Random Question: Anyone play the -Prophecy of the Throne- game? Good/bad? If the story is worth it and combat isn't a slog, I'll probably pick it up.

It's a fairly short VN, about 12-ish hours to beat it once through. The combat is just... kinda there to rack up death ends, but it's not difficult or anything. I thought the character moments were a lot of fun, it was basically like a retelling of Arc 3 with "mysterious impostor" plot instead of White Whale Holy Grail

It's interesting how much Subaru's-Emilia's thing parallels itself with other characters. As a side note Angry Ram is cute So how exactly was Garfield able to finally overcome Elsa, is there a limit to her regeneration like she can't recover from being splattered? I wonder what exactly was the significance of the meeting between Wrath and Emilia; my understanding is that Emilia's "real" mother is the Witch of Envy but I wonder why Emilia insisting her "actual" mother was Fortuna was important to Wrath? And then what exactly went on after Emilia completed the trial, she couldn't seem to see Echidna's body for some reason? Will this be elaborated on later? Did Gar's sister save The demon beast trainer? Is that on Petra's behalf? Why is it snowing outside? My understanding is that its Mathers who casts that spell, but didn't Ram and Puck distract him from doing so? Will we find out next episode? I assume we'll have to deal with the Bunny Rabbit from Monty Python and the Holy Grail soon! Last observation being....? I think it was revealed that Mathers cast some kind of spell on Emilia, one to make her more depressed and despondant than she was supposed to be? Is that why she goes a little crazy in some of the bad timelines Subaru gets killed in? And this occurred when exactly, after Subaru and Emilia fought at some point? Nitrousoxide posted:I can't believe Ram is loving dead. Hey you're only allowed to make that joke once per season! I'm ON to you sir! Hogama posted:Yeah, that's one of the big things in setting. Being a half-elf is one reason she's been trapped in Sanctuary's barrier, and also one of the things even the common people in the world know about Satella is that she was a half-elf (and looks pretty much exactly like Emilia). That would be interesting because In mathers memories/flashbacks they don't show us Echidna's face either. e: vvvv hahahahaa I ninja'd you!!!!

Well, I don't know if CAN'T is the appropriate word for the series, given that the circumstances of Emilia's parents has yet to be cleared up. We only know that she was in Fortuna's care and that her brother was supposedly the father. It would seem UNLIKELY given the timeline, but even Fortuna wondered about how Emilia learned some of the outdated language she uses, and that was 100 years ago...

Also they did mention that one of the witches was a vampire and still was killed. A vain, unlikable, unusually young witch sure sounds familiar no?

My money is on Emilia being the literal reincarnation of Satella and as such picked up her ancient volcabulary (because magic? who knows. it seems the most plausible theory) As for who her parents actually were, I don't think Tappei will be revealing that before 2025.

Nitrousoxide posted:Maybe I'm remembering wrong? My reaction was more, "holy poo poo if true!" not "You're crazy!" to be clear. Although my thinking is Echidna might just be the only one who is still pissed about it because as the avatar of greed she's the one with the most regrets. Wrath is probably fine with it because who lives by the sword dies by the sword. Gluttony's creations were still running around, sloth doesn't care, etc. Plus the fact that Emilia is presumably not the same person as the Witch of Envy, so why get upset at someone who looks just like her? "What are we, humans!?" Etc. e: I think every Witch we've seen in Echidna's tea party space is presumably someone who has died and were absorbed by Satella, and I'm sure I remember it being stated explicitly that Satella killed and absorbed all the witches.

That was the densest loving episode, plot-wise. I've only watched the episode once so far, but I've gone through the third trial flash of one-liners. And I can pick out: 1. Gar threatening to kill Subaru. 2. Subaru calling out someone as a hero (probably Reinhardt). 3. An unknown old man voice talking about his granddaughter (probably related to Emilia). 4. Otto freaking out. 5. Priscilla? saying something about winning. 6. Rem calling a murderer a kind person. 7. Julius or Reinhardt? talking about giving up the sword. 8. Roswaal referencing himself not being alone. 9. Wilhelm calling someone out for not being able to wield a sword. AlternateNu fucked around with this message at 01:48 on Mar 11, 2021 |

Petra: "Subaru, I know you and Emilia-neesama are both tired. I'm sorry. And yet I ended up just weighing you down further... I'm sorry." 5. Rom: "My precious granddaughter has grown into such a fine young lady, no?" 6. Otto: "If that's the case, I should've just been wrapped up in that cave and left for dead!" 7. Al: "I'm sorry I couldn't kill you." 8. Crusch: "Under no circumstances shall I be killed by something as nonsensical as a curse!" 9. Priscilla: "There, you see? I win again." 10. Ram: "To think someone I wanted to kill so badly turned out to be a kind person. What a nightmare." 11. Julius: "If I bend my knee and lose my sword, what is left for me?" 12. Anastasia (crying): "What's so hard about sayin' 'I don't want to be alone'?" 13. Garfiel: "I'm gonna kill you just like I promised, Natsuki Subaru!" 14. Roswaal: "I made the realization that I have not walked alone all this time, that is all." 15. Frederica: "I suppose we must shed every last drop of blood in our bodies to atone." 16. Felt: "You can just stand there running in place! Magic, dragons, whatever stands in my way, I'll destroy it!" 17. Felix/Ferris: "Why won't the soul take hold?!" 18. Rem: "I believe praying to ask for a favor is arrogant. Prayer should be for seeking forgiveness."
