No, Joker is the False Prophet. He wants us to rise up, only to make fools of us in front of society.

Well, THX-1138 already had Robert Duvall getting jacked off by a machine before settling in for an evening of watching The Police Brutality Channel, so it was already pretty horny and violent.

This is one of the changes in the re-release that always confused me because it radically altered the meaning of the scene. In the original he jacks himself off, but in the special edition a robot does it. I guess the latter matches the themes of the film better, even it modifies how THX sees sexuality as an escape from his life. But also, now he finds that escape exclusively through another person. So maybe it's good? I've never been able to make my mind up about it.

It's not that I don't like Milla Jovovich. I think she's very good at doing what she does. But she also has an amazing ability to be in movies that I find wholly uninteresting. Over and over again.

It's rather remarkable.

I guess it's just people making movies I don't want to see have type cast her for those movies.

I can't tell if this is supposed to be serious or a comedy because it almost comes off as a parody of stuff like The Kingsman.

Anyway something that definitely wants you to take it seriously, Amazon's Without Remorse adaptation.

I read that Octavia Spencer wanted to do the horror-thriller Ma because she was sick of being cast as middle-aged black lady in dramas, so good for her!

Fun fact! I worked on Ma a bit. I did a lot of the (invisible) VFX for the movie and a lot of the digital on-set props. I used JustInMind to create a lot of the FB profiles and interactive Instagram stuff for Octavia to use so it was (mostly) captured in camera.

I was on set for about 3 days and she is super sweet and just like you imagine. For an Oscar winner, there was absolutely zero diva poo poo and we were filming in some not ideal locations so she didn't have a trailer and stuff. She just hung around on a nearby couch.

I remember walking her through the instagram setup where she had a very specific path she had to take through these instagram profiles to get to a certain one. It was a little complicated (I just made what I was told - didn't design the path she was to take) and she just stared at me and was like "uh... no I'm not doing that. I'm too old to remember that poo poo." So we shortened it.

Anyway that's one of my few Ma stories. Everybody on that movie was super sweet and, from what I could tell, it was a fun set.

I love the idea and it looks like they have nailed the execution. Am looking forward to it. I think Melissa McCarthy works best when she can be silly, but not over the top. Looks like they are striking that balance.

It was sad watching just how good she was for 7 seasons of Gilmore Girls to then get typecast in completely the opposite direction. I'm glad the universe is balancing things out, as I was sad when I would read things by people with generally good taste saying she isn't funny or talented, when that's just plainly not true.

She's great. I mean I'm a sucker for good physical comedy, but she just has impeccable comedic timing as well.

Blame her husband for constantly writing those "FAT WOMAN FALL DOWN HURR" roles for her. It's mind-boggling how she didn't dump his rear end by now.

It's a shame as the films he wrote that I saw (I didn't see Tammy, but saw The Boss and Life of the Party) both could've been somewhat enjoyable with some better writing. They weren't dreadful, but pretty forgettable for the most part.

Yeah that was a great film and more people should check it out, definitely a sleeper. Super interesting story, and both her and Richard E. Grant are just great.

Don't forget St.Vincent either with Bill Murray - goddamn amazing movie. They both should have gotten nominations for it IMO. Can You Ever Forgive Me was incredible too - she has more hits than misses IMO.
