I wonder if Hollywood is scared of horny because of Me Too. But yes, at some point the horny was absorbed by TV, like Showtime, HBO, Cinemax had all sorts of shows. I think it varies on streaming.

Schwarzwald posted:Fury Road is in agreement with the article, being a film but a story about the commoditization of desexualized bodies, but in that respect its almost anti-horny. I ended up getting it in a used Luc Besson box set from Disc Replay. There is some ickyness, but it's in the direction of Matilda towards Leon, and he does not reciprocate. I don't want to spoil anymore, but one of the added scenes provides a nice callback for the final scene featuring Leon. In a way that's ickier, because she's a teenage girl asking for it, she has the agency here! cargohills posted:The blu-ray I have has both and I didn't try very hard at all to find it. No, I don't think you're right. There is sex but it is sexless. There is nothing erotic about it. It's two immaculate sculpted bodies engaging in a very rehearsed choreographed performance.

It reminds me of the sex scene in Don't Look Now, which is awkward and unconvincing but is supposed to be two people who used to be in love and are so broken by their daughter's death who are trying to reconnect. I feel like the Quantum of Solace sex scene (which if I'm remembering correctly is just Bond sheepishly inviting the woman into his room and not them actually loving at all) is a little bit like that, he's still reeling from the emotional and physical trauma from Casino Royale and trying to remember what it was like to allow himself to have fun and connect with somebody.

Bond never actually has sex scenes, it's always Bond making out with someone or undoing their dress or whatever and then it cuts to the scene post-sex. They're always PG-13 so there's never any scenes where Bond is actually in the act of having sex with someone. We can watch Eva Green graphically drown right in front of Bond's eyes but sex is a no go.

Pretty sure the Brosnan movies have at least a few "in bed with the sheets inexplicably covering them" scenes. "I thought Christmas only came once a year" etc. Besides, I don't think the QOS one even had them kissing, or her accepting his advances or anything. Just him clearly asking this girl to come to his room for reasons and her smirking.

That's true, although it's still a cherrypicked moment where Bond isn't actually in the act of having sex, it's like immediately afterwards and they're still in bed with each other but the sex is basically over(or about to start up again). With Bond I kinda get it though because it's always been PG-13 and you can't really show thrusting or anything like that with PG-13. At least I don't think you can. drat well that proved me wrong, this is definitely the exception to the rule though.

If we're talking Brosnan and horny I don't think anything prepared me for The Thomas Crowne Affair and the sheer length of the scene with Rene Russo. I think it's a good use of horny though since it's so over the top like the rest of the movie and it shows actual chemistry. I think. Been many years since I've seen it. But yeah you'd be hard pressed to have that scene in a modern high budget movie.

Be prepared to have the theme song stuck in your head all of you who watch this. You're right but it was interesting to see how Romero justified his stance with Night of the Living Dead. It's completely plausible that he and his crew weren't going out of their way to make some kind of racial allegory, they were all just a bunch of hippies (for example, the movie could as easily have taken place in the late 60's with the slang and so on). While that's partly due to the fact that it takes place in semirural Pennsylvania, already 10-15 years behind culturally, but also the overall attitude of the film - cops are fascist, abusive shitheads, rednecks hate cops except when they enforce the racial and sexual pecking order, shoplifting is ethical - plenty of stuff that's just part and parcel with that worldview.
