:ducksiren: The Free Demo Begins in 5 Days!!! :ducksiren:

Until then, I’m going to do a short write up on each class you can play in the video game called Outriders, not to be confused with top tier faction, Ruff Ryders.

And I will suppress my own excitement by typing a BUTT LOAD of words to showcase this close-range hunk called DEVASTATOR

This class fills the role of the typical tank but is so much more. A close to mid-range specialist, the Devastator controls gravity and can manipulate the earth itself. He is a specialist at damage over time and explosive damage, as well as sustaining and improving his own defenses the more he slaughters the enemy. Each class features its own unique method of healing and the Devastator is no different. Every time an enemy is killed within close range, the Devastator will heal. Not unlike the Trickster in needing to be up close, the Devastator also has a few perks that enhance his natural abilities making him a truly unstoppable force, but more on those later.

Over 78 perks to choose from. A meager 78.

His 8 powers are called:

quote:

1. Gravity Leap – Perfect for getting in close – or getting out of danger in a hurry – this power lets the player leap high into the air and enter a first person POV. You’ll be able to pan the camera around from your perch in the air, highlight an enemy, and come crashing down the force of a meteor, sending a shockwave from your point of impact. Gravity Leap is versatile enough to be used in a variety of different ways both offensively and defensively.

2. Reflect Bullets – Like something out of a well known movie franchise, the Devastator is able to provide a helping hand to his teammates by generating an energy shield of anti-gravity that suspends all incoming bullets in the air. Not only does this provide a moment of safety, but when the power ends, all collected bullets are fired at nearby enemies. If the Devastator is going to be in the thick of battle, this power becomes seriously impressive as he stops hundreds of bullets dead in their track.

3. Impale – One of the more gruesome and truly awesome looking powers in the game, the Devastator rips a sheer spike of stone out of the ground directly beneath his foes. If the damage of the spike is enough to prove lethal, they will be impaled in a number of different ways as well as generate a temporary buff to armor and health regen for nearby teammates. As an added bonus, a number of mods for your gear can provide up to 7 different modifiers for this power, including allowing you to preform the attack three times before needing to cooldown and hitting multiple enemies at once.

4. Endless Mass- A surprise power we had yet to see on display, Endless Mass sees the Devastator summon a swirling stone obelisk that generates its own gravity field and rips all nearby enemies towards it. This is fantastic when deep in combat and you need to control the field with a nice big AOE attack like Gravity Leap, or you just want to empty an entire clip into those who would defy you.

5. Earthquake – A quick and straight forward attack, the Devastator drives his fist hard into the ground and sends a rupture in a long reaching cone forward, damaging enemies and knocking them back. This is not only an effective attack for disrupting the enemies but gives your allies a moment to set up for a more devastating follow up. It will of course stagger anyone it hits and interrupt whatever attack they may be planning for you and your squad.

6. Golem – Another visually stunning power, Golem reinforces your armor and indeed your very flesh with a hard layer of stone ripped out of the ground. This additional layer of armor makes you nearly impervious to damage with a buff to defense. When you need to get in close, Golem will get you there with ease.

7. Tremor – The battlefield is a precarious place, and the enemy should be shaking in your wake. Activating tremor will see a wide area centered on you begin to burst and rumble with a small quake, knocking enemies to the ground around you as it continues to pulse and keep them off guard.

8. Stone Explosion – Sometimes a buff to armor just won’t cut it and the Devastator might just need some emergency healing. As the name suggests, Stone Explosion generates stones at each nearby enemy and causes them to explode, siphoning their health to restore your own.

Devastator Mans has 3 subclasses you can pick from too. They open that perk tree above:

quote:

1. Vanquisher: The Vanquisher is all about being up close and personal and dealing the most amount of damage with your arsenal. This path offers bonuses to improving the effectiveness of high power weapons like shotguns and assault rifles, as well as enhancing your melee and close range attacks.

2. Warden: Sometimes the best offense is a good defense. The Warden is the best support path for the Devastator, specializing in incredibly high bonuses to health, armor, and resistances. It also provides buffs to your protection powers and is ideal for drawing enemy fire without having to worry about puny bullets.

3. Seismic Shifter: If you love dealing damage but don’t want to get too close, this path is for you. Seismic Shifter is a mid-range, damage over time specialist that focuses on buffing your seismic skills and Anomaly damage output. This one is all about using your powers and using them often to damage as many enemies as you can at once.

Get your devastation on and look like an orphaned relative of Quan Chi starting Thursday!

Next up. Maybe this guy: https://youtu.be/ZBsy9b9jeNE?t=155

I like what I see so far, and I’m clearly not picky since i’m still playing Borderlands 3 despite all its issues. I love this genre enough to accept some flawed rear end games, I just need new worlds to search for cool guns.

If nothing else, it’s nice of them to release a free no questions asked demo before the actual release. Looking forward to trying that out soon.

:ducksiren: 3 Days Remain Until Demo: I Can’t Count Edition :ducksiren:

I said yesterday that 5 days remain until the demo on Thursday. Which was true. It really was.

So now, we have 3 days until the demo on Thursday. We skipped a day. Bet you didn’t realize that. You’re probably asking, hey, what happened between Sunday and Monday to skip a day?

Exactly. The day between Sunday and Monday already passed. Sorry you were on a bender or slept all day. It happens. All the time.

Let’s get down to business (to defeat, the Huns. Didn’t send me daughters. When I asked, for suns.) I love Mulan but I gotta question kids singing that song. Anyway, let’s get down to it.

The Pyromancer is a combat tactician, specialized in staying just a step behind the battle to inflict massive damage from a distance. Not particularly skilled in traversal or getting in and out of combat very quickly, their strength lays in in a plethora of AOE attacks to clear out the enemy.

Outriders does not rely on healing items and instead requires you to play aggressively. The Trickster class will heal by killing enemies in close range, but that doesn’t work for the Pyromancer.

Instead, any enemy hit with one of the Pyromancer’s skills will be “marked.” Should a marked target be killed, – even by an ally – the Pyromancer is granted a generous health replenish. Coupled with these powerful AOE attacks, a skilled Pyromancer will never have to worry about being low on health.

Many of the Pyromancer’s attacks will inflict the Burning status which not only deals up front damage and Damage Over Time, but will stun enemies and can be used to interrupt oncoming attacks.

His skills are:

quote:

1. Thermal Bomb

Highlighted the most often in gameplay for its stunning visuals and visceral effects, the Pyromancer strikes the ground as rumbling volcanic energy races towards a single target. This target is then engulfed in flames and blasted with the Burning effect, marking them while they take damage. Should the enemy die while marked, not only will the Pyromancer heal but the effects of the Thermal Bomb will cause them to levitate off the ground, charge with explosive energy, and burst into a spray of blood, dealing a large radius of damage to nearby targets.

2. Ash Blast

A burst of ash floods out along the ground in an AOE centered on the Pyromancer. Any enemy caught in the blast is immediately covered in smoldering ash and frozen in place for a few seconds. While not quite as damaging as their other abilities, Ash Blast is fantastic for offensive, defensive, and combo purposes. Stopping a group of enemies in their tracks so the Trickster or Devastator can run in and clean house is not only great for synergy, it will net you a whole lot of healing. Remember: the Pyromancer excels at tactical combat.

3. Heat Wave

What is better than setting an enemy on fire? How about igniting many enemies on fire? Heat Wave summons a wall of flames that bursts from the ground and races forward in a line, blasting every enemy in its wake and hitting them with the Burning status effect. This is one of the Pyromancer’s earliest abilities and is a staple for crowd control, as well as a fantastic way to pick up a ton of health.

4. Overheat

This is a power that – when used properly – is absolutely devastating. Overheat will cause minimal damage to enemies within a very large area, however, any enemy within this range who currently has the Burning status effect when Overheat is triggered will immediately burn white-hot and take severely massive fire damage. There is nothing quite like watching your enemy burst into white flames simply because they dared to cross you.

5. Fire Bullets

While this ability was not officially announced, it can be found online thanks to many gamers who have had a blast playing the game. This ability allows you to pour anomalous energy into the mag of whatever weapon you have equipped, giving all the bullets in the magazine an extra burning punch as well as imbuing them with piercing damage, allowing you to mow down a crowd with ease. This effect lasts until the clip is empty, you reload, or change your weapon.

6. Heat Absorption

You can’t help but think of a very angry Sith when you hear about this power. Not only will you select an enemy and rip a portion of their very life force from them to heal you, you’ll also drag them towards you and automatically inflict the Ash status effect on them, bringing them into the sweet spot of your most lethal moves and immobilizing them in place.

7. F.A.S.E.R. Beam

Noted as an ability affected by one of the weapon perks during gameplay, We have seen small snippets of the F.A.S.E.R. Beam in action with the Pyromancer crossing their wrists and charging up a corkscrewing blast of volcanic energy. The specific effects are as of yet unknown but if you find out, please let us know in the comments!

8. ???

With only the tiniest of teases, we saw the Pyromancer standing in the center of a fire tornado. Could this be the same power we saw the Devastator face off against when he fought the cult leader during the Broadcast? Whatever this move may be, you can be certain it will light up the battlefield.

This girl is on fiiiiiiiiire. This girl is on fiiiiiiiiiiirrrreeeeee. - Alicia Keyes, singer

The skill tree for the Pyromancer has a total of 79 unlockable perks – just 1 more than the Trickster – and while a number of them will offer the standard buffs you might expect to damage or health, there are plenty there you may have caught during the broadcast to give you an idea what sort of tricks the Pyromancer has up its smoldering sleeves. We’ve managed to pick out eight such skills which popped up on screen in a flash.

-…Hurt Twice As Long – Increase damage against Elites by 10%, Elites deal 10% less damage to you.

– Marble Orchard – Reduce Immobilize skills cooldown by 15%

– Trial of the Ashes – Enemies afflicted with Ash receive 20% more damage.

– Nimble as a Flame – Decrease reload time by 20%

– Burning Situation – Activating Immobilize skills increases your weapon damage by 20% for 10 seconds

– Warm Up – Reduce Ignite skills cooldown by 15%

– Fuel for the Embers – Doubles Skill Leech when under 30% health

– Chasing the Chill Away – Killing a marked enemy heals you by an additional 12% of your maximum health.

The next character I will do is not the Trickster. That’s my character I will be playing first. So I am saving the bestest for the lastest.

So the next character I will do will be Steam’s very own, The Technomancer!

Stay awhile and glisten while I copy and paste text and add a word or two about Character #3: THE TECHNOMANCER

Definitely partly on this.

Trickster is comparable to a Thief from Guild Wars 2, Interceptor in Anthem, Deadpool from Marvel games.

Brief script:

quote:

Trickster is a close range class that's fast and can easily hit & run targets. Bend the laws of space & time to appear out of nowhere, assassinate your enemies, and return to safety in the blink of an eye.

quote:

As People Can Fly describe it, Tricksters are able to control space and time to assassinate their targets. As such, they've been designed closer to a typical Rogue style class, being able to get up close and personal with targets, deal high amounts of damage, and then get back out. Unlike the Devastator who can take a beating and continue to dish it out, Tricksters want to get in, strike fast, and escape back out to safety.

I think the Vanguard is closest to the Devastator. More of a controller type, good single target, and Warp/Shockwave Vanguard stuff is built into Devastator’s arsenal.

Trickster is that quick class that gets in, gets out. Devastator is like your all-around jack of all trades character. I would say it’s comparable chars are Destiny’s Titan and a Diablo Barbarian. Hell, it’s the closest to if Gears of War chars had the powers of a brute.

(I do see some inspiration to a Vanguard in the Devastator too).

:ducksiren: 2 Days Remain sponsored by Dead Rising :ducksiren:

Hello! We have two days remaining until this demo drops dead gorgeous and we will learn if this game checks one of these boxes:

[] Good
[] Bad

It’s a 50/50 chance meaning the odds are actually really high to be a good game. However, if PCF mess this up, then boy howdy do they have some really terrible luck and skill. This isn’t like trying to roll a 20 and you have to roll a 2. That’s tough. That’s really tough.

This is like a two-sided dice, where one side equals good and one side equals bad.

Good luck PCF because I hope your game is good.

NOW LETS GET DOWN TO BUSINESS

Or

The Technomancer is by far the most interesting of the four classes for its unique combination of archetypes and skills.

At its core, the Technomancer is a long-range specialist with perks to enhance its sniping skills and damage output. While it does offer a number of perks specifically for this build, it is also arguably the most versatile class given its variety of powers and abilities.

The Technomancer’s main feature is its ability to conjure up weapons and gadgets made from scraps discarded across the war-torn battlefields including missile turrets, rocket launchers, mini guns, and more.

The Technomancer also specializes in the Freeze and Decay status effect which both immobilizes and weaken the enemy respectively. Unique to the Technomancer and perhaps best suited to its ability to fill any role, this specialist restores health every time it deals damage to an enemy.

For a class focused on ordinance, it’s going to be hard to keep this one down.

This computer game has 8 skills to use:

1. Scrapnel – The only class to gain some form of throwable explosive device, the Scrapnel is an anti-personnel explosive that can be dropped as a proximity device. When enemies approach, the Scrapnel pops out of the ground and bursts into hundreds of pieces to damage all targets in the immediate vicinity.

2. Cryo Turret – Have some nasty enemies barreling down on you? The cryo turret is your trusty companion. Dropped right next to the player, the turret will shoot freezing bullets at enemies to slow them down and give you more time for you or your allies to pick them off. The turret has a small pool of health but will last long enough to help you out of a tight spot.

3. Pain Launcher – What is sure to be the most commonly seen ability in the game, the Pain Launcher summons a devastating volley of highly explosive missiles to rain down fire on your enemies in a straight line. Like the cryo turret, this drops next to the player and fires automatically in a beautiful sea of flames.

4. Fixing Wave – The single ability to heal allies within Outriders, Fixing Wave will not only restore a portion of HP to your teammates but can also be used to automatically repair any active turrets you’ve dropped in the heat of combat.

5. Blighted Rounds – Fill your current weapons mag with decay-infused bullets that inflict toxic on a target. Enemies within a small radius of the main target also receive Toxic and a percentage of damage. This skill lasts until you reload or switch weapons, so it’s particularly effective when your gun has a nice big drum of bullets.

6. Tool of Destruction – One of the game’s most unique abilities, Tool of Destruction lets you decide which kind of carnage you are in the mood for. Pressing the button to activate the skill will conjure up a rocket launcher, while holding it will instead create a mini-gun to level the playing field – and your targets.

7. Cold Snap – A gadget to be used both offensively and defensively, Cold Snap sees the player drop the device at their feet and instantly freeze all targets within a wide radius. This immobilizes enemies and leaves them easy picking for you or your allies. It can be used to thin the herd or slow down an onslaught of melee enemies, as well as giving your allies some precious seconds to catch their breath.

8. Blighted Turret – An excellent support skill – particularly for those who like to play it solo – the blighted turret is a sort of putrid flamethrower that inflicts toxic on your enemies in wide sweeps. It distracts enemies, giving you a chance to pick them off from a distance, and has an incredibly quick cooldown, meaning its nearly ready to deploy just as soon as it is depleted.

Jack Skellington has seen better days.

The Ol Mancer has 3 subclasses to choose from:

1. Pestilence: Down this path you’ll find the strength of your Decay skills as well as sniper rifles and assault rifles enhanced, increasing your damage output to whatever happens to be in your hand.

2. Tech Shaman: This one is best suited for those who love being a support. Not only does it augment and buff your indirect damage skills such as freezing and turrets, but it also enhances your healing skills and abilities, as well as granting you the ability to cheat death and automatically return from the grave during combat.

3. Demolisher: Perfect for the lone wolf player, this branch augments your gadgets and skills to provide extra buffs and bonuses each time you use them, making you much stronger and enhancing your Toxic damage output.

Here’s an example of some of their over 70 perks to choose from:

quote:

Gadgeteer – Reduce gadget skills cooldown by 15%
Overclocked – Activating gadget skills increases your anomaly power and weapon damage by 40% for 10 seconds. For 10 seconds upon losing all health you will receive a second chance to return to the battlefield with 50% health. The effect may occur once every 180 seconds.
Senior Engineer – Increase turret skills health by 100%
Exposing Frost – Every time Freeze is applied on an enemy, Vulnerable stat is applied as well.
Blurscreen – Your health regen is increased up to 20% of maximum health when you receive no damage.
Wipe Out – Enemies below 30% health receive 20% more damage.
Marked for Execution – Vulnerable applied on an enemy is 40% more effective.
Medical Unit – Using a gadget skill increases all healing received by you and your allies by 30% for 7 seconds.
Winter’s Barrier – After using your class melee skill, increase damage mitigation by 40% for 3 seconds.
Exposing Toxin – Every time toxic is applied on an enemy, Vulnerable status is applied as well.
Sower of Decay – Reduce decay skills cooldown by 15%
Sniper Master – Increase your sniper weapon damage by 20%, sniper weapons drop 12% more often
Toxicologist – Toxic applied on enemies lasts 30% longer.
Nitrogen Capsules – Decrease the distance considered to be long range by 6.5 meters
Ordinance Technician – Reduce ordinance skills cooldown by 15%
Brain Freeze – Your class melee skill also applies Toxic on every enemy hit.
Sidearm Adept – Increase your pistol and revolver damage by 12%
Welcome Shot – The first shot after reload deals damage with Firepower increased by 15% of your Anomaly Power
Fracture – Enemies afflicted with Freeze receive 10% more damage
Heavy Absorption – Activating Ordinance skills increases Skill Leech by 15% for 7 seconds.

Long story short, this is the most unique class in the game and the one that is near perfect for solo players. They command the field with gadgets and tools and summonable things like turrets:

I know this is a skill summon for the Technomancer but why couldn’t this have been the actual 5th character in the game? The Playable Turret. Come on PCF...

I’ll do another post after this to highlight mods because it’s one of the best things about this game and a redeeming factor to the caution flags up. The Mod System looks juicy.

Pyromancer Build Ideas Based on Idiots and Smarts Who Played The Demo
Cogconnected people have done a good job covering this game with info I don’t find elsewhere:

Outriders’ Pyromancer Class: Simple Builds for the Charred Reaper

Outriders is built with extensive customization in mind. With each of the four classes able to slot numerous mods (up to 16 with a full set of epic gear!) and equip up to three special abilities at a time, you’ll no doubt find that sweet-spot to match your play style. Each class might be geared towards a particular role, but that doesn’t mean they can’t switch it up from long range support to close range destroyer. Here are some simple builds we’ve put together for each class using a combination of their skills and just a few of our favorite mods we know about.

The Pyromancer is equivalent to your caster class. Their comfortable spot is a few paces back where they can light the field on fire from a moderate distance while still dishing out some close range pain. A little squishy yet a master of crowd control, here are three unique and basic builds to help you explore what the Pyromancer can do:

Molten Warlock

Skills:

Volcanic Rounds
F.A.S.E.R. Beam
Eruption

Mods:

Pompeii
Pure Power
Twice as Hot

Why This Works:

Sometimes you want to hang back and control the field, which means dealing the most explosive, high impact damage far from the action. F.A.S.E.R. Beam has a few seconds of charge time but its damage output is unmatched. Not only does it inflict Burn and allow you to Interrupt, footage suggests the attack will go through cover as well. We don’t have a lot of known Pyromancer mods to choose from, but slapping Pure Power on will take this high power thermal blast and considerably up the damage even further making it a tank-stopper.

Need to keep a group of enemies at bay who are closing in? Eruption lets you burst forth a volcanic mouth from the ground, inflicting more burns and adding a nice bit of AOE damage to the field which ought to make them think twice about rushing you. You know how to make that better? Add the Pompeii mod which lets you do it again before triggering the cooldown! You can build a veritable barrier of spewing magma to make sure they don’t get too close.

You can’t always rely on the F.A.S.E.R. Beam, however. Enemies might begin to swarm you, and that is when you pull out the trusty Volcanic Rounds. Much like it sounds, your mag will be filled with bullets that inflict burn on the target, sure to stop them in their tracks. But why stop there? The Twice as Hot mod will inflict bonus damage to any enemy currently burned every single time you use an ability. If you drop those Eruptions and activate the Volcanic Rounds, your enemies will already be half dead before you can put an incendiary bullet in their brain.

Pyromaniac

Skills:

Thermal Bomb
Heatwave
Eruption

Mods:

Fire Frenzy
Tidal Wave
Pompeii

Why This Works:

You don’t play as a Pyromancer because you want to play nice. This class is all about lighting enemies on fire! This build is ideal for the Pyromancer at mid range and is designed to set the field aflame. Heatwave will of course send forth a wall of flames, igniting anyone in its path. Thermal Bomb will make a killing blow from this power cause the target to rise off the ground and explode into a hot mess of AOE body parts, and Eruption – as mentioned before – will leave a searing hot obstacle in the path of anyone trying to close the gap.

So what about those mods? Fire Frenzy, Tidal Wave, and Pompeii will each give you an additional activation of these abilities before triggering their cooldown. That means you can drop two lava-spewing craters in front of the enemy, slam them with walls of flames and – if they haven’t melted into goop by then – set off chain reactions of exploding viscera. The battlefield around you will be in a constant state of hell on Enoch thanks to you, and you should feel pretty happy about that.

Charred Reaper

Skills:

Feed the Flames
Ash Blast
Overheat

Mods:

Cinders
Proliferation
Mark of the Stake

Why This Works:

This build is a little different, only using one Pyromancer mod while the other two are weapon mods (You’ll see why in a moment) Feed the Flames is a fantastic skill that might not be as showy as Thermal Bomb, but it pulls an enemy towards you, deals damage, steals health, AND inflicts Ash on the target. Ash blast of course sends out a huge radius of ash centered on you, coating enemies and immobilizing them where they stand. So why is this important? Because of one very simple pairing: Overheat and the Cinders mod.

Normally, Overheat does a minimal amount of damage to enemies in the area with a significantly higher damage output to those who are afflicted with burn, causing them to burst into white-hot flames. The Cinders mod, however, changes the requirement of Burn to Ash. This is a build for Pyromancer’s who don’t mind getting a little more up close and personal so they can regularly coat the enemy in ash and ignite them with unimaginable flames. Overheat is your very best friend in this build, but what about the other mods?

With Proliferation, shooting an enemy afflicted with a status effect makes it jump to the next closest enemy. That means hitting Ash Blast or Feed the Flames and then shooting someone affected by Ash will give you a free additional target hit with Ash, making Overheat even more effective. Mark of the Stake is an effective backup to make the enemy remember just who you are, as anyone shot by the weapon it is equipped to will immediately take burn damage when you reload. This is a build for constantly watching close-range enemies go up in white-hot flames.

I’ll throw a few more of these up from my readings and poo poo and definitely cover this mod stuff because it’s robust.

Devastator Builds for the Commoner Person

Just like above with the Pyro (caster class), here’s the every-person class Devastator!

Outriders’ Devastator Class: Simple Builds for the Stone Defender

Outriders is built with extensive customization in mind. With each of the four classes able to slot numerous mods (up to 16 with a full set of epic gear!) and equip up to three special abilities at a time, you’ll no doubt find that sweet-spot to match your play style. Each class might be geared towards a particular role, but that doesn’t mean they can’t switch it up from long range support to close range destroyer. Here are some simple builds we’ve put together for each class using a combination of their skills and just a few of our favorite mods we know about.

This overpowering brute has incredible destructive force, but it doesn’t always have to be front and center like a mad barbarian. Here are three unique builds to help you explore what the Devastator can do:

Stone Defender

Skills:

Reflect Bullets
Golem
Earthquake

Mods:

Armor Boost
Blood Primer
Bleeding Impulse

Why This Works:

We all know the Devastator is the tank, but that doesn’t always mean running full steam ahead and screaming like a barbarian. Sometimes the best thing you can do as a tank is become the sponge to help your allies with their onslaught, and that is where the Defender build comes in. If you are going to be front and center in the action than having Golem is a no-brainer – who doesn’t want extra armor? The Bleeding Impulse mod makes it just a little sweeter when it comes to dealing with those pesky targets as it cause the Golem armor to activate radial impulses which inflict Bleed to enemies in the area.

What better way to protect your allies than with the incredible Reflect Bullets power? If you need to get your allies through a heavy battlefield, this gravity shield will make short work of enemies in your path. With Blood Primer active, those bullets you send hurtling back at the enemies will also inflict Bleed, giving you some extra DoT effects and making the survivors easy targets.

Need a little juice to get the party started? Earthquake will knock enemies around in front of you, slowing them down and dealing damage, but the Armor Boost mod will give you a huge bonus to your armor for each enemy affected and stacks up to 10 times. Starting an encounter with Earthquake and then activating Golem will have you laughing as the bullets fly off, letting you get up close to teach those baddies some manners.

Critical Compactor

Skills:

Endless Mass
Gravity Leap
Tremor

Mods:

Mosh Pit
Human Comet
Stolen Life

Why This Works:

The Compactor build should be pretty straight forward when it comes to the name; this is all about dealing with mass groups of enemies and making them into significantly smaller pieces very quickly. The best method for this build is a three step combo starting with Endless Mass. The black obelisk you generate will rip enemies in the area towards it, clustering them into a confined space, with the Mosh Pit mod inflicting Vulnerability on everyone affected.

Now that everyone is clustered together, the obvious choice is of course Gravity Leap. Flying into the air, ripping boulders out of the ground to surround you and turn you into a drat meteor is a whole lot of fun – especially with all those peons in one little space – but the Human Comet mod ups the damage to make sure they get crushed into a fine paste.

For any stragglers who may have been late to the party (or anyone who SOMEHOW survived the previous onslaught) can be finished off with Tremor: your own personal earthquake. Even if it doesn’t kill them, anyone in your area is going to have a hard time focusing on you when the very ground beneath their feet trembles. The Stolen Life mod makes it so any enemy effected by Tremor will relinquish even more health to you, topping you up for the inevitable face-smashing to come.

Behemoth Berserker

Skills:

Impale
Boulderdash
Gravity Leap

Mods:

Primal Rage
Spike Forest
Life Absorption

Why This Works:

You knew it had to be here. The beyond-just-a-tank build. The destroyer of all things with a pulse. Devastator is uniquely capable of absolute carnage when up close and personal so why not accentuate the classes natural desire to smash with the Berserker build? If you need a moment to breath and find the largest pile of enemies to crush under your epicness, Gravity Leap with the Life Absorption mod will not only flatten anyone you look at but grants an incredible amount of health back to you on both damage and kill.

Want to get in close by stay grounded? Boulderdash lets you live out your fantasy of being the Incredible Hulk and running full steam ahead like a battering ram as you mow down anyone and everyone in your way. How do you make that better? Add the Primal Rage mod which reduces the cooldown by 50% and you can now hit every target on the field like a speeding train.

Of course, I saved the best for last, the most epic looking Devastator power: Impale. Enemies getting in the way? Why not toss them in the air with your mastery of gravity and force spikes of rock to burst out of the ground beneath them, then violently rip them down squishy parts first and let them dangle. It looks even better than it sounds, and with the Spike Forest mod you get the pleasure of adding one more victim to your morbid art display every time you use this ability.

Technomancer Doing It All Builds!

I’ll do the Trickster tomorrow since they will be the final char covered.

The Technomancer is one part necromancer, one part engineer. Functioning in a variety of rolls, this is easily the most diverse class to play as with a ton of options, but let’s take a look at just three unique and basic builds to help you explore what the Technomancer can do:

Cryomancer

Skills:

Cold Snap
Cryo Turret
Blighted Turret

Mods:

Painful Chill
Ice Component
Increased Damage

Why This Works:

While at first it seems like a simple combination a necromancer and an engineer – what with its mastery over toxins and frankensteined weapons – but you can’t forget the chilling fact that this class also specializes in sub-zero temperatures. The Cryo Turret is going to be one of your best friends; easily deployed at a distance, great for distracting enemies, and it packs a decent enough punch to lay a trap and freeze anyone stupid enough to get caught down sights. The Increased Damage mod might not be that fancy, but it’s going to turn each of those bullets into a chunk of steel with some real stopping power – both in their impact and how well they can freeze enemies in place.

Cold Snap is great for getting up close and personal. With a simple drop of this device at your feet, every enemy in an impressive radius is quickly frozen in place, leaving you in the perfect position to pick them off effortlessly and watch those frozen body parts shatter on the ground. Adding Painful Chill to the mix means anyone affected by Cold Snap will take extra damage, so freezing your enemies in place and dropping a Cryo Turret in the middle of them? That sounds like poetry on ice.

This comes to one of the most intriguing additions to the build: The Blighted Turret. Normally something akin to a flamethrower that spews toxin to enemies in a close range, the Ice Component mod changes the toxic effect into a freezing effect. The Blighted Turret naturally has an incredibly quick cooldown, so maybe dropping this guy in the middle of enemies crystalized in place from the Cold Snap will do just fine. There are a ton of ways to combo these powers but guaranteed anyone stupid enough to come too close will get the cold shoulder.

Demolitions Expert

Skills:

Scrapnel
Tool of Destruction
Pain Launcher

Mods:

Bang for your Buck
Fine-Tuned
Cannonade

Why This Works:

Technology might be a bust on Enoch, but the Technomancer can still bring the heat. This build is all about explosions and plenty of them! Starting out simple we have Scrapnel, the games only equivalent to a grenade. Working on a proximity detonation with a modest blast radius, this exploding piece of shrapnel is great for coaxing enemies out of hiding or the flesh from their bones. The Fine-Tuned mod increases the detection and explosion radius of the Scrapnel by a whopping 33%, meaning extra viscera for all!

One of the most intriguing powers of the game gives Technomancer exclusive use of not one but two weapons: Tool of Destruction. At will you can conjure either a minigun or rocket launcher to devastating effects, but we are looking at explosions here so rocket launcher is definitely what we have in mind. Bang for your Buck adds an automatic 100% ammo to whichever weapon you use, which means double the rockets to rain down fire on your enemies.

Speaking of raining down fire, we couldn’t forget the very best, the coolest, and the most visually impressive ability in the Technomancer’s arsenal: the Pain Launcher. Dropped directly next to you, this powerhouse turret sets out an incredible volley of missiles over a long distance in a straight line. So how do you improve on that? With the legendary Cannonade mod that adds an additional 10 rockets! With this build, no one would dare try to hide behind cover. You’ll be able to rain down a fiery death from incredible distances without firing a single bullet, leaving enough flames to make the Pyromancer jealous.

Twisted Engineer

Skills:

Pain Launcher
Cryo Turret
Fixing Wave

Mods:

Increased Range
Mr. Fixit
Increased Damage

Why This Works:

This might be a game about cool elemental powers, manipulating time and space, and messing with the very laws of physics itself, but the Technomancer also brings some amount of practicality to the world of Enoch. This build embodies the idea of being an engineer on the field of battle with a reliance on tech to keep your rear end safe. You already know how fantastic the Pain Launcher is, so having a device that will leave a couple dozen fiery craters where your charging enemies once stood is a great start to making sure they don’t get too close for comfort. Is someone sitting just a little too far out of reach? The Increased Range mod more than doubles the already impressive range of destruction to make sure the enemy keeps their distance.

Of course what good is an engineer without his trusty turret? The Cryo Turret returns for this build with its dependable Increased Damage mod to help you distract enemies, freeze them in place, and set up a few quick tactical maneuvers to throw them off.

You’ve got to keep your gear – and yourself – in top shape out there, so Fixing Wave is the perfect accompaniment for the long range Technomancer. Not only will it heal you, your allies, and your faithful Cryo Turret, but the Mr. Fixit mod gives a sizeable boost to your armor and resistance whenever you use the skill. You can easily toss out a Cryo Turret to infuriate the enemy and help them cool off while bombarding them with a missile volley and headshotting any stragglers with a sniper rifle.

Crafting and Mods and Enoch Biomes OH MY!

ENOCH BIOMES

Here’s a great video that shows it isn’t just dark browns and grays. Which, yeah, I am convinced that all it is too. Then I see this and I get a little excited to see some variety. 3 minute video:

Mods?? Mods??

One of the most highly anticipated aspects of Outriders is its overwhelming customization options. Not only will each class have over 70 perks to unlock and re-spec for free, but weapons and armor can all be modified with a staggering list of mods to fine tune your build. With much exhaustive work behind us, we’ve put together a list of all known weapon and armor mods so far. Please note that some of the mods listed below are based on earlier builds of the game and may have been changed since then. Some of these mods will include specific numbers for damage output, but these numbers will change based on your build and level.

SLOTTING MODS

Slotting mods into your weapon is easy, but there are some restrictions. Any weapons with a Blue rarity (Rare) can only hold one mod. Purple (Epic) and Gold (Legendary) gear can each hold two, however Legendary gear comes with its own dedicated, highly powerful mod from Tier 3. Any piece of gear or weapon with two mods attached can only have one mod replaced while the other will be locked to encourage farming and grinding for the rolls you want.

You will be able to see Zahedi to not only disassemble gear to learn mods and slot new ones into your gear, but you can pay him to increase the rarity of your gear and open new slots. This means that theoretically you can take any weapon or piece of armor through the game, but it will cost a lot of resources so be sure you really want it. It’s also worth noting that even Legendary gear can be dismantled to learn the games most powerful mods, so don’t be afraid to let Zahedi take them apart to better bolster your arsenal.

MOD TIERS

There are three tiers of mods in Outriders.

Tier 1 is the most common to discover and generally the lowest damage output.

Tier 2 packs a substantially stronger punch, but is definitely harder to find.

Tier 3 mods, however, are made up entirely of the most powerful mods which can only be found by dismantling legendary gear.

Previously on this list the mods attached to legendary gear were kept separate from the main list, as it had yet to be revealed that these mods could be dismantled and added to the pool. You’ll now find these mods not only in the Legendary Gear section, but also included in the full list of mods.

(This will go last after I talk about CRAFTING by copying and pasting more info from cog connected)

CRAFTING

While you won’t be changing the aesthetic of your weapon, you’ll be too busy tweaking its core and advanced mechanics to make it your own. Each weapon has six stats: three are the same across all guns; range, accuracy, and stability. The other three stats will change depending on the class of weapon (and possibly a little RNG.)

These changing stats can be upgraded six times each to augment their unique strengths through crafting. I also came across the Swap Variant option which – depending on the weapon type – will let you change your firing method. This can be single shot, burst fire, full auto, – and as the developers told me – high power rounds with a lower rate of fire; There are sure to be plenty of options when the game launches.

Crafting options don’t stop there however. Weapon rarity denotes how many mods a weapon can hold: blue has one, purple has two, gold presumably has three. It also looks like there is a difference between gold and orange rarity, as orange would be more akin to class-specific exotic gear.

There are three tiers of mods you can equip with each tier denoting both the power of the mod and rarity of encountering it. You will need to find a weapon with the desired mod and dismantle it to learn how to craft it, but some of the mods I encountered were just mind-blowing.

Claymore, my favorite mod thus far, summons a large sword made of energy directly above the enemy and drives it straight down on top of them with a four second cooldown.

Lastly, Outriders will let you spend resources to upgrade the rarity of your gear or craft an entirely new weapon out of scraps. Got a nice set of blue armor you just can’t part with? You can increase its rarity and power all the way up to gold. That being said, the developers did suggest it might not be the most viable decision for the greatest builds, but you absolutely can do it if you want and you know somebody out there will want to try taking their starting rifle and take it into the end game.

Hey at least you can rest assured that a couple people appreciated you going crazy and accumulating all this data into one place so they didn’t have to bother watching a bunch of clickbait garbage on youtube to acquire it.

Now I can say i’m most interested in Devastator and Techymancing, so thanks for helping me narrow down what classes to try out first.

Much love!

And not gonna lie, putting the info together, I didn’t know really anything about the Technomancer and have been in on Trickster since the get go.

I’m starting to really want to give this Technomancer a go (I mean, I’ll give them all a go) since they got a really unique kit it seems.

I kept getting Marvel character Random vibes as I was reading and typing.

I don’t give a gently caress what anybody says Random is the man.

Devastator is your all-around.

I’ve read a lot of posts from folks just making sure that people don’t think the Devastator is the tank character. It’s the all-around and can be built in a ton of different ways.

This mod stuff and some build stuff I’m gonna post here shortly should give y’all an idea because we haven’t talked builds much and I’m learning there’s a lot of stats to mess around with and diversity.

I am reading your detail, but that'd put me on devastator as the specialization in Seismic Shifter? Still seems to be the 'up close' guy unless you go this route, then it is DoTs?

This seems right to me.

So, keep in mind too (and I apologize in advance if I’m preaching to the choir) this game doesn’t do the traditional trinity stuff or that your char is locked into one type of play style.

All 4 classes can be tanks. All 4 can do casting specialties. All 4 have healing (well, minus Technomancer who has a 40s cool down heal ability where the others get one on command essentially).

Seismic Shifter looks close-to-mid range as character details. For what you’re looking for, at first glance, I think that’s what’s up right now.

When this demo drops my friend, Technomancer and Devastator are going to probably be what you want to explore. There’s supposedly a ton of builds due to the mod system so I gotta see myself what options we have to fit our favorite play styles.

This is a safe distance perk that’ll emphasize the assault rifles and that mid-to-long range game for Devastator:

Now, I mention Technomancer because this character does have missile strikes, and a summonable rocket launcher that reminds me of the rockets a la an War Machine/Ranger would fire. While the char is a “summoner” class, it looks like there’s a pure War Machine military-like build that this character has too.

You’ll probably want to explore both these characters for the demo and see what’s the right fit for ya.

You’re going in with the blind approach. I like your style.

The power of friendship will be your guide in and I look forward to this wonderful journey together again.

Ok, real talk, if you are tracking with anything in this game at all, just skip the OP and read the recent write-ups about the characters on down. Read it once and you’re up to speed.

Or even realer talk, don’t even worry about any of that and know the demo drops on Thursday and it lasts forever (at least until launch). Play and see what you think. Maybe it’ll tickle your fancy!

I appreciate the preaching!

If the level cap is 7, let's hope we can get a good feel for a class by then. For these sorts of games I really like to 'lock in' a class I have a good feel for if I'm going to poopsock loot grinding.

I am developing a cough which may cause some sick leave to be taken this Thursday and Friday. Just saying.

wow I really don't know what I'll start as. I like pets, dots, control and support but there aren't any real pets (turrets don't count) and every class has some cool control or support abilities!!

Who is to say those turrets aren’t sentient? We will find out Thursday!

Yeah I feel like I’ve learned a ton more about these classes/systems/worlds and my excitement levels went from “well, I like loot games so I have to play it” to “I really feel like there’s a light at the end of this tunnel that has me itching for Thursday to get here. Maybe this won’t be as bad as I thought?”

It’s interesting though. I loved Bulletstorm. I didn’t care for Gears of War Judgment. I thought Painkiller was decent. The track record just tells me this game could be anything really.

As awful as it sounds, Stormgale did have a great point: The fact that this game is actually complete out of the box, like a normal game...that is refreshing for this genre.

Despite some terrible, terrible cons, there’s some outstanding pros that for this week, have me really excited for Thursday to see what we really have here.
