my talent is rubbish made a series of effect channels, each delaying the signal then bringing it down a step, like a delay pedal that reduces the pitch into the ground. love all the poo poo you can do it with it. but did find it confusing when swapping it between live and not live. never found that particularly intuitive

delay lines are really fun to mess about with, like putting reverbs in the feedback loop so each echo is smearier than the last, or pitch shifting up an octave and then down an octave so the pitch doesn't change but each loop through the audio gets more and more grotted up by the pitch shift algo.

 the delay effect with no feedback and 100% wet is just literally a delay on the signal and it’s good for loving around with sends when you allow the sends to send to themselves. idk why but felt like a revelation when I realised delay caused.. a delay. it’s usually used an echo so never thought about it that way. echinopsis fucked around with this message at 20:12 on Feb 12, 2021 |

Ah OK, when I see other posts with soundcloud links I have the little waveform thingy but mine isn't showing like that for me. I reallllly want to play this drum machine through a big PA, it thumps. Guitars and bass on that are all Native Instruments guitar rig 6, Metalzone on the guitars and a Rat on the bass

Thanks! I don't thing the guitar playing on that is anywhere near my best but I was going for a vibe more than anything. I've had that bass rhythm stuck in my head all day so I think I'm gonna finesse it into a whole track with more than just that one beat. Working my way through that SR16 video manual, so much thought went into this thing, even though more often than not I've been programming beats from Cubase and got my Maschine Mikro talking to it yesterday. The beat on that tune is all SR16 though. It's so weird that when I click on this page everyone else's stuff has soundcloud widget thing and mine is just a clicky link.
