I think we see them (the Scopuli) approach a ship and then a stealth ship shows up next to it, but maybe it was disguised, or I'm just misremembering.

So the Anubis boards the Scopuli and spaces the crew but one of the protogen people recognized Julie as Mao's daughter so they lock her up in a cell. Then the entire crew of the Anubis gets infected with the protomolecule. Alone in the ship, Julie breaks out, finds it, gets infected, parks the ship, powers down, plants an OPA beacon and takes the shuttle to Eros.

Donno if book info is allowed here, but they don't know why they're being boarded.

After being boarded, they get transferred over to the Anubis. The attackers get fresh with Julie, who's been spending a fair bit of time learning space-karate. She kicks the poo poo out of the attackers (with a cold intensity that partially makes Miller fall for her) and ultimately, she gets cold-clocked by someone out of her vision. The commander says something along the lines of "If this bitch makes another sound, shoot her" and they throw her into a storage locker.

I don't think it had much to do with her being a Mao.

In the show they say something like "kill everyone but her. that girl is complicated... " (implying is because of who her dad is)

Yea, its pretty clear, I just forgot they had that whole scene explaining how Julie got to Eros. Though I am curious how she didn't hear everyone get protomoloculed.

I wonder if the Julie Miller starts seeing is like the Miller Holden sees later. Or he's just bonkers due to being microwaved at high for 30 seconds.

The more you kick against the pricks, the more you suffer.
It's funny how pretelling Julie's story throws everyone off. She was a prisoner on the Anubis when it helped take down the Donnager (you can hear the Anubis' crew running to battle stations and popping off railgun rounds in her intro.)

As far as I can tell the rough timeline is

1.Anubissteals/collects Protomolecule from Phoebe Station burns for Eros.
*
2. OPA gets wind of the plot, sends the OP-A-Team to intercept the Anubis on the Scorpuli.
3. Donnager arrives at Phoebe's remains and begins burning in the last known heading of the Anubis.
4. OP-A-Team "intercepts" the Anubis but they get wrecked and boarded. Julie is captured.
5. Anubis crew puts a Martian distress beacon on the Scorpuli and sets it up as a trap for the Donnager.
6. The Canterbury blunders into the trap, gets blown up.
7. Donnager picks up the Knight.
*
8. Anubis and other stealth ships attack the Donnager.
9. Anubis is infected and scuttled.
10.Julie escapes the Anubis and burns for Eros in the Anubis' shuttle.
11. Holden blows up the Anubis.

In retrospect, it seems pretty clear that the protomolecule on the Anubis escaped as a result of battle damage sustained fighting the Donnager.

*At some point the Anubis is joined by the other stealth ships.

Oh yea I didn't think of that, and you're right about the out of sequence telling of the story makes it a bit confused. I thought the Anubis had been there before the series started, but nope.

Nah, we see the protogen scientist who tells them to lock Julie up coughing a bunch, suggesting she probably got infected on Phoebe.

Regarding the Don Quixote stuff, I've felt that the show/books (much more apparent in the books, which is why I stopped reading them) have some gross libertarian undertones, in that helping people who don't "deserve it" is inherently bad. I missed that with Holden's idealism but I definitely noticed it with the Basic stuff on Earth.

Tycho is mobile and has its own epstein/epsteins. It's in orbit around Sol somewhere in the asteroid belt proper, like Ceres.

I was going to say like Ceres and Eros, then I looked up Eros and it's orbit around Sol is between Earth and Mars, and it's mean orbit is closer to Earth, which kind of broke my brain since it felt like it was further out in the belt. Like Tycho flung the Nauvoo out into the system at Eros instead of inward/across.

that's not saying that "helping people who don't deserve it is bad," its making a point that earth literally has more population than they know how to deal with and more than enough wealth to help them, but refuses to do anything but the bare minimum of cutting them a barebones welfare check and telling them to learn to code. It has completely failed to raise up even those with ability and merit, like the dude who became an ersatz medic after being on the trade lottery for his entire adult life. Like, Earth in the Expanse could probably easily do public housing for all and institute make-work programs so that people could use their time and energy effectively, but that would cut into the wardrobe and liquor budgets of the errinwrights and avasaralas of the world.

I'm thinking about this too much, so help me out goons:

In s1e5, Miller is looking at the data he found in the leg of Julie's dead data-broker pal. It tell us that the OPA somehow learned of an unlisted flightplan for a ship called the Anubis, departing Phoebe for Eros. Protogen probably leaked this intentionally to lure a ship there to bait the Donnager and distract Earth & Mars from the coming Eros shenanigans. The Protogen dudes react pretty quickly and calmly to the Scopuli incident, as if all is according to plan, so that would make sense. Later, in the s1e9 flashback of Julie on the Scopuli hiding behind an asteroid, their ship's sensors label the other ship as 'Anubis'. But as soon as they get close enough to get a clear view of the ship, the belter captain guy is like "Where did that come from?!" and Julie half-whispers something like "That's the Anubis..." as if she recognizes it? Maybe even knowing the Anubis is gunship from some kind of Mao family business chat after dinner years ago? But... they had planned to intercept a ship called Anubis the whole time? So, why does she sound half-surprised to run into the Anubis? Were they expecting the Ann-u-bus instead?

Maybe Julie's line was supposed come across as a reply to the OPA captain's confusion, like "That IS the Anubis. (also we're hosed)" but it certainly doesn't sound like that to me.

e: oh come on there was a post almost identical to mine on the last page and I missed it?!
