Do they ever show an x-ray of wolverine's claws extended, because one thing that always bothered the pedantic part of my brain is that unless the claws are strongly anchored somewhere in the hands, the leverage would push the other end of the claws right out of his hand. They'd have to extend partway into his forearm to get any decent amount of leverage on anything he's trying to cut

Its had some weird effects. I now actively prefer porn where theres some actual flirting and sexual tension before they gently caress.

I think I mostly agree with this thesis but the big counterexample is that TV has gotten way hornier. Haven't gotten around to the article yet though

rent a girlfriend did a really good job demonstrating how for a lot of guys horniness isnt just about a woman being hot or even her being an ideal archetype like its clear that over time the main character is attracted to the female lead and wants to spend time around her not because hes invested in the public kayfabe but because when she drops the mask she still treats him with respect and will even tell him to knock off the dumbassery if necessary

the scene where he attempts to masturbate to pictures of his toxic ex and fails because he keeps flashing to memories of the female lead being emotionally supportive instead is to date the only scene ive ever seen in pop culture that accurately describes just how weird your headspace gets when youre masturbating

so im watching the stand and im just curious is there some kind of twist or is the story exactly as black and white as it looks

i ask because niceguy.txt and cop killer are obviously coded as evil despite nice guy being the only character to show positive initiative in the wake of the apocalypse and cop killer being left to starve to death until darkman shows up

this isnt amazing characterization but theyre still more interesting to watch than whoopis chosen five four of whom just guilelessly believe everything she says while the fifth one is depicted as naively wrongheaded for suggesting its kind of dumb for them to do stuff just because the magical negress tells them to

It will never not amaze me that for this adaption they deciding to practically skip the first half of the book (the good half) and spend most all the series on the universally disliked even by the author second half.

yeah its wild lol. they literally start the show after the apocalypse for some reason and barely show us any of the good parts. how do you not have a montage sequence of the awol soldier spreading it everywhere?

also its hilarious how conservative the show comes off. on the side of god and good we have old fashioned heartland american folks with their levis and their pickup trucks, and on the side of evil and the devil we have sexual deviants and drug users having orgies. its honestly baffling

i haven't seen the show, but all of that stuff happened in the book so i can't really blame the tv show too much

the book is pretty enjoyable but it definitely displays all of stephen king's excesses and tropes. like the green mile, it has both a magical negro AND a magical mentally disabled person

Liberals presuppose that youth, especially LGBT youth, are all united by flamboyant fashion instead of united by joblessness, lack of education, and their parents dying needlessly from a global pandemic because they were forced to work.

Black LGBT youth are humorous .gif dispensers... That is when they are not gunned down by fascist thugs that are sanctioned by the state to murder. Anyway thank you HBO for your commitment to diversity!!

i read an interesting piece on this idea yesterday

i disagree with some of the assertions, i don't think media has become somehow less horny. the marvel movies are offered as an example of this supposed sexlessness but they're a) for children and b) still horny. but the idea that media now cuts out basically anyone who isn't impossibly beautiful is very relevant. it's a trip to go back and watch old media where most of the actors, especially in secondary roles, just look like normal folks

Theres a very striking difference between US and UK tv shows where the UK is far more willing to have less attractive people who can act their rear end off.

that was a very good article and I feel guilty for not reading it when it was originally posted

im trying to come up with a counterexample of a mainline film in the teens where the leads had good chemistry and all ive got is passengers which is interesting because chris pratt and jennifer lawrence dont have chemistry in any of their other film roles which suggests directorial influence rather than a dearth of acting talent is whats killing sexual chemistry at the movies

not coincidentally passengers had an actual ethical conflict underlining the relationship which required them to emote at a larger range than coy middle school crush but ironically enough that exact same ethical conflict led to the movie getting savaged because dumbasses somehow interpreted the movie as being about how chris pratt is a wonderful perfect dude whose actions were morally unimpeachable

The Green Mile is great, because it asks the important question "If a giant black man is found alone with two dead white girls, maybe he didn't murder them but was instead trying to use his magical healing powers to save them from dying, and maybe you shouldn't be so racist and assume otherwise?"

Much like magic Anthony Hopkins bullying the bully for being gay/a transvestite/trans in Hearts in Atlantis, Stephen King movies are a force designed to bring us together. Interestingly, neither the bully nor anyone else questions why this weird old man knows all these things about the bully does when he's alone. Must be magic, right? Definitely magic.
