The news about Sophie legit hurts. I always imagined her leading us into the future. I remember seeing her at a warehouse show in 2016 and squinting trying to get a better look at the stage because no one really knew who she was irl yet. Like I can barely believe I got to witness someone who had conceived a singular artistic vision as strong as hers just perfectly execute it in real time. Seeing that done in any medium was an incredibly important lesson for me.

I actually did not put together that she was partially responsible for Hey QT (which made perfect sense) or that she worked on a song for Camila Cabello (which does not make sense, because Camila is really boring and safe) also that Let's Eat Grandma album is incredibly good you should listen to it if you like SOPHIE at all, she produced a couple tracks on it and it all sounds fantastic

That video is really adorable. Song’s good, song’s always been good. Edit: I’m still wondering if all of the tracks are gonna hew this close to the original. Obviously the singles have to remain the same since the whole point is for people who want to license them out to use Taylor’s Version instead of the original so we’re not getting like, an acoustic Shake It Off or a full on pop-punk guitar You Belong With Me but I kinda hope she gets to have a little fun with some of those album tracks. Obviously TS is one of those artists where every song is probably somebody’s favorite so you run the risk of annoying fans, but it would be cool to play with some of those production tricks she’s learned since Red on these older albums. Edit2: someone pointed out that there’s a picture in the lyric video where there’s a man blurred out in the background and that man is Scott Borchetta, aka the whole reason Taylor is doing this in the first place (yeah Scooter’s gotten most of the attention since he’s more vocal and also a grown man named Scooter but Borchetta is the guy who made the call to sell). It’s nice to know that vindictive Taylor is still in there, now using her powers for good. Also I learned recently that Scooter Braun was CRJ’s manager during Emotion which means that this thread has been complaining about that guy for going on 6 years now. Truly we are ahead of the curve. Where the hell is OneRepublic's new album? It was supposed to come out last year! (Ryan is frankly too good at writing pop hits and I appreciate OneRepublic low key always having at least three bangers per album that are too good).
