This is using magic to create a PHYSICS based attack by using spirits to create water magnifying glasses to solar beam people. Which they have no way of knowing or defending against.

In the manga it looked like droplets that made water spikes to impale, the laser reflections looked way cooler.

The most surprising thing that happened this episode was that Gabiru looked cool. I do wish they'd gone with different music for the end though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTnzwvx4AO0 Gyges fucked around with this message at 21:53 on Mar 16, 2021 |

It's pretty weird but also kinda appropriate that the goblins/grandpa/g-orc team got the best looking sequences in this episode

Hey I got to see the massacre begin with proper anime vocals and cool VFX, I drat sure can't complain. Kind of a lot to cover in the one episode remaining from this half of the cour, but if we stay focused on Rimuru I think we should be able to fit most of it in and go into the break at a sensible point.

I do wonder how dark they go next cour. After the harvest festival the interrogation of the King can be anywhere from near comedic "that Shion sure can't cook" levels all the way to "Cronenberg is feeling kind of squeemish at this". I know the LN really toned it down, but I do kind of want to see Diablo deliver a King meatloaf to Falmus.

LN didn't show it per se, but it did make it clear that she used her skill to skin him repeatedly, and the manga showed some FMA looking abomination in a cell when they go to interrogate him so who knows how they'll go.

As someone who had no idea what Megiddo was going to be (aside from apocalyptic, obviously) when the lil slimes came out I suddenly though "Oh god, he's going to eat them all."

Speaking as someone who's only watching the anime, I've not noticed any serious pacing issues since the first few episodes were jumping all over the place weirdly. Yet, anyway. Visually, I found Meggido to be pretty underwhelming. I kinda get what they were going for, but comparatively it was just kinda lacking. I'unno. That said, Great Sage just casually counting the death toll the entire time was super dark and definitely made up for it.

I think going for about 80% of the manga's level on that is the way to go. Set a tone that Rimuru and co. aren't loving around and are pissed, but don't make it so extreme that it'll make parents not want their kids watching. Maybe make good use of some censoring shadows so that you definitely get the idea without making it too graphic.

To be fair, that actually was the result of everyone loving around. It's just that Rimuru and the gang forgot that letting Shion gently caress around without supervision has consequences. The king and the bishop guy can at least be grateful they didn't get questioned by the other Secretary, I guess.

The episode was really good...but it lacked the aplomb of slaughter that's described and shown in the Manga and LN where Rimuru spends some time maiming soldiers to sow fear and chaos simply because he can as well as the intimidation scene with the king.

The only real thing I wish they'd done different is having people like the commander guy insta-killed so hard they died standing. Still, very good and Raizen passing out from terror was done perfectly. Next week should be good though. Either we focus on naming the world's greatest butler, or we witness the awakening of this slime world's greatest disciple of manga.

Yeah I agree about the commander. poo poo was funny as hell, but the way the Manga did it was legit creepy and scary as gently caress. I had also hoped they'd include the bonus chapter about that one soldier.

Hard to wrong when you get the creep factor in the manga and the fun moment in the anime for Folgen's death. Nice to see people taking different approaches with the same material. That demon is the absolute tits (if you couldn't tell already), and I've always wanted to see him more in the manga. I'll always want more scenes of this ridiculous demon being unstoppable while fawning over his master/telling people how his master's even stronger. That's something I never get tired of seeing in my various Isekai power fantasies. Overlord definitely had that kind of vibe to it too, and I liked it there as well.

Everyone in Tempest loves slime boy, the problem is that Shion and the demon have similar issues with how they express their love. The only thing worse than being at the mercy of Shion/the demon is managing to somehow be a huge enough dick to make Shuna angry.

I'm much happier with the slightly more sterile "enemies=dead" treatment without attempts to humanize them.

On the one hand, Nero/Diablo looks a lot like a Kuroshitsuji character now, which is a shame. His first design was way better. On the other hand, I am really looking forward to Veldora now being a permanent member of the main cast.

Finally read the latest manga chapter and I could totally see that as how they animate the results of the interrogation. Those were some real creepy boxes. Also a great Shion chapter as she was left to her own devises twice.

Gyges posted:Does diaries ever develop into more of a narrative, or is it all a string of gags? The manga has a narrative. It's all 4koma, but each chapter is part of the same theme, but different POV's if that makes sense. The Christmas Chapter for instance was them prepping as well as the event itself with each 4koma being a different prep moment, reaction, etc., if that makes sense. I'd say check it out and see for yourself on websites.
