If there's one thing I know about Star Wars EU stuff, it's that somewhere someone has written a detailed backstory of why Dash wears two-thirds of a tire, where the tire came from, and what happened to the other third.

There's actually a documentary about Shadows of the Empire that reveals the true reason for Dash Rendar's tire:Jon Knoles posted:We had to give him some big hulky shoulder pads to hide the fact that, in those days, we didn't have smooth joints for characters. So you would see the arm penetrate into the body in weird ways. Effectively, every joint is like a capsule pushed into each other, and it looks really bad if you can't figure out a way to hide it. So that's where the shoulder pads came in.

It has occurred to me recently that Finn appears to be wearing the Dash Rendar pants all throughout The Rise of Skywalker [Link to a DeviantArt page because I can't find a better image source] which is an amazing thing to notice because Finn is in that movie for about 2 minutes, tops.
