I played through 7R last year, and have no intention of picking it up again. I'm just amazed that it's being offered at all, and that it's free for new players who have been waiting to give it a shot. Happy for the gamers that do get to enjoy probably one of the best PS+ offerings to date.

I'm actually thinking about dropping my Charge Blade for a bit next time I go back to it, even though it's taken me through all of Iceborne and I've finally got the Raging Brachi set/weapon all put together. I'm basically right about to get deep into the endgame stuff, I've cleared the special assignments for Zinogre and Brachydios which just leaves Furious Rajang and Alatreon (and then Fatalis). Also a bunch of guiding lands levelling so I can augment stuff. But every time I play I go back to this one tempered Black Diablos optional quest and get stomped. gently caress that guy in particular. I just can't ever get the chance to put any real damage into it, and genuinely think I need to swap back to the bow or something.

Basically Sony made no effort to get demos of PS4 titles working, only actual paid games were prioritized. So there are some small older demos of games that don't work on a PS5 (e.g. the first FF15 demo is incompatible (the bahamut hunt one), but the later Platinum Demo does work). That said, everything that was newly released on PS4 after Ghost of Tsushima is required to be compatible, including demos etc.

what determines which weapon drops differs from boss to boss, which is why i said you should look it up before going into the fight. there are certain conditions you need to meet to change which of the two weapon drops you get. for the most part (my memory isnt perfect it may just be actual default) i think you get the gun by killing the boss normally and the melee by the alternate method, but at the same time you can accomplish the alternate method by accident during the fight.

being vague for spoiler purposes one boss if you shoot it in the legs enough will change its attack patterns and then drop the alternate weapon drop.

boss weapons all have unique mods on them that makes them very different than regular weapon drops, and generally speaking they're usually what you end up using for most of the game, or at least what i did, so if you get a weapon type you hate from a boss drop i feel like it can really drastically hurt your enjoyment of the game. especially the first one you get, if you hate the third boss weapon you get you've probably got options you like.
