've mentioned it countless times but NV providing two dictators to side with is something you won't see in many games. And the fact House and Caesar are total opposites is also really interesting because it's intentional. They embody different aspects of the appeal of autocracy.

To keep on the ranger armour for a bit, who the hell is R.B. Vickers? I can't find anything in Honest Hearts that says that this Vickers person owned the Desert Ranger Combat Armour before Clark had it and the works cited page only links to an archived post where Sawyer explains the meaning behind the Forgive Me Mama graffiti.

Wasn't there cut content in "The Legend of the Star" quiz where you were going to run into others hunting the stars, and the more star caps you had, you would attract "Star Hunters" to come after you? I swear I read that in a design doc once, was always bummed you didn't have a random encounter like that.

That would be an interesting mod to write - something like an extra faction whose only function is to gain rep whenever you add a star cap to your inventory, and send assassins after you when you reach a high enough threshold

New Vegas is such a great game strapped to a pretty dismal game engine. Whatever engine Bethesda's going to use for the new console(s), but with New Vegas + mods would be sooooo good. Fallout needs good weather/lighting effects more than the Elder Scrolls games.

Initially that might sound bad, but considering how much devtime BGS has been given between Fallout 4 and Starfield (and the claims that they've gone from ~100 to ~400 devs), it might actually turn out decently. As far as I'm aware, none of the engine's problems are irreparable, they're mostly the result of imperfect implementations and technical debt spurred by limited devtime. They sure don't have that problem now. Of course there's still the... writing issue.

I know that the main focus is the dam and the surrounding infrastructure, but man Caesar has pinned all of his hopes on taking over a few casino buildings. What is he even going to use the casinos for, since I doubt the Legion is pro-gambling? I was watching some videos of people experimenting with the functional post game mod, and the Legion and Independent endings are BLEAK. The atmosphere completely changes.

It is entirely possible that the Dam and New Vegas were originally supposed to be just stepping stones on the road to the Pacific ocean. After the first defeat Caesar might have started targeting New Vegas out of spite and stubborn. Caesar can, and did, easily make New Vegas symbol of decadence of his enemies, the Profligates. Conquering, subjugating and brutally changing this symbol is much more powerful than just conquering the Dam. And stopping to make New Vegas the new capital of the Legion gives glorious reason (/excuse) to stop the invasion of NCR for a while, to give the Legion time to gather strength for the next push.

I think the fish one is a reference to Cass having to explain to the courier what a fish was. The courier has never seen one before and neither has Cass, but she's heard stories. But it says DO NOT RESEARCH so I'm probably wrong, what the hell is it?
