That's the only but I know and I thought it was supposed to be creepy in mad men. Isn't that whole scene about them wanting a "young girl" etc?

Thanks to this thread I've had that Benny Mardones song stuck in my drat head for days now. Just enjoying a nice quiet moment and my brain interrupts with "Sheeee's just 16 years old!...". Why does that song have to be so catchy?

If we thought it was at least not okay michael Jackson did this why are people letting this slide Remember how everyone couldn’t stop praising how “brave” their music videos were?

Her movie about autism is so unbelievably offensive and stupid that it’s pretty clear anyone with half a brain in their head is kept completely outside of this woman’s orbit so the sweet sweet money keeps rolling in. Also yes she appears to be grooming the hell out of this child that she just came out of the closet for?

The Alabama Song by The Doors comes to mind, where the singer is clearly lusting after a "little girl." Like, back the gently caress up, Jimbo. What exactly do you mean by "little?"

Lmao I sure hope some of you never talk to your parents about what sex and dating were like back then. It cannot be stressed enough how hypernormalized loving teens seemed to be in music and movies back then. I really have no idea about TV’s depictions of sex in the 70’s and 80’s, but a 40 year old man talking about a hit teen girl was a guaranteed bop back then. I’m saying all this as the child of what would be considered a problematic age gap today, lol. My mom was also my dad’s 3rd marriage, lmao.

I always feel like it's weird we just kind of accepted the heavy sexualization of teenagers in horror movies. Like "Yeah some teenagers get naked have a bunch of sex and then die" is all kinds of hosed up even if the actors portraying them were overage (and they *weren't always*) Like it was just considered utterly normal to see characters being presented as teenagers showing their boobs and then being gutted.

Once again the thread must be reminded that there is not a single rock star active between 1950 and, say, 1990 who did not commit statutory rape of a groupie at least once, if not several times, in their career

Richie Valens? Wasn't there a horror movie on streaming (I want to say its "It Follows," but I can't remember) that essentially was if you have sex/lose your virginity you get killed by a monster. Sort of putting the horror trope of sex being bad front and center instead of putting under a layer or two.

Well that’s the brilliance of Robert England and how fun the movies got. Personally for me? I dig it because I think that character is a blast to watch but I get it. 3 was a fantastic middle spot where it was still fun but also Freddy was very much the villain. 4 pushes it but dang that movie is a massive messy blast of insanity.

You arent expected to cheer for him, youre looking forward to the creativity of the kills, which is a slight distinction. 4 was when the series switched over to Freddy kill fun, and its also when the movies strictly switched over to him ignoring his history at all (he had killed every kid of the people that burned him at that point and was now all about eating souls).

I’m honestly more upset by arthouse child nudity than I am about horror movie sexual psychosis. Like, for example, the topless child in American Beauty whose parents signed off on her pornographic scene... that’s, uh, extremely insanely weird! You can use stunt boobs or something! Obviously AB is, in the context of 2021, a frankly completely bizarre film that could be pulled apart with a fine tooth comb, but that girl was only 15-16 at the time of shooting and her folks signed off on it because they thought it would help her career. That’s what freaks me out about it, that there was a set full of people, actors and producers and directors and set designers and lighting make-up and the producer comes in one day and goes “ok everyone, places, were getting ready to sexualize a child! It’s ok! Her mom said it’s fine! PLACES, People! ACTION!”

Correct me if I'm wrong but the whole slasher thing killing teens bonking in beds started with Halloween, and it wasn't anything to do with any sort of artsy fartsy commentary, John Carpenter just needed this teen couple to be distracted while Myers sneaks up on them, and thought "hmm, what could this couple be doing where they wouldn't notice a murderer behind them... EUREKA"

Some of his techniques were both mentally and physically abusive. He didn't end up marrying either one, and there were definitely some folks creeped out by the situation. But nobody really stepped in to protect those girls.
