CHOCOPRO #98: #MVCHIEMI SAKURA VS BEST BROS
Today live on Youtube
Time: 10am (JST)/5pm (PST)/8pm (EST)/1am (GMT)

Dogglesnake Matchcard

quote:

Summer vs Winter! Cold Killer against Tropical Idol!

Yunamon vs Hagane Shinno

Papaya, Mango, Coconuts! Yunamon has grown a lot since these two last fought all the way back on Episode 69. Back then, Beauty As Is was a fresh new team and she had just earned her Driver's License! So much has transpired, with Yunamon growing in strength and Tropical Passion. So many lariats! So many pounces! Did you know she is even challenging for a certain belt in Actwres Girlz: Colors? Between that and technically appearing indirectly at both AEW & Stardom (during Emi's entrances!) our powerful idol is making waves in the wrestling world! Perhaps this time, the cruel and unstoppable force that is her opponent might just prove to be...stoppable?

Having appeared more frequently for ChocoPro since their last encounter, Hagane Shinno feels less like a guest and more like a part of the usual crew! The Cold Killer has had many intense battles since his battle against the Pineapple Girl, including a title shot for the Asia Dream Tag Championship. While the name of his team with Chie (Egg Tart) is up in the air, one thing that is certain: Hagane is still an frighteningly skilled wrestler! His icy demeanor and monstrously heavy attacks will have you and his foes wincing in pain! Can Yunamon defeat this monumental threat? Or will the endless winter continue?

A Masked Hero stands up to the Pencil Army?!

Lulupencil VS Sawasdee Kamen

Hehehehe...the creepy laugh of the Pencil Army General is hard to get out of your head! How can someone who is so weak command so much respect? Her soft strikes are propelled by a strong heart! Her unbreakable will and honest determination has brought many titans under her thrall...(Emi Sakura, Minoru Fujita, and even Chris Brookes!) With Lulupencil now having her own Unit, her growing presence in Ichigaya has attracted an old favorite! Gatoh Move's Sawasdee Kamen! The Yellow Spirit is a masked marvel: a talented technician who previously tagged with Mitsuru Konno! This unique wrestler will be returning to ChocoPro to dish out some justice to the proud General! Can Lulu hope to keep up with a veteran? Expect a wild and unpredictable match up!

The Best Bros next challenge: Emi-Chie!

Best Bros (Mei Suruga & Baliyan Akki) VS Emi Sakura & Chie Koishikawa

The Best Bros have been having some miscommunications as of late! With Mei having been overwhelmed by her hatred of the Pencil Army, Akki was forced to try and calm her down...and even suffered some of her wrath! The Big Apple might have devastating submissions and awe inspiring tricky pins, but she needs Akki the Ace's breezy all around abilities and unreal agility in order to succeed...right? These two are clearly the top of the ChocoPro roster as of right now, but how long can they continue their reign? Hopefully these minor issues don't lead to a bigger problem between the two!How can the Apple fly without the Wind?

They had better get on the same page, since Emi Sakura & Chie Koishikawa are a chaotic combination! The Oni and the Frantic Fencer are sort of opposites right now. Emi is very low on energy (and HP, according to Mei) while Chie has enough energy to power a city! (That is why she is “Too Much Energy”!) Will Emi be able to utilize her clever schemes and brutal chops in order to pull off a win? Or will Chie's flashy strikes (and scary Haunting Hero mode) steal the day? Can either of these teams coordinate enough for this bout!? (Will we finally see a Dolphin Press?)

Yoneyama vs Yunamon for the PURE-J title official for ChocoPro 100

Veib
Dec 10, 2007

I’m a super casual wrestling fan but I watched the AEW women’s tournament since it was free on Youtube and thought it was very good and wanted to see more of these women, so that lead me to ChocoPro and

well

how am I supposed to enjoy watching any kind of wrestling that doesn’t have a pair of windows leading to a small alley outside after this? Why does everyone insist on using rings when a small dentist’s office is so obviously the superior choice? Turns out Emi Sakura is a loving genius

I haven’t watched a weekly show of any kind in over 15 years and only got back to watching things a couple times a year 5 years ago, but ChocoPro might be the best wrestling I’ve ever seen. It’s dumb as hell in all the best possible ways and genuinely hilarious, I love everything about it, absolutely everyone there is just the best. I’m like two weeks in and already incredibly invested in the buildup to episode 100, the only problem is that I can't watch the shows live since they start at 3 AM for me

Emi Sakura's vision that an empty "arena" show doesn't mean a "no fans" show and then quickly proving her theory true is my favorite wrestling moment of 2020.

Speaking of ChocoPro #100 - considering that even I'm thinking about dropping $100 for a Choco Bouquet, that goddamn window is going to be covered (or it should, give Emi your money). Also, don't sleep on the anniversary merch:

The merch is really tempting though I had trouble trying to buy the hoodie and faced problems doing so, though I waited until the last moments to try to buy it.

CHOCOPRO #99/LULU PENCIL #92: DOUBLE MAIN ON THE ROAD TO CHOCO 100
Today live on Youtube
Time: 10am (JST)/5pm (PST)/8pm (EST)/1am (GMT)

Dogglesnake Matchcard

quote:

Prelude to Title Shot! A Pure-J Champ arrives!?

Lulupencil & Kaori Yoneyama VS Chie Koishikawa & Yunamon

Kaori Yoneyama is the Pure-J Openweight Champion! This twist has shaken the next few ChocoPro cards, since she will need to defend the title...and who is the first challenger? Why, the Pineapple Girl, Yunamon! This battle will mark the first time a singles title has been defended on ChocoPro (officially, that is...) but that is later! Now we have the aftermath of the shake up: Egg Tart will no longer battle RESET due to that shifting, so Chie needed an opportunity to fight her chosen target (Yoneyama) and the match was decided to be added to Episode 99! What will happen if Chie manages to pin Yoneyama..?

Pairing with Yoneyama will be Lulupencil, the charismatic General of the Pencil Army. That Unit is part of the story later, too! Despite her big heart, Lulu might not be so tough on her own...(you'll find yourself cheering for her anyhow) but paired with the clown-like antics of Kaori, she might just have a chance at a tag team win! On the other hand, the Power & Speed combination of Tropical Idol Yunamon and Frantic Fencer Chie is an incredible sight. If they can find a way to work together, they could bring down one of the legends known for her tag team skills...but they are both after the same target! Who will be the one to finish the match? What will Lulu do in all of this gokigen chaos?

The Final Battle on the Road to 100!

Best Bros (Baliyan Akki & Mei Suruga) VS Emi Sakura & Minoru Fujita

Baliyan Akki, the Ace of ChocoPro, has been a pleasure to watch for this long, strange year. From his magnificent hair to his natural showmanship, everything about the man says “future star”. Whether you see him spring off the wall in some flashy technique or just add a new twist to an old favorite, you know after one viewing: he's got enormous potential. ChocoPro began with this aerial technician falling to Minoru Suzuki, Masato Tanaka, and many other Legends. Any time a guest arrives, they impart their knowledge and brand on Akki in their own way. He learns, he grows, he improves. How much has he grown? Carrying the mantle of the Ace has not been an easy task, even as he gets better and better. Akki has been dealing with unfeeling mountains, tall villains, and unfortunate injuries. The Winds of Change are pushing him forward! The uniquely antagonistic energy between the Best Bros aside (rivals turned partners!). Akki never takes his eyes off the goal. He will be focused on his upcoming singles foe, Minoru Fujita, in this tag match...

Mei Suruga is destined for the biggest stages this world can offer. The Genius of ChocoPro, Red Devil, Apple Girl, Big Apple, Cute on Purpose...Mei has many titles. One of them is the Asia Dream Tag Championship, which she cherishes quite dearly (even posting a picture a day with the belt!). Her pride has always been one of her key traits, seeking to prove to the audience what she has always known: just how amazing she really is. Her mastery of flashy pins is a nearly lost art, and her ability to improve just about any submission is marvelous. While her dreams of appearing further for AEW might be on hold for now, she has spread her wings and flown to several other promotions, gaining further notoriety and more adoring “apple dummies”, her loyal fans. Meanwhile, in back in ChocoPro, a faction has formed. The Pencil Army, a carefree bunch of very cool (but low on wins) wrestlers, are anathema to her ways. What is so appealing about a team that loses all the time? Why are people interested in playing these odd alternate characters? (She would never! Unrelated side note, its been a while since we have seen Lettuce-chan, I hope she is doing fine!)

The Best Bros declared that if these two show up as their Pencil Army incarnations, the match wouldn't even be worthwhile. That doesn't mean this won't be the case, but I'll cover the bases regardless. Emi Sakura is the Oni, a cruel yet effective teacher and the creative Mastermind behind ChocoPro (and many other promotions!). Criminally underrated, Emi's impact on the wrestling scene overall (not just Joshi) will be felt for years to come. The Best Bros have come to regard her as a non-threat, stating that she “loses all the time”, so why should they be scared? Emi (in both her regular and slightly slower Emi Pencil forms) brings with her a bounty of shockingly slick wrestling manuevers and jaw dropping tactics that many have fallen to. Her chops are like a car door slamming shut! Simply because she is not the center of attention does not mean she isn't a threat. It is much easier to move the puppet strings when you are out of sight & mind, after all! Emi's singles record is still quite strong, and she is a part of many of the best tag teams the promotion has to offer. Don't forget that the tag champs before Best Bros were RESET (Emi & Kaori Yoneyama)! It might be time for the teacher to give one more harsh lesson...

She will be partnering alongside Minoru Fujita, another living legend (and teacher as well!) who can absolutely still push the limits. One of the inspirations of the Motor City Machine Guns, Fujita is a near mythical figure in several categories. “Our Bloody Champion” won the BJW Deathmatch Heavyweight Championship and immediately brought it to Ichigaya. While many did not see him joining the Pencil Army coming (at the time, much to the dismay of Emi Sakura...but they fought out their differences!) Fujita's belt collecting days are far from over. Though he lost that one, he's still able to return to the place he was once exiled from (several times, actually) draped in gold. Every time he appears, he is also able to win over new fans in short order! With the voice of an angel and the endurance of a machine, Fujita also brings with him tag team (and solo) experience beyond comprehension! These two tag specialists when paired together could have enough chemistry to point out the cracks forming in the Best Bros cohesion.

Will the Best Bros be able to focus on this match, or will their differing goals lead to a stunning defeat? Will the Pencil Army prove that pro wrestling can elevate B characters to Heroes? Lets find out together, on the next ChocoPro!
