There's a lot of space trash out there, with more everyday as existing pieces of debris hit each other and splinter off. Also whenever something functional in orbit (like a comms satellite) gets hit by debris, it becomes more debris. Like most collective action problems, no one's doing poo poo to fix it. Are humans eventually going to be locked out of space due to creating an impenetrable field of flak in orbit? My vote is yes.

I heard astronauts poop and pee out the side of the spaceship and now there is a ring of frozen poop and pee in orbit and now there's so much poop and pee outside the spaceship that they can't see where they're going and that's why we're not allowed to go to the moon anymore.

in the worst case scenario it would only affect a few orbits and will generally never prevent exploring beyond that
