This was a really good episode and the highlight of the season. There's a few jokes at the beginning that feel disjointed but ultimately it was good adn they didn't go where i expected them to

I didn't think it was going to where it ended up, and the fact that the whole charade almost worked was hilarious. Basically, it was an opposite day Jimmy Pesto insurrection.

That song at the end and the dance was just great, it almost felt like they'd had that idea first and gone "wait, let's do an episode about it"

I'm not against the idea of a trans Belcher kid, but it'd be easier to declare the unaired pilot episode canon and say that the town has just been really supportive in Tina's transitioning.

When they say that Bob is canonically bi is there anything to support that other than the scenes with the guy at the grocery store who he keeps buying turkeys from?

Aside from him literally saying he’s bi you mean? Do you need an episode where like Bob sucks a dick to be satisfied?

You could've just said that Bob says he's bi, instead of being an rear end. Maybe drop the episode # on me. Not all of us are Bob's Burgers wiki admins

What if I refused to believe that a bi man would be happily married and instead has to live a life of miser where he tries (and fails) to deftly navigate between various affairs and the straight and gay social scene? As a bisexual, I've found that due to biphobia it is easier to set my sexuality by city (and in some large metro areas, by neighborhood). I can be straight or I can be gay. I'm married now so I'm all gay all the time. That also smarts because it makes me a stereotype where bisexuality is a train stop on the way to gaytown and everybody lives in straightown or gaytown. I get it, there is some truth. We live in an atomized culture based around the nuclear family. Outside of poly situations, which I've found to be incredibly unstable, as a bi you pick a partner and then your orientation follows. Anyway, Bob being bi and happily heterosexually married is a good thing for bi representation. Put in whatever order you'd like. Fries are OK. If you could bring out an onion while I wait that'd be great.

VinylonUnderground posted:What if I refused to believe that a bi man would be happily married and instead has to live a life of miser where he tries (and fails) to deftly navigate between various affairs and the straight and gay social scene? This is a good post. I have two bi friends: a guy who I've been in bands with, and a married (to a man) woman. And the guy has pretty much that experience: if he's with a guy, he is on his way to gaytown as far as his SO is concerned; if he's with a woman (which he is now), he's just scampered back to straightville as far as his LGBTQ friends are concerned. The woman is my wife, who is OK with me saying that. (Writing this post and changing myself and her to a different couple got awkward really quick for multiple reasons.) And while we do have some LGBTQ friends, they don't go out of their way to see her as part of the community, assuming they even believe her. And, the straight folks who know about it usually first ask how many threesomes we have, and later they want to know if she can date and sleep with women since she's bi. Because monogamy doesn't work if you're bisexual, but being in a monogamous relationship with a man and a woman at the same time is as close as you can get to marital bliss you're bi.

CarpenterWalrus posted:What the gently caress is this sentence? They recognize Bob identifies as bi, then immediately says "bisexual" doesn't count as "LGBT." Why do Ls and Gs hate Bs so much? Because neither gays nor straights, nor anyone else in the spectrum, seem to believe that bi people are actually bi. They're either straight people who are thinking about going gay and who may or may not do it, or they're gay people who are thinking about going straight. Also, non-binary people wonder how they can even think they're "bi" when pan is the new thing that is allowed to exist in this in-between land that not only isn't really allowed to exist in the first place but isn't in-between because that implies that there is one thing on one side and one thing on another. I've been married to a bi woman for 25+ years. In that time, I've seen acceptance for every other form of non-vanilla (i.e., binary straight cis or whatever) sexuality grow in acceptance except for bisexuality. I doubt it's better for people who identify as pan. And a surprising amount of non-acceptance comes from the L and G parts of LGBTQ. Always has, and probably always will. Now, to be fair, it would appear that bisexuals have gotten more acceptance. But when you consider that said acceptance consists mostly of THREESOMES! and/or polygamy because THREESOMES!, then... yeah, no, it hasn't grown in acceptance. The stereotypes have simply become more acceptable. tarlibone fucked around with this message at 06:24 on Mar 22, 2021 |
