Possum is one of the most uncomfortable films I've ever seen. It was incredible. The bluray also had a short of his on it that I can't remember the name of but was also excellent. Funny and then very much not. Wish he got to direct more.

A Gun For George? I know he made that but I don't remember where it came out. He had a great bit part in a couple episodes of The Office as the IT guy that was just spot on. Needlessly snarky, topping everyone else's stories with something he'd done that was better, all delivered on completely bored monotone. I think we've all known "that guy", right? It's a shame he's not in more stuff

If it’s “we haven’t got any scripts Mike!” then it’s very famous and I absolutely should have added it. Thanks! Edit: that general election one is really good too. Learning that the entire opening sequence was off VT was a little annoying. Understandable though. I miss vision mixing, I don’t get a chance to do any in my current job  mostly just the directing part as I’m running lots of live web streams these days and coordinating remote links into it. Too late for me to get into TV now, sadly.

Reminds me of something the other day, I listen to satellite radio in the car on the way to work as it's more tolerable than FM and the hosts play a game where they have to guess the ages of people with birthdays this month. After the edition finished, there was a bit of silence before a call of "OK lets roll it from the top again" and the intro music hit and they proceded to do Friday's too, despite being Thursday. Had to laugh that the next day they replayed the segment, then at the end asked if anyone had a sense of deja vu.

Truth Seekers was worth a watch but I won't be mourning its cancellation. Maybe Simon Pegg can join him in lovely credit card ads to pay the bills too. Also would recommend watching Slaughterhouse Rules which is on Netflix.

The problem with Red Dwarf is that the sunk cost fallacy will get you. You'll love the first bunch of seasons so much you'll make yourself watch the dire ones, hoping it gets back to the old quality. Will it? Who knows, maybe.........?

I watched Red Dwarf on UK Gold and those kind of channels fairly often growing up, but because I was just watching whatever episode happened to be on with no clear idea where it was in the show's production order given how episodic it is for the most part I mostly saw stuff from season 3 to 7 or 8, whichever was the last one made for a good few years. Which, I enjoyed all of them to some degree but because I rarely saw the earlier stuff and wasn't even paying much attention to realize what was where I just liked it as a whole. I went back and watched the first few seasons chronologically a decade or so ago though, and man, the early seasons really are a different beast altogether. What I think surprised me most was that the first two seasons were building up a cohesive narrative throughout, even if there were only little bits of it in each episode rather than having a major story focus, with Dave's relationship to Kerchanski (however you spell it), his kids and his eventual death being the only elements I even remember at this point. Since the writers had a professional split though, season 3 and on just goes off in a completely different direction, starts introducting more external influences and the tone and humor all change a bit. I still like them, but the first two seasons stand up so much better because of that balance between humor and story. That aside, Red Dwarf still has one of my favorite jokes ever, with Cat and Lister talking about Wilma Flinstone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QeDkGnyDv9o

I watched the first couple episodes of Truth Seekers a while ago and though it was pretty bad, and incredibly dated. This and the awful movie Paul convinced me that Frost and Pegg basically live in some kind of bubble where the 90s never ended. Without Edgar Wright I really don’t rate them.
