As someone who has only gotten sorta good with Incineroar, playing Pyra and Mythra is very neat. You can get teh gameplay style down with Mythra and then when you need some extra oomph you switch in Pyra to commit death crimes. Feels good.

Hey, free Sophia spirit for having played Persona 5 Strikers! I should get back to that game, Azur Lane Crosswave has just consumed all my game time lately... I haven't played as Pyra/Mythra yet but I did do the important thing: listen to the music. New Yuzo Koshiro track and it owns! Counterattack sounds like Dynasty Warriors music and I mean that as the highest compliment. My favorite track of all though is Death Match With Torna. It's the best one as far as I'm concerned.

Looks like some extra spirits were snuck into today's update. If you have a Persona 5 Strikers save on your Switch, you get Sophia. If you have a Ghosts 'n' Goblins Resurrection save, you get Arthur. Supposedly they'll be made available to everyone else at a later date. Kind of surprising that they haven't done this with more games, TBH.

Characters aside, this pack is worth it entirely for the songs. What an impressive collection. Also Mythra and Pyra are very fun, but seriously, that music! Smash living up to the thread title here.

If you go through classic mode, you'll get either the Pyra or Mythra fighting spirit depending on who is in the lead at the fighter selection screen. Although you could buy the other one if you want.

I don't particularly enjoy seeing gamers get horny on main either, but if avoiding that was the goal then these characters shouldn't have been included at all. We have to face the reality we're in.

I'm not really here to defend XBC2 or whatever, never played either of em and one of them apparently is about binding women to you? Or something. I don't care. But every other word doesn't have to be "ha ha big boob", doing that constantly with female characters is bad and dumb and gross.

i was observing that there is an inverse correlation between how well received the character choice is and how often people will insist they are especially fun to play. you might call this the byleth theorem min-min proves the opposite because they are a cool character and fun to play

i don't really play smash even tho it's fun, and i think pyra and mythra look cool to play as and not very porny (tho i checked out both their arts and i like mythras design a lil more)!  i usually lose but once i won with terry while mashing lots of buttons

I have like 4 facts of XC 2 that I know of and everything else is a big  How...old are Pyra and Mythra? Is this a hundreds or thousands of years situation? As far as I know, they're sci-fi sword lightsabers that're also people just like Soul Eater so I'm wondering how ancient the civilization that made them was.

I mean most of those same antagonists also have blades of their own and their leader is aiming to destroy the world largely because of his hatred towards humanity for killing his girlfriend (who was also his driver). And the evil church they're all raging against is also the secret antagonist of the game. Its a very melodramatic shonen jrpg plot where the weapons are also people and the moral there is that this means you should not treat them as tools but as friends and equals because they aren't any different from humans! Which is how all the good guys act even with the non-plot blades when you do their sidequests.

This is a pretty great patch. They didn't nerf G&W  and neither of my characters got anything at all but a lot of the runaway top tier characters got some actual balancing, and it's nice to see that Sakurai gives a poo poo.So I may have accidentally played Pyra for nine hours and she's a ton of fun, just like everyone's been saying. She's Sheik with a sword, but what if Sheik could turn into Donkey Kong and back whenever you wanted? My takeaways so far: - There is no real reason to open a match with Pyra (unless you just like her more) - Pyra's frame data is pretty bad, but her range is better than Mythra's and her attack power is bananas, so you typically want to switch to her when your opponent is in a bad spot (above you, offstage, etc) and you can afford to make a slip up. Likewise, if you're the one that's in a bad spot, Mythra's superior speed will get you back to safety much easier. - Their major weakness is that their recovery is garbage. Mythra has the option to use Photon Edge, but it doesn't reach very far. Prominence Revolt goes just a touch higher than Blade of Punishment/Chroma Dust, but Pyra's airspeed is worse than Mythra's. If you like using Wolf or Chrom or Cloud, having a bad recovery is nothing new to you, but for everyone else, keep in mind that once you're offstage, you can't afford to be making many mistakes. - Foresight is a gift and a curse and getting it offstage is the flashiest way to SD in the game One of the things that makes Pyra and Mythra so great is that there isn't any technical stuff to keep in mind - nothing like sweet spots or comeback mechanics or anything RNG. All you need to know is Mythra weak but fast and Pyra slow but strong, and everything else is exactly what's written on the paper. Their design is always going to be a sticking issue with a lot of people, but I've yet to see a person say "actually, they're pretty unfun and lovely to play as or against," and that's lovely.
