Aliens Covenant was just a bad dream. David brings Elizabeth more hot cocoa and then the movie spends the first half exploring the engineer's homeworld until Dr Shaw and David are taken to the engineer's version of immigration and customs. To escape custody of the engineers they manage to somehow unleash a xenomorph and in the chaos free themselves and leave the engineer homeworld as it falls to infestation and conflict, but are chased by a cadre of engineers from system to system. Just when Dr Shaw and David are cornered by engineers and about to swallow their guns they are rescued by a predator. Credits roll.

Would have been way better than a fifteen second clip of the engineers getting entirely wiped out as David loses his mind.

She says "nah" and deletes the email. Then she looks directly at the camera with a smirk, as we end on a freeze. Cut to David, alone in a theatre, watching all this on a silver screen. He stands up and applauds. Fade to black, credits roll.

The new Alien comic by Marvel just dropped and it might be changing things up, in a huge way at that if one page is telling.

A potential new Queen Alien is shown. I don't mean the type we've know, this is humanoid. Think Sil from Species but in black with the horns from Lilith in the Diablo 4 trailer.

Other tidbits

It's 21 years after Aliens making the year 2200 which is stated to be the case on a page that has some information, it appears only the two movies are cannon, there have been other xenomoph encounters since then but we only get some tidbits about that only poo poo went bad as usual. There are many Bishop models around doing various jobs, like being a shrink. Remember how Aliens Resurrection had that messed up lab with the failed Ripley clones? Yeah we got an alien one going here along with some actual face huggers. Oh Weyland Yutani you rascally scamp.

We see it fully. This was actually humanoid in shape and size, alebit with alien features like two protrusions sticking out form her lower back. Horns again like Lilith from Diablo 4, her whole body is the same black/plate/as the aliens have. She also has yellow cat like eyes. It's very much a hybrid of an Alien and human, question is if it always existed or is a creation of Weyland Yutani. Or maybe it's just a bad dream but can't see them showing it only not to do anything with it. If you seen Sil from Species you got a decent mental image of it, just make it more xenomorph.

On one page there is some information listed for the reader directly, there are the two movie encounters/references to humanity fighting the aliens. The first is the original movie, about the Nostromo being diverted and it's crews tragic fate. The second mentions Hadleys Hope which of course is the setting of the second movie and that the community there was overun. No further movies are mentioned or referenced, instead it jumps to the current year in which the series is taking place 2200 so it's easy to guess that all further movies are considered non cannon which is hardly a bad thing. Think the Halloween timeline splits and that's what we have here. There have been other alien encounters but we have yet to know what they are.

Interesting that it doesn’t reference Alien Isolation. Also, Resurrection takes place in 2381 so that movie simply hasn’t happened yet.

It's possible However I'm willing to bet they won't. Much like Star Wars changing things up the comic only mentioning the first two movies seems to me to be a indication this is a whole new continuity. The page to address the reader could have mentioned the other movies, it didn't and I feel that is quite telling. The fact we might have some new human/alien creature helps to point in that direction. From what I could discern the person having the dream of the alien woman and the hive has an alien in him and he's connecting to the wider hive mind. Basically think Jean Luc Picard being assimilated by the Borg and him having met the Borg Queen, this feels akin to that with his visions.

I just read issue #1 of Marvel's Alien. This comic loving sucks. The plot is fine, but the art is so loving atrocious. Every thing is loving ugly, from the people, to the tech, the backgrounds, to the aliens... At least when the aliens are drawn. There's a big two page splash (which features the previously discussed giger art lady and nearly all the Aliens are traced from other art, stills, and literal action figures. I even held up my own NECA Big Chap just to make sure I wasn't going crazy.

There's also this loving awful scene of SPOILERS a dream sequence in which a body armor clad person (identified as female) is cocooned upside down, arms behind her back like it's BDSM fetish art. She's facehugged, but there's also a pair of facehuggers grabbing onto her crotch and her rear end. Dream sequence be damned it's the dumbest thing they could have put in the first issue of a major Sci-Fi's franchise arrival to Marvel.

Cool head explosion though. And there's a good cat. It survives (I think).

I actually liked the art, though hearing that things were traced etc isn't a surprise, seems to be a fairly common practice sadly in comics. *coughGreglandcough*

And yes that head explosions was really something.

I keep coming back to this picture and I always keep noticing more things. In the back on the far left is the only ridge headed, Aliens-style warrior. I'm guessing it's traced from a NECA figure as well, given the weird thinness on it's elbow and wrist that look like articulation points.

Also look along the bottom directly in the middle; there's an alien drone in a completely different art style that's being obscured by the photoshopped/traced aliens. What the gently caress is going on with this?
