Not sure Icingdeath is much better as a canon name really. Sounds like it should be a joke weapon that conjures baked goods or something. Probably could have called it Icedeath instead and it would have sounded more dangerous.

Yes, those are the sword's actual names. Icingdeath he named after a dragon it belonged to and Twinkle is just cause the mage who gave it to him was a nerd.

I'LL PUNISH YOU ACCORDING TO YOUR CRIME
Chapter LXVII - Cherchez la femme *A*.

Lots of ground to cover today.

The Temple of the Black Hand is where we'll find the other part of the key we need.

We immediately rescue Nim's dogs from vampiric hounds.

The place is filled with cultists, spooky. :ohdear:

Channeling Khalid might have been the wrong move. At least they die quickly.

They're not as scary when the sun's out. :gbsmith:

Edwin and Shar-Teel don't get along, big surprise.

Who could this dagger belong to!?

This conversation was supposed to trigger ages ago, I had to trigger it by console in order for it to appear, it's a good thing I did as well because...

...This guy reacts to it. What could it mean!?

Quite the annoying fight, luckily Sandrah can spam summons.

Not really seeing why this'd be useful for a mage...

Ah, this is the other half of the key we were looking for!

We go back to the tomb...

...Beat up the guardians...

...And find Ghotal's sword. I know just where to g-

...Uh-oh.

Luckily our goals seem to be aligned and he vanished without a fight. Nice change of pace considering how these things usually end with Sandrah in the party.

We go back to Salamander Island, looks like we'll have to beat up someone for him.

They approach us single file and are surprisingly easy to defeat.

We get the key which allows us to unlock the altar in the Northern Citadel, netting us a Holy Symbol of Helm in the end. If only Ajantis could see us now.

I guess the mystery of the dagger will remain unsolved for now.

With the Holy Symbol in hand we can finally enter this area from the Field of the Dead.

Ghotal seems to be up and about. Coming here might have been a mistake...

Sandrah tries to get to the bottom of things but a fight was inevitable. Poor guy...

We find his golden plate on his corpse and the horn and claw of Kazgaroth while we're at it. Just like that this long questline is at its end, though I'm assuming Sandrah Saga has quite a bit to add to it down the line.

This area is home to Wood Elves who would really appreciate to be left well enough alone. I decide to oblige them.

That's pretty much it for Northern Tales of the Sword Coast, some small quests notwithstanding. The first of two mods we'll be finishing this LP.

First we swap Shar-Teel and Edwin out for Kivan and Xan.

Oh, Xan. You know just how to please me. :allears:

We talked to this guy before but now we're going to tackle the actual Stone of Askavar content.

Don't be sad, Xan! :ohdear:

The Blueberry Woods aren't really noteworthy, the only thing of note are the tents where we meet a hostile party carrying the first talisman we need.

The chainmail also seems important, I hope this doesn't lead to shenanigans...

...Of course it did.

The area north of Nashkel is home to a spider cave with a necromancer deep inside. We get another talisman out of it.

We'd better leave this place before Xan does something drastic.

This beggar gives us the first talisman after we solve his riddle and buy him a ruby from Feldepost's.

Before we continue we have to make a change...

Remember how Gavin would get messengers summoning him to Kelddath who'd direct him to certain quests? There's one that I didn't include that involved disappearances in Beregost, when I went to Kelddath he didn't have anything to say which is why I left it out of the LP. We're about to solve the case while going for the fourth talisman so we might as well bring him along.

Still dull as dirt.

And he has a child!? We might have to look into it later.

Anyway, this home has two quests that are not related to each other. Awkward.

We gladly take care of these upper-class twits. :black101:

This kid has a lead on the fourth talisman, she must be so traumatized. :ohdear:

Oh dear, Xan's getting mopey again. We'd best head upstairs.

Quite the sick puppy, we quickly put her out of her misery.

I never would have guessed Kelddath would feature so many times in this LP, I'm surprised Sandrah hasn't tried to gently caress him yet.

Rescuing Rebecca gets us talisman #4.

This area is filled with fighters and clerics, those pillars cast lightning spells as well. I'd find it annoying but compared to Sandrah's content...

I should've known Harpers would be involved, it's a shame we couldn't save her but at least we can avenge her! :black101:

Her armor makes Gavin a bit less dull.

With all talismans in hand we go back to Cearwin.

Sandrah deduces that he's a harper, with the promise of information we head to the Wood of Sharp Teeth.

I liked Xan's earlier banters a lot more, right now he's just a drag.

The ruins near the Bandit Camp hold the entrance we were looking for. Don't see it? Neither did I for the longest time.... :negative:

Steel was drawn, it didn't end well for them.

We get some Harper swords as well as the titular Stone of Askavar!

We head to Beregost and deliver the stone to Aranor. He's not exactly forthcoming with the information. Oh well.

That's TWO mods dealt with in the span of one chapter, I only wish it was more exciting. Overall I really liked both mods and the areas they added.

Next time we'll finally continue with Vichan's quest.

[Stone of Askavar Stuff]

I always enjoyed this mod for BG1, its pretty simple, limited in scope and tries to do some interesting things. It feels no need to introduce items of a higher tier of power than the game has in its lategame and you can actually do it reasonably right around the time you are setting back out from baldurs gate itself to do more side quests.

Its certainly has flaws. Plenty. I too took forever to find that "door" the first time around. But overall, its good. It has a reasonable scope, tells a self contained story and lives within the natural boundaries of baldurs gate 1 both mechanically and in how you play it.

Definitely one of the best mods I've played so far. They don't go too wild on the combat encounters which I greatly appreciated.

One of the downsides of having so many mods installed is that you run into new content in the weirdest of places, I still think we'll get to the Iron Throne building in the next chapter but boy does the game love to throw curve balls at me.

Chapter LXVIII - (Smile) I am learning daily - from the best, from you.

The good news is that we're visiting the Iron Throne building this update, the bad news is that there's quite a bit of non-Sandrah content before we get to that point, please bear with me.

Before kicking Gavin out of the party we pay a visit to his parents. Exciting stuff, I know.

I'm sure Yeslick wouldn't mind a visit to the Iron Throne.

At first I thought Branwen would make a good sixth member but I changed my mind shortly afterwards, we did get this romance talk out of it. :smith:

Who will be our sixth member instead of her, you ask?

Yep, good ol' Breagar deserves another shot.

These 'items' occupy his shield and ring slot since he lost his arm, a nice touch.

He's still trying to cope with what happened. Poor guy. :(

At least there's some life left in him. :cheerdoge:

We immediately head for the Iron Throne building.

Before we even get near the building...

...Something is about to happen.

Well, excuse me...

Ugh, just as we're about to make progress...

...Who am I kidding, I can't say no to this guy. To the Cloudpeaks!

Ah, we're getting warm.

The giant is immediately laid on his back by Jen'lig's Project Force, we make sure he doesn't get up afterwards.

Quite the random assortiment. Probably run-off-the-mill by dwarf standards though.

He does.

Awesome. Breagar's back in the game! :black101:

Oh, Imoen... :allears:

With that out of the way we can finally head back.

Right you are, Bre-

Revianel!? She's the person running the orphanage! Looks like we'll have to postpone our trip to the Iron Throne. Again.

Taerom can barely hide the fact that they're an item.

Breagar questions my motives and enlightens us a bit on his backstory between Taerom's smithy and the Beregost temple, what a chatterbox.

Tobin takes us to the graveyard, the area is from IWD2, IMO one of the most beautiful areas the Infinity Engine has to offer.

Just one encounter and it's trivial.

We're not done yet, though. We make our way to the entrance to the northeast.

Outside we're accosted by a strange figure, she teleports away leaving us with one skeleton to fight.

We run into her inside, along with some others.

We kill the leader and the others teleport away. Come back, you cowards! :argh:

We run into Revianel shortly afterwards, she seems to be petrified. Luckily I always carry stone to flesh scrolls.

Yeah, she and Taerom are definitely loving. That gives her a Sandrah number of 2. Six Degrees of Sandrah is a very popular parlor game throughout Faerun.

She teleports away, leaving us to investigate the rest of this place.

Oh, how I've missed beard talk...

Well, if you insist.

There, happy now? And to think I could've been done with Candlekeep by this point...

I'm seriously considering just keeping Breagar along but I'm afraid it'll take so much longer to get through the game.

We run into a lich who drops a key, I have no idea what to do with it as I couldn't find anything to use it with. Let's just leave it for now and head back.

They take us back to the smithy.

Revianel can go back to the orphanage, Taerom can 'escort' her whenever he wants and we can sleep soundly knowing that we did good here today.

With that out of the way we can finally get back to what we were supposed to do in the first place. I apologise for all these detours but it wouldn't feel right not to include most of them.

The Iron Throne building looms large on the docks, the dwarf in front of the building approaches us.

Oh dear. Good thing we brought Breagar along, huh?

I absolutely adore this area.

There's not a lot of combat if you know how to avoid it, a nice touch.

There's an ominous atmosphere about the place though.

We talk our way past the guard and head to the next floor.

The guard on this floor warns us, and we get to tease Imoen while we're at it. The dialogue choice at the end there is one of my favorites.

Glad to see you're still with us, Sandrah. I was worried there for a second.

Bribing him is the only option in order to avoid combat.

Being obtuse here saves Nortuary a visit to the mortuary. :rimshot:

Tar can't be dissuaded so we don't even try. Next floor.

...What the hell is up with this guy? Is he supposed to be a Xvart? an emaciated gnome? This has been bothering me for over 20 years. :negative:

Not even anything to drink, oh well. Next floor.

This fight was always a brick wall for me until I finally got some grasp on the mechanics of the game. It felt very good to plow right through them with our overpowered gear. :black101:

The real ambassador Tar is dead in a sideroom, the one seen in the screenshot was a Doppelganger.

Blast it, time to look for clues.

He's too good for my blades, I let him get away.

A letter on a nearby desk confirms what he's saying. Looks like we have to get back to Candlekeep.

That's odd, why is Sarevok claiming that he's already dealt with us?

We also find the contract along with a mithril necklace.

Sandrah makes up for lost time and gets ahead of the plot again while we stroke her ego. Basically the quintessential Sandrah banter, all it is lacking is barely consensual advances. :allears:

We head to the Splurgin' Sturgeon and deliver the contract to Grothir.

It is with this attempt at a joke that I leave you for the day. Next time we'll deliver the news to Eltan, head for Candlekeep and deal with the leaders of the Iron Throne once and for all. I'm also taking suggestions as to who to bring with me/deciding whether or not to kill the Iron Throne leaders, I'm suffering from choice paralysis when it comes to the former.

I'm still behind, hopefully my next comment will be related to the latest chapter!!

Again, great work on handling this LP. You're an angel for having to deal with Sandrah.

With that in mind, let's take all of this out of my chest:

The coran pregnancy thing and him just passionately kissing Vichan is probably the highest point of the LP so far.

And now Sandrah is your sister? Oh lord what a mess.

How did Sandrah manage to NOT gently caress the duke?

As i've said before, i'm playing through BG myself and confirm that Dynaheir's NPC content is so good.

Also, on the werewolf island, when the NPC that asks you for the poison flowers kisses you as thanks, she calls you out for doing favors for young girl kisses :3:

Not related to the mod or anything really, but what's the point of a wizard slayer if they can't wear anything? Barely anything seems to be usable, is the class so powerful to justify not being able to wear barely anything?

One, it gives Imoen a new rape-filled backstory.

Two, you can rape Imoen (she turns into the Slayer and kills you, natch).

Three, there's a whole lot of consensual boning, and IIRC it's pretty explicit.

Four, I hope you like lolmonkeycheese humor because the original writer of the mod sure did!

Ultimately, it gave me vibes similar to Chloe or Sandrah where it makes the NPC the real protagonist and you're just their tag-along. For all her faults as a mod character, Saerileth never gave me quite that vibe. IIRC, it makes the PC out to be completely obsessed with Imoen, that everything you do is for and because of her.

So I was thinking about Sandrah Saga, the ways in which it is bad. The ways it which it could have been trivially made better.

And I had an idea. Something Roxanne should have done. Stop pretending its still the bhaalspawn's story. Make a default Adrian the warrior npc put him in candlekeep and write the entire thing from the perspective of being Sandrah instead.

Won't fix... most problems. But it would have solved some of them.

He's the only one I can think of having content there. Maybe Breagar or Xan as a sixth? Breagar has some Iron Throne stuff as far as I've gathered, and Xan has had the most banters about Candlekeep.

It's a pretty bad class, the inability to wear magic items except for armor and weapons is more of a hurt than then magic resistance and the cumulative spell failure on hit is a help, and the inquisitor paladin kit is actually better at locking down mages. That said, I always thought an elven dart throwing wizard slayer would be a fun gimmick build.

A lot of modders, myself included, had fun with this concept when it comes to writing NPC epilogues if you choose ascension at the end of ToB.

Another modding detail that may be of some interest to folks: a common approach in the Baldur's Gate modding community when it comes to writing the PC is to consciously write a set of different 'voices' for the PC. Think of this like the icons on the dialogue wheel in a Bioware game. To help focus the writing of the mod, set up three or four consistent approaches for the PC.

I actually first encountered this idea with the BG1 NPC Project, and the writer of the Shar-Teel romance. She explained that she wrote three main voices for the PC: an aggressive, belligerent guy; a relatively nice and idealistic guy; and an intelligent, snarky guy compared to Edwin.

It's a useful approach, speaking as a hobbyist writer, and I adopted it in my own mods. More consciously with Darian, where I very deliberately wrote three main voices for the PC (a serious, polite, understanding PC; a prickly and confrontational PC; and a light-hearted trollish PC). Less so with Valerie.

It's been interesting seeing which mods follow this approach and which don't. It's not really about choice so much as choosing the scenery on your railroad.

Sandrah, of course, does nothing of the sort.

Chapter LXIX - And then - please understand me right, I am not talking out of vanity - I felt so disappointed that she never had the pleasure to get to know - me.

:heysexy:

Imoen speaking in Dwarven would certainly make her conversations with Sandrah more bearable. What's Dwarven for quickest?

We discuss theology with Breagar a bit, I've got to say I really like him.

We're going to have to let him go, though. Despite being listed as having content with Sandrah we haven't seen a drop of it so far. Considering that the mod that adds him has only been translated to English relatively recently makes me think that she interacted with the German version of the mod.

Breagar has content throughout the Baldur's Gate trilogy and considering what we've seen so far I can definitely recommend him, I'll certainly be giving him a shot in a post-Sandrah playthrough. :)

Shar-Teel will be replacing him.

Don't know if I mentioned it before but declining to work for Eltan causes him to run up and kill us. Cold.

It's been awhile since we've seen a Chapter page, hasn't it? Thankfully we'll have no more distracti-

...God drat it.

He steals the book, teleports away and leaves us to deal with some thieves.

Thankfully Jen'lig points us in the right direction.

Sandrah brings up the subject of my mother just so she can talk about hers. Her feigned humility isn't fooling anyone.

He leaves again, leaving us with thieves as well as an invisible stalker. Since he said something about mines we head for Nashkel.

Zernan decides to attack us here, big mistake. The note points us towards the Nashkel carnival.

We visit Noober while we're at it, he's finally found a loving home. :unsmith:

There's an eccentric gnome here but we're full up as it is.

The mysterious man confirms that we should be heading to the mines.

They're absolutely crawling with spiders of all sorts.

Oh dear, Drow are involved now? We'd best head to the mines to find out what's going on, not to mention get our book back. :argh:

Spiders, webs and noxious fumes. It's like we're back in Cloakwood.

We also run into Drow, just as Sandrah predicted. It's quite the challenging area, in a good way.

The Drow Priestess is not interested in conversation, leading to a pretty fun final fight.

Shar-Teel got hit in the final moments of the fight, luckily Sandrah can revive her.

We get some nice armor.

As well as the book we were looking for. Its contents are interesting and we'll get back to them in a moment.

Normally we'd be done in the mines...

...But Sandrah insists on pressing on.

We rest a bit first, leading to another dark dream.

More drow! They seem to be...friendly?

Can I just say I HATE how everyone and their mother refer to Sandrah as a counsellor, including Sandrah herself? It sounds so arrogant and it feels unearned since she just seems to have a copy of the script handy.

With that bit of lore over and done with we're going to Ulcaster.

Yes, Ulcaster.

The Vampiric Sword was added in Tales of the Sword Coast and was one of the more obscure items in the game, leading to lots of forum posts on whether or not it actually existed. You can get it by giving the Idol of Kozah and some ruined armor from Firewine to the Ulcaster Ghost, due to mods we have installed we had to wait to get the clues to go here.

Sandrah immediately recognizes it, of course.

The sword allows us to free Torqion.

Taerom points us to the temple of Gond in the Hall of Wonders...

...Where a priest gives us some backstory and points us to a vampire hoard somewhere along the coast.

The 'eternal divination' soon arrives in the form of Sandrah. I know where to look now.

:bang:

Alright, look.

I have no problem with Sandrah being all lovey-dovey and fantasizing about our life together after this is done. But she ALSO fantasized about a life together with Kivan, Xan and probably others that I forgot. As others have mentioned in the thread having the party be a polycule is quite an interesting concept but Roxanne has absolutely no idea how to competently portray something like that at all. Even if you bring up the fact that you're uncomfortable with her sleeping with other people, including a man who's brain damaged to the point that he likes to be read before bedtime, she gets all huffy and can even leave the party while claiming that she's 'run out of patience'. And keep in mind that we have NO WAY of avoiding this scenario, she basically forces a romance upon you and will always sleep around, including people like Aldeth and Scar who she has barely any dialogue with whatsoever before deciding to sleep with them.

I apologise for rambling but this poo poo is so infuriating that I had to vent. It doesn't help that she starts every banter with the voiceline 'Sounds good to me' to the point that I get infuriated when I click on her during combat and hear that line again. Pavlov's dogs have NOTHING on me by this point.

Anyway, let's move on.

I don't know how much more of this I can take... :gonk:

The island is on a river in the area next to the Gnoll Stronghold.

The sentry casts a fireball on us and we get teleported.

Immediately some golems attack us.

And further along is a single vampire.

After he dies a lot of loot teleports in. Mostly consisting of gold, gems and scrolls.

We meet the sentry again who explains the nature of this place. We decide not to go anywhere to plunder the vault's contents.

Sandrah knows all about these places of course. After bashing our heads against the wall we teleport out.

As a bonus I give you this encounter that I completely forgot about. Leaving it 'till after Candlekeep would make no sense so here it is.

Next time we'll finally return to Candlekeep and deal with some of my favourite moments from the trilogy. Promise.

Yeah, that's a pretty good summary of everyone's issues with this. There is no point giving the player 'choices' when all except the one you want them to pick will lead to a softlock. If you want to write a story with no choices, make your OC the main character and stop the pretence that the player has any kind of control.

Nothing to add about the incredibly badly handled romances that hasn't already been said. Just. Sigh. Roxanne very obviously has no interest in learning from any of the feedback she's been given. I'd almost feel sorry for her if it wasn't for the abusive undertones running through so much of this.

also one day you're going to be talking to a woman who will innocently say 'Sounds good to me' and you'll punch the poor soul in the face out of sheer reflex

Here is the voice file in case you're interested.

The 'play audio' thing won't load for me, weird. Does it work for you guys? The Baldur's Gate wiki has the same issue.

Example.

They're included at the bottom there for a reason, we can only hope that it won't link to Sandrah at some point.

Wow, that's... not remotely the sort of voice I'd have imagined.

I don't see a 'play audio' toolbar either, I had to click on the download link to hear it.

I'm pretty sure she's voiced by at least two different people as well. I might cover that at a later time.

Sandrah does have a fair bit of english content with Breagar, looking at the mod files.

I've copied the Breagar dialogues Sandrah adds to a pastebin because spoilers: https://pastebin.com/XjhPHWzE

Also I don't think Sandrah has a German version at all, but I'm not 100% on that.

e: looking at the text (because I can't be bothered to look at the scripts) it seems to trigger when she heals him, so maybe try to do that?

Huh, I wonder why we've never seen anything. Maybe it's like Valerie and their banters are gated behind certain events.

The 'Sandrah heals' banters never seem to trigger for me anymore, which is a shame because apparently there are a lot of them.

That might be it since it seems to start with that. But it's just an assumption I'd really have to look at the scripts to find out and I haven't done that in like 5 years or more.

It might also have something to do with Roxanne's weird scripting. They're not scripted like normal banters, so normal diagnostics are iffy. It's possible something is just screwed up.

Didn't Prince of Lies or one of the other Cyric-centric novels open up with someone being tricked into going to the Wall of the Faithless because he didn't lead a life in-line with his god's values? Like I'm pretty sure Mask tricked him into dying in something that seemed to be right but woops soul still too sinful, gotta get put in the wall.

You're absolutely right, loaded an old save and it triggered. No idea why it didn't do so before, it's not like Sandrah never heals people.

I think I've got the hang of triggering those banters now, let's see if any other characters will become more talkative this way.

Oh right, Drizzt also gets a line to Sandrah's grandma, doesn't he?

At the end of this, we'll reach a point of universal Sandrah saturation: Every person on the Sword Coast will be acquainted with at least one person who had sex with Sandrah.

Don't know if I mentioned it before but declining to work for Eltan causes him to run up and kill us. Cold.

I know this is Sandrah's Gate: Tales of the Sandrah Coast but even without mods this part of BG1 is The Literal Worst. This game isn't great for trying to roleplay, but at least most of it gives you some freedom to try and talk and/or fight with various characters. This time, it just straight up railroads you to do this one quest or cutscene die.

I still remember seeing that, reloading and trying to survive his attack (he casts Flamestrike iirc) by chugging various potions and finally even positioning Charname on another floor to initiate dialogue with another character - but no, even if you can take the hit or prevent him from landing it on the main character, his script straight up has "kill player 1" in it, :atlus: you cannot escape.

Basically if it's Baldur's Gate and your name starts with El, gently caress right off :suicide:

Breagar is pretty cool though.

Not gonna lie, when you got the note with the N and then cut straight to Noober, i kind of wondered for a moment...

Chapter LXX - Oh, my bestest puffing daddy, let me kiss and kiss ya quickest.

No more distractions, this is the chapter where we tackle Candlekeep. :hai:

An Ogre Mage tries to sidetrack us but we brush him aside like it's nothing. :smuggo:

Finally, we're back in Candlekeep!

Good idea, my counsellors. :downs:

We soon run into Cadderly. And old friend of Gorion's, it seems.

We're going to reconnect with a lot of old friends this chapter. In more ways than one.

These are the vanilla conversations with Winthrop, in between them...

:suicide:

I don't know why but I'm constantly baffled by how bad Imoen's dialogue is. Did no-one proofread this?

Aside from the lovely writing it's a sweet moment, I guess.

Nice to see you too, Reevor.

Time to explore the grounds.

That's...odd.

I hope they didn't dig Gorion up after we went through the trouble of burying him.

Don't remember this character? He was re-added with BG1: Unfinished Business.

The ever vigilant Parda warns us that something is amiss.

Fuller is hanging out at the infirmary.

We run into a priest of Oghma, is that a...?

Wait, wh-

Oh sh-

I have to admit this scared the hell out of me as a kid. For once Sandrah's insights don't feel as forced.

:allears:

Enough dawdling outside, time to go in!

After the obligatory FMV we're flee to explore Candlekeep's interior! (I really wish you were able to visit it in the prologue)

Who needs Alaundo when we have Sandrah? :smuggo:

Karan warns us about Koveras.

Don't you hate it when this happens?

Some of Alaundo's prophecies are in the shelves.

:swoon:

Bendalis also tells us to be wary of Koveras and seems concerned about a fellow monk.

...Alright then.

This Koveras doesn't seem so bad, that ring looks n-

...We can't say we didn't see this coming, can we?

Taking our counselor's advice to heart we don't take him up on his offer.

Imagine roleplaying as an evil character only to have Sandrah tell you that you are no murderer. Roxanne says that Sandrah works with all alignments. Roxanne is a liar.

The Chanter seems to be one of the good ones, telling us about Candlekeep's catacombs. Hopefully we don't have to go there.

Not all priests of Oghma are kooky.

Shistal turns out to be a doppelganger, imagine how more unnerving it would have been if we'd run into him in the prologue.

On this floor we also run into Rieltar, meeting some Knights of the Shield together with Brunos, another leader of the Iron Throne.

Killing them right now just doesn't feel right, especially seeing as though Koveras seems to want us to.

We take the time to bother Rieltar's companions.

This is what would have happened if we'd decided to fight it out. There's no post-battle talk or anything which is another reason why I've decided not to bother with it.

Piato tells us to check Gorion's room.

Inside we find a letter that turns our life upside down.

(BG1NPC turns it into a conversation in addition to the item that was originally there for some reason, probably so some of the companions could react to it.)

The only one who speaks up is Jen'lig. To be fair it's the only thing I need. :colbert:

On the top floor we're told that someone is waiting for us outside, let's explore this floor first.

Tethtoril brushing us off always rubbed me the wrong way.

I'd also expected more from Ulraunt, albeit in a different way. Oh well.

Outside we are immediately arrested for a crime we didn't commit.

Ulraunts is convinced of our guilt...

...Luckily Tethtoril bails us out by teleporting us to the catacombs.

No turning back.

Phlydia!? No! :negative:

In the western corner of the catacombs is a zombie lord that spawns ghouls, it's a good thing we arrived when we did otherwise we'd have been overwhelmed.

This tomb is a veritable treasure trove. Gems, a nifty cloak...

A book on Mystra which we already found in Ordolath's house.

As well as one of Alaundo's prophecies.

We'd better hold onto it.

Yeslick's banters are the best. :allears:

In the next area we run into more doppelgangers. Did they already completely replace our friends? I hope they're okay... :ohdear:

Arkanis and Deder show up to help. :)

We lose Deder to a zombie lord's cloudkill and while we're running away from it we run into a fireball trap that kills Arkanis. :negative:

Oh boy, Gorion is still alive and he's trying to save us! :downs:

Luckily Sandrah is there to point out that they're doppelgangers!

I love how that last bit of dialogue implies that thss is an actualy word instead of a sound. Thsss, I say!

It's good to know Jen'lig has our back, I've really grown fond of her.

Imoen doesn't react to Winthrop being a doppelganger, perhaps it's for the best.

Leaving the catacombs we enter some caves where we meet a man who definitely lives up to his name.

Sandrah's advice seems strange, what exactly are we supposed to do at this point?

Forgot to screenshot this but the basilisks in this area have been changed to medusas for some reason.

Diarmid in his stupidity fills us in on Sarevok's plans before running away.

And just like that we've escaped Candlekeep and are in the final chapter of BG1. And it only took us 70 chapters!

Yeslick's words fill me with resolve, we're finally getting to the fi-
