i'm currently listening to it and i'm enjoying it ...but erra is one of those bands that for whatever reason, despite me enjoying it while i'm listening to it, as soon as the record is over i can't think of a single riff that i just heard. it's the musical equivalent of reading the same page over and over and nothing sticking

It's the riff salad. If you just start throwing riffs without letting them do their thang/ride them out, it becomes a big blur. I ain't saying everything has to be 2 riffs repeated over and over, but just... give it some space. Like even the wank masters (if they know what the gently caress they're doing) stick to having a riff try and get stuck in the listeners brains.

Erra is very good at writing Erra songs and this album is probably the strongest thing they've put out, but it just absolutely doesn't stick with me

If you like Zao, you'll like it. It's a bit of a different album (very moody, doomy, kind of sludgier than normal?), but still Zao. Lots of really killer riffs in it too.

I might be alone in caring, but Currents released the instrumentals for The Way It Ends and I'm pretty stoked about it. It was probably my favorite album of 2020. I like that they release the instrumental versions of their stuff for when I wanna listen to heavy jams, but need to focus on work or something
