Is Gloria Allred's reputation good? I've always thought of her as a sleazy ambulance chaser, but I may have her confused with someone else.

PT6A posted:I won't say anyone can be an actor, but at the same time it's not the sort of thing you need 12 years experience and a master's degree to do. And before anyone says, "well the true mark of an actor is versatility, and the ability to perform multiple different roles," that's not entirely wrong, but look at how many famous actors only ever play one character with minor variations. And that very much seems to favour white men. Robert De Niro is probably the best living embodiment of this still in the game. He has literally played himself in everything he’s ever done, with his own speaking voice and his own mannerisms, for pretty much almost his entire career, and he’s one of the most celebrated actors of his generation.

I think Hammer was pivoting his career to medium-budget-level indie stalwart, after Call Me By Your Name. He had a part in Sorry to Bother You and all this news has probably tanked the next Taika Waititi movie, since he's the lead in that and it's already filmed.

He also has a lead role in Kenneth Branagh's Death on the Nile where he plays Gal Gadot's husband. It was supposed to have been released in October.

Looks like Michael Fassbender is the lead, although Hammer’s in it too. I don’t know how big his role is though. But yeah, it looked like he’d given up on the big leading man action movie star and was focusing more on indie stuff.

Oh goodie, Fassbender: "A second instance of abuse reportedly occurred at a July 2009 film festival. Fassbender had been partying late and came back to his hotel room with a friend and the two tried to get into bed with Andrews. She says she ended up checking into another room so she could avoid the two men. The next morning Andrews found Fassbender “sleeping in urine” and when she tried to wake him up, he allegedly threw her over a chair and broke her nose."

That is her rep, but Armie is definitely guilty given everything that has come out. He just seems like a jackass who couldn't respect boundaries, and you don't need this incident to realize that. The belt was a sign of that. Choking someone so hard you leave marks after they agree to let you put a belt around their necks is a dick move.

Verhoeven lying about putting Sharon Stone's genitals on film is something that got treated like a joke for so long, and yet it's a massive, disgusting breach of trust. Basic Instinct should never have been sold with that shot still in it and it's hosed that it still is.

It is absolutely drat gross but at least the above article says that she made the decision herself to include it and from how it sounds she absolutely could have had it cut. That doesn't make it being done without her permission any less disgusting or foul or the fact that she had to make that decision any less terrible but demanding it be pulled after she made the decision herself kind of devalues her own opinion there. Now if she came out and said "I felt pressured into doing that and like I had no choice" then yeah, pull that poo poo ASAP.

While it’s not even remotely surprising that the most iconic vagina in American cinematic history was shot/filmed under hosed up and creepy circumstances, my heart breaks for Ms. Stone. I genuinely got emotional reading her walk herself through the process of accepting it and talking herself into allowing it “for art”. Forcing yourself to become okay with such an insane violation for the good of the project is some next level Team Player poo poo and I really hope as time went on she got to have a safer and less sexist career.
