put in a permit to do a section of the sierra high route this june so thats all im going to be able to think about until the passes open up and i can get out on a few trips. all i want to do is go loving fishing and backpacking!!! kill computer!!!!

i did some local exploring recently, and there are these ice caves you can get to when it's cold out and a small lake nearby freezes over. there were people skating on the lake too  you can see a few stray socks and such from where people fell in through the thin ice there in the shallow areas neat that there are some caves nearby like that

 came upon these wild horses in the middle of big bend near the Mexico border. according to my friend, wildlife is allowed to cross the border and no one is allowed to ranch on the US side so these are probably tourist horses

I went kayaking on a frigid lake today. It was great, a goose started us down as we paddled by a floating platform it was nesting on. Stupid honky bastard.

i have once again left my tech job behind to wander the earth. last year i quit to hike the pacific crest trail, but unfortunately covid hit and we had to cancel. so i got a new tech job, which i have just quit to in order to hike the pacific northwest trail this time.

a friend of mine is hiking the pct this season too. sounds like a good time of suffering and self discovery and whatnot. I'm backpacking Enchanted Valley [olympic rainforest] tomorrow and the forecast shows two straight days of cold rain :| yay for type 2 fun
