I've been following my friend's son's band Polarized Eyes since their formation a couple of years ago,.

The three of them are only 16, and they are playing amazing original anarchistic punk.
They've just released their latest video, Blackout:

The Armed (although on the packages claiming to be sent from Kanye West) have been sending out tapes and usb sticks, which led down several strange rabbit holes, like this website https://bookofbookofdaniel.church/ and a discord channel https://discord.gg/FNXdeR58Ff where Gerard Butler repeats stuff daily.

Eventually it led to this new track being put together, by several people who received different parts of the song/video. It's not very punk or hardcore like usual... and it's called ultrapop.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYfsb8zkFUE

Whatever they are up to, I'm excited. Untitled and No Love were some of the best records those years.

I received the III thumbdrive and I haven't been able to stop listening to the new track since Adam put it all together in that video. Also the stuff people have turned up on the Discord is wild.

Yeah, when I got the thumbdrive I didn't really think much about it, but then I posted a photo of it to an FB group I'm in and everybody lost their poo poo since apparently I, II, and IV arrived several days before mine did.

We've also been talking about Ye Olde The Armed on the Discord and it's fun seeing the people who only know them from Untitled/Only Love and are just hearing stuff off of These Are Lights/Common Enemies.etc. for the first time now.

Today (February 4th), the Armed announced their fourth full-length, ULTRAPOP, for an April 16th release via Sargent House, and in doing so, they've finally revealed their lineup: Jonni Randall (vocals, bass), Chris Slorach (vocals, guitar), Dan Greene (guitar, vocals), Adam Vallely (guitar, vocals), Dan Stolarski (guitar, vocals), Clark Huge (synthesizers), Urian Hackney (drums), Cara Drolshagen (vocals) and, of course, Converge's ubiquitous drummer, Ben Koller.

:laffo:

I can just imagine the deep sigh from whoever had to type that into the CMS.

I’ll probably pick up the book since it looks like it’s gonna get some cool details, and I could always read more about Thursday and MCR. I know Geoff was recently on an awesome interview where he talks about kicking horse and recouping from his horrible needle drug addiction and staying a touring artist while clean. Just an absolute Angel of a person.

The term “sellout” seemed extremely dated to me even back in the 90’s. I suppose if you’re a hardcore anti-establishment band like RATM then it’s sort of a valid critique, but, like, I remember some kids at my high school calling Blink a sellout band after they cut their INCREDIBLE live album and it’s like... what? They were High School drop outs with literally zero prospects available to them until they became ultra famous rockstars through MTV and would eventually go on to inspire multiple generations and some of the biggest bands in pop culture. It was never their intention to stay underground and unheard of forever.

Like, Panic! at the Disco was just a Blink 182 cover band before someone was like “Brendon, you have a really good voice...”

Pretty sure they took that from the board? If I remember correctly, it was a handful of LA shows. They did some editing in post for sure, but I don't think it's just studio stuff mixed in with crowd noise and the zillion hidden tracks of dick jokes and between song banter.

That’s absolutely incredible. That video starts as weird as it can get and ends weirder.

I hyped myself way the gently caress up because only love is so good.

And somehow everything they release is getting me more and more hyped up. That kick over once they start spitting was unbelievably perfect.

Both songs they released are really really fantastic, but I also hope there’s some stuff like night city aliens on the album too. That song is so good.

I don’t think I’ll ever forgive myself for missing them when they played St Vitus on their only love tour. Wasn’t really into them yet as I hadn’t given only love a full listen. I had the chance to go too.
