The suggested fix was to save and then reload your game, but I still had to resort to a single marine for my Syn.

3 Paranid L miners can't keep up with my 8 modules hull part factory, is this to be expected or are they getting stuck in ressource probe shenanigans ?
The factory is in the Second Contact sector right between Argon Prime and HOP space so it's not like there are no asteroid around.

You can go do a shipyard/warf for upgrades and select empty slots to sell them and keep the ship.

Could be wrong but selling the ship includes cargo but I think they changed that? Ego didn't like people being able to sell nvidium easily or something? Pretty sure selling the whole ship gives you the money for equipment too.

[edit] nevermind, see that you're talking about a specific special ship, so no idea - if you can upgrade at all though you ought to get refunds for the trade-in

There are still some minor bugs here and there but I've personally encountered nothing that a restart didn't fix, and quite infrequently at that. The 4.0 patch that came along with the expansion pack really did a lot. X games always need a few major patches to get going and while X4's 3.0 was pretty good, it still had some issues. Now I don't really have any complaints

Turns out my miners prefer to mine in Antigone Memorial.

The way miners are just nuts in their target selection definitely needs a fix.

I recommend blacklisting your miners to the sector the station is in (or somewhere nearby that has the resources) because yeah they are apparently in love with taking the scenic route.

They are audible and there is also a small equalizer that shows up when you are near one, and gets bigger the closer you are, as well as shifting left and right to indicate directionality.

Fun fact, your blacklists can get overridden. My Computronic Substrate factory in Gaian Prophecy was blacklisted to only mine in that sector (Sector Activities restriction on all sectors with exception on Gaian Prophecy). It filled up on silicon just fine but they refused to mine any ore there, once the silicon was completely filled up the miners hung around for a while trying to find ore and suddenly they left the sector to mine in Antigone Memorial. Checking the blacklist again the Gaian Prophecy exception was just gone. At first I thought I just messed it up but this happened a few times after re-enabling it.

Make sure to have the signal leak indicator setting on under accessibility options in order to see that equalizer.

Yeah, but is there a way to know to look for those in the first place? Stations are pretty big and I don't see a way to distinguish "here's a thing that might give you a module" from "here's a random mission".

EDIT: Is there a command to sell everything a ship has to a station :staredog: like if i had a suitable ship on hand could I just tell it to collect drops then sell to the station on repeat

The mission ones have a sort of sparkler effect on the end of an antenna, and you can hear a voice in them, the data leaks have a glowing circle, are attached to a broken bit of metal, and are just electronic noise.

Does station sabotage go towards affecting the market? Can I go around sabotaging all the little hullparts and claytronics factory on my side of the universe to artificially increase the profitsss?

Yep! All the wares are only created by factories, so if you prevent the factories from making them, then they won't exist to purchase unless you create them. And factories don't just grow out of nothing like they did in X3, if you blow them up and the AI wants to create a new one, the building components need to be provided to build it.

This is most clear if you wipe out the Xenon, they will create blueprints all around that are never fulfilled because no Xenon exist to fulfill them and you will not see Xenon again.

The only exception to this is SCA pirates, who do get created out of nothing (unless the exact code means they just repurpose an existing ship and flip faction, but I think they are just spawned so there is always some sort of danger)

Any tips on getting my fleet to actually protect my miners? I have them on patrol but they just fly around while miners get destroyed a few dozen km away by KHK.

i didnt have much luck with patrol, but i grabbed the reaction force mod and its worked perfectly. park them in a sector, give them a radius of sectors to defend, if a ship gets attacked they'll fly to it and rescue it and then return.

I hate cockpits obscuring my vision. I swear I've got rid of them before now but maybe I'm thinking of Rebirth. (I know about hiding the HUD, but I mind that less anyway.)

Which ships would people recommend for cockpit-haters?

It's also quite clear with ZYA because their resource sectors are all in the northwest, while their production centers are in the north, so they regularly get cut off from all their ore inputs and their economy stalls and they die. I'm sure it used to be that if you set them to defend the station then the manager would organize escorts for traders using the defence force, but they don't seem to do that any more.

This looks so perfect. Unfortunately the plan is to keep this run vanilla to try out the online features, if they ever get re-enabled that is.

Getting nowhere fast
So I'm about to finish the Paranid plot and I'm at the point where I decide if I'm going to blow up the peace talks or not. I set up the bombs and try to fly out, but then game assumes I'm saving the Paranid. So I try blowing up the bombs before I get out and it kills me. How do I successfully destroy the monument?

:EDIT: nvm. Figured it out. Hope I made the right choice.

I can't find a list of plots you can follow anywhere online, if y'all could help me fill it out. So far I can found:

PHQ plot
Hatikvas plot
Paranid plot (need to finish HAT plot to start)
Split plot (need to finish HAT plot to start)

Assuming all the races have a plot associated with it and follow up from Dal Busta?

i cleaned my audio drivers, tried newest realteks, tried windows defaults, reset my audio quality, updated my videocard drivers

the first couple times i ran the game it just didnt have audio at all, after a system restart it just sounds like this. i'm baffled.

Got some absolutely weird bug with the Terran plot (project genesis start.)

I did the whole signing up to help with the Terran militia when I got my rep to 10 and the initial steps but now I'm supposed to visit Mars and have no access.

I never got any offer for a promotion and my reputation is already 16. I can't buy anything from the faction rep in regards to licenses or access. Am I missing something or should I try editing them in?

figured it out thanks to a redditer, pointed me to this thread on the official forums

I used Grok's sound overhaul for Stalker:Anomaly which changes some settings to openAL, which x4 uses.

Apparently makes it all scratchy and poo poo, I tried resetting the settings to default but it was still bad. dropped the bin file from the overhaul in x4's directory, identical to how it's installed for stalker, and it worked again. what a weird, obscure thing that I'm very glad other people figured out.
