I know it's a joke but from what I read he was diagnosed with panic order/depression, left his first agency to go to a new one with some of the same staff from the old agency, and then they sold his contract back to the old agency, so he took them to court, which then saw him get blacklisted by music shows etc. All of his fan stuff was also flooded with hate comments, especially after it was announced he was dating. Not long after Goo Hara passed he posted this and some other things about all the hate comments on his fancafe

quote:

Title: “Seriously, I’m really”

It’s too much. I’m so tired.

How. How can it be this hard?

It’s just been so difficult.

Someone. Please save me.

I've only heard that one song of his I posted but it's cool he seems to be feeling better now at least

There’s definitely a good pop song somewhere in that Excalibur song but it’s so overproduced, there are so many ideas happening at once to mediocre effect. I kind of like the chorus.

I also like the part of the music video that’s just, gently caress medieval Europe, now we are on a desert planet with twin moons.

SM doesn't like to disband groups, so definitely not RV unless girls start leaving the company. Hell, f(x) technically still never disbanded and none of them are at SM any more. It'll probably be a while before we see any of the big groups disbanding anyway, imho. Plenty of 2nd gen groups promoted well into what people would consider the start of the 3rd gen, so I imagine the same will happen with 3rd gen groups.

Also that TRI.BE song is a bop imho. Good god Songsun looks so much like Yuri.

Feels like less groups are going to last now but the ones that do will last a long time. This will probably only be exacerbated by the consolidation of entertainment companies.

Contract negotiations doesn't always spell disbandment, anyway. Unless RBW was petty enough to say if you leave the company you can't be in the group, I can see MAMAMOO continuing even if Wheein and Hwasa don't renew-- unless the girls specifically don't want to continue promoting as a group. They'd likely just go the BEG route and only promote when all four members are available and feel like they have something worth doing.

I was just trying to reason who would be most likely to disband out of that generation. BP,RV and Twice are from big companies so I couldn't imagine those groups disbanding because those groups would probably be profitable no matter what. In using Suzy as precedence, Hwasa is probably the most popular member and if she was inclined, could find success outside of the group. Add on contract negotiations, I'd figure that MMM would be the most likely to disband if they were inclined to do so. But this is all just a thought exercise.

I didn't know Younha was still making music so I was pleasantly surprised to hear this on new releases:

I'd call them Kpop adjacent I guess. They did a debut performance on mcountdown and mnet's kpop channel uploaded it

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzGjUdCiYXo

That's probably one of the best Paramore covers I've seen, and Haley Williams is not an easy voice to cover in tone range or attitude. Honestly she does that song better and more faithful to the original than Haley.

They're really good all around for a rock group too. The singer's voice is strong and fits the rock sound well and she's confident as hell. Their drummer is sick and has a lot of good stuff on her youtube, everything from Twice to crazy prog rock group covers

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUXQnJnNHc8&t=63s

they traded signed albums with Dreamcatcher too :3:

https://twitter.com/jayoungRQ/status/1358773585687420928

I hope they can get enough exposure to build a fanbase because there's definitely room for a group between Babymetal and Dreamcatcher.

Rumour has it SNSD are discussing potential comeback plans for May-June if their schedules work out. As always one must take SNSD rumours with a grain of salt, but SM responded very quickly to the article to say nothing has been decided yet-- which is usually what they do when something is true. Otherwise they wouldn't have said poo poo.

So my hopes are high and waiting to be crushed. I honestly don't expect a full OT8 comeback until their 15th anniversary, but with Tiffany in Korea for the rest of the year as one of 3 Roxie Harts in an upcoming production of Chicago ... poo poo, it's possible.

I think it was more blizzard trying to follow Riot's lead on kpop but they really half assed it by not promoting it at all or anything. Mamamoo fans would have tuned in to hype it up instead of just having a bunch of western twitch kids saying garbage in chat. Song choice was good for western audience though.

The funnier thing was metallica also performed but in the middle of their song twitch DMCA'd the audio (of their own music!) and dubbed 8 bit music on it. This was on an official Twitch channel too. THAT was the highlight of blizzcon.

Blizzard is ridiculously huge in Korea, and it's the company's 30th this year. So while I wasn't surprised by a kpop group performing for Blizzcon, MAMAMOO is not who I would have expected when I first saw that performance lmfao. Good on them tbh, a lot of groups prob would have killed to get that spot.

Speaking of StarCraft + kpop I always love an excuse to remind everyone this commercial exists:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ub44GFsxUdI

SM had some deal with GomTV back in the days of Averatec-Intel Classic tournaments and whew lad was there ever a gently caress load of SNSD every commercial, and then this ad once the girls got the Intel brand deal. The dance versions of the Gee M/V you can find were GomTV exclusives, I believe. Gee and Brood War are forever entwined for me because of those days, I can't think of one without thinking of the other. I also can't GG someone in a game without thinking GEE GEE GEE GEE BABY BABY BABY tbqh. Telepathy by Younha also played every other drat ad break too. Man, Someday is such a great album.

God I miss the old days of pro Brood War being simulcast with Tasteless commentating. Then SCII came and ruined everything. Sad.

Anyway have this CF song for Intel in which the girls make a million mistakes b/c they likely filmed it the day they learned the choreo. It is comedy gold tbh. Also a bop.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBxW22JLUmg

whew this post was a good way to waste time while waiting for SHINee.

SC remastered has very much made this a thing again (unless you specifically meant wide broadcast of which I have no idea). BW is way bigger in Korea again and SC2 is kinda floundering.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ta-zZKfeZUA

SC was basically my entry point into kpop thanks to a good friend that worked as a Korean translator for Afreeca and Riot.
