When I was 17, my father was so stupid, I didn't want to be seen with him in public. When I was 24, I was amazed at how much the old man had learned in just 7 years.
I think Towns’ conditioning is understandably not there right now which probably has more to do with his poor fourth quarter play than coaching but I agree that Saunders always seemed over his head. Which isn’t to say he can’t do this eventually the time just wasn’t right.

The Nets are on fire and 4 of the Clippers starters have been out so still a little rusty.

Seems like 90% of NBA writing is tranactions rumors, transaction speculation, and salary cap stuff regarding transactions, the other 10% is semantic arguments about the world "valuable" in MVP.

I disagree. Not landing on your feet should never negate a sick jam, but it does represent points left on the table. Nothing completes a monster dunk like standing over the body you just caught. That Kemp dunk on Lister is as beloved as it is because Kemp stuck the landing and pointed right in Lister's dumb face.

This is a problem with recent dunks. Players aren't allowed to do stuff anymore.

If the NBA was more progressive LBJ could do a dunk and then pull out a smartphone and record the player lying on the ground and ask if he should dial 911. Unfortunately he would then be fined ~18 bitcoins by the NBA.

Or even better: players would all be wearing google glass during the games and everyone could watch the VR experience if they wanted. We've had the technology to do this for years now. Imagine how much $$$ someone might pay to watch a first person video of Shawn Kemp dunking in the playoffs. It'd sell for a lot of money on that new video coin. A first person video of Wilt's 100 point game would sell for millions of dollars in today's market.

AggressivelyStupid posted:

What happened afterwards :smugdog:

Then the GSW went on to win 88 games (even more than the 1996 Bulls) and everyone lived happily ever after until the last game of the season when LBJ decided he wanted a ring.

Negatives: Complicated play off history.

According to this rubric LBJ has three negatives. He did not make the 2004, 2005 or 2019 playoffs.

Jokic has been putting up the best box scores of the elites, the rational MVP choice. LBJ is the peak value guy who's perpetually in hibernation, the romantic pick. Kawhi is the traditional, establishmentarian pick as the #1 guy on the 1 or 2 seed. Embiid is the populist choice, #1 seed and #2 in PPG. Rudy Gobert is the esoteric choice, the humble unsung hero who just wins every game (unless the opposing team shoots 60%+ from 3P range).
