He's got an incredibly good voice for variants on the one role. Not gonna blame him for sticking to it.

Yeah, he's the voice-actor equivalent of a character actor. And writers for the projects he's involved in seem to understand this. If Archer were given omnipotent powers in an alternate plane of existence, he would be exactly the same as The Master.

yeah, he has a niche and he fills it well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bg2R9GWtXEk he used to have a bit more range but he's honed in on his power role https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5q_cTrawKwc

Implying that H. Jon Benjamin ever has or will peak is ludicrous. besides, he peaked in h jon bejamin has a van.

Yeah, there’s some actors that do voice stuff where they have zero range but they fit a certain type of role so well that there’s basically no better casting. H Jon Benjamin, Lance Reddick, George Takei... actually of the people with no range that do VA I think H Jon Benjamin is the only one without a really successful live action career that drove the VA side of things. I remember seeing what he actually looked like after watching the first season of archer and being like Speaking of, anyone who hasn’t heard the story of the time he poo poo his car, look that up.

Imagine looking at someone who has had multiple long-running lead-role voice acting gigs and saying they peaked dozens of years ago, like I am, right now, saying he peaked on Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist. H Jon Benjamin is a treasure and we must protect him at all costs.

I'll say he peaked in Home Movies until he has a moment that surpasses him throwing the door open, raising a six pack, bellowing "LET THE GAMES BEGIN," then crashing to Earth when he remembers it is a children's birthday party

I don't know how you guys can think he didn't peak in home movies, which is goddamn hilarious. When his career highlights after that are an animated sitcom that's blander than plain oatmeal. And archer, which is just nothing but references to past jokes and catchphrases. Dude might be talented but his selection of work is dire

I think people are just using different definitions of peaked. His popularity was never higher than Archer, but I think many folks would point to different works as being where he was funniest and his comedic voice was able to shine through the most. Archer feels like a gig where he can only bring so much to the table, but does it extremely well in that capacity. Jon Benjamin Has a Van is purely his voice, but doesn't have a solid framework to hang it on and is more a loose gag-fest. But to me, Home Movies feels like a perfect balance of writing and character and premise providing a perfect framework for him to shine.

He actually came up in another thread that his Kronk and Brock voices sound almost the same, but you'd never mistake one for the other both because of the different way he plays them and the strong writing for both. His Buzz Lightyear also comes to mind; still almost the same but with the genuine cheesy earnestness that absolutely fits the criminally underserved cartoon.
