If a friendly element is pinned down, presenting the enemy with an even juicier target doesn't improve the situation. I don't know why this is so hard to understand. You can "draw enemy fire" by attempting to accomplish something such as flanking, but getting shot at itself isn't the end goal. Same thing with movement to contact. Often you are shot at first, but the desired effect is to spot the enemy first. That, standing in the fatal funnel, double door kick weirdness, following your team in after losing all situational awareness as the door closed behind them and finding “oh, here they are!” while gun up, just... I’m not sure what was done right in the video beyond maybe they showed up on time.

what unit is this bad, but also allowed to do shoot houses with live ammo? Literally everything is done wrong. We only ever did shoot houses with sim rounds.

In a better quality video you can see 10th Mountain patches. If this is on Drum then I probably did this exact shoot house. The short room is behind the boards they had up. We did clear this with live rounds, after doing dry and blank iterations though. And we didn't flag everyone like the cameraman here. Funny story, I was on point for the last room and I motioned for a door kicker. This was the night iteration so we had nods on and for some reason the dude gets up on me and kicks me in the side for some reason. Luckily one of the team leaders noticed and pulled him back and kicked the door proper for me. Made for a good video to watch in the AAR.

Sorry just a lurker here but its definitely 10th Mountain. The video was forwarded to the CMA and the CSM for 10th Mountain and the CSM confirmed it was them and that he would "fix it." Someone on IG said it was 3BCT at Fort Polk.

The only CQB training we did back in the 04-07 days was with some SF dudes we shared a small FOB with in Baghdad. We never got the opportunity. Even at JRTC. I wish we had been trained more, we did like ~70 raids while deployed.
