Definitely not sold on this group yet. I have preexisting unreasonable hatred for Lee Mack and Sarah Kendall's doing nothing for me. The empty studio awkwardness seems to be even worse than it was last series. I'm suddenly reminded of the crush I had on Charlotte Ritchie back when Fresh Meat was on though. She's adorbs.

I think the lack of audience hurts the banter and prize tasks at the start, but I didn't miss it too much in the rest of the show.

Charlotte Ritchie is cute as hell but Jamali Maddix came out strong with the banter. Mike Wozniak is great too. The lack of audience seems to be a real shift in the tone, there's so much dead time. It got better last time so hopefully it will again.

Jamali got screwed on that one handed thing. Lee Mack picked bread up of the floor and scored higher. Even Alex was genuinely confused by that scoring.

He is a cruel tyrant. Well, I'm in. It's already better than last season. Last season felt like everyone was going through depression. Jamali giving Greg the business and Lee Mack's strained one hand nothingness had me in tears. Also, if you haven't yet, watch that NZ version because that was maybe the best cast/group I've seen on any season.

This lot have good chemistry so far, and the way the studio task went proves it. They had fun with the idea of sabotage. Imagine someone kicking it off like that in the S10 crew; I don't think Richard would have left the studio alive.

Greg predictably not being able to spin the cushion followed by Jamali effortlessly spinning it from one hand to the other was good telly. I don't think the under table camera did justice to the spinning tbh. I'm enjoying his combative attitude towards Greg a lot. Also Lee Mack dropped those plates! You can't say they're properly on the table if they slide off an instant later what bullshit!

Jamali absolutely should bring up this injustice in every episode, even if it costs him even more points.

To be fair, on the podcast Greg has admitted he tends to score the younger people lower because it isn't fair that they're younger. So I always expect the younger players to get screwed. I think he's just genuinely impressed when someone his own age can do something.

Taear posted:I really like the Circle as a concept altogether. As a person (like probably everyone on this forum) who has lived almost their whole life communicating with people via text as well as a sociologist it's very interesting to see how teeny tiny things absolutely set people off. A woman doesn't know little mix songs?? Must be a fake. There's a lot of stuff they don't show, probably mostly people asking why Will I Am would be on this show. The closest we got was Denise Van Outen asking if people really think Will I Am is in one of these flats doing his own washing up. It's interesting to see the catfishes flounder when they fail to construct an entire world around their character. Series 1 had a girl who catfished as her own grandad, but decided to make him a never-married childless man. He had nothing going on and she got upset no one liked her 'grandad' Comparing him to series 2's single mother catfish, in which a man had a whole binder of information based on his sister and other women he knew. He was able to answer any question and get snotty if people delved a bit too deep. The series became a battle of class, and it's unfortunate he lost the in-house winners vote to the UKIP man. Enjoying this series. The army police girl getting upset at the nurse being an assassin, only to turn around 30 minutes later and say 'I have successfully made this woman my girlfriend' was top tier circling.

If the show ever gets cancelled I want it to be because Greg gets too angry about the adverts. v I thought it was a lot better than last week, all told. Only the haunting task fell a bit flat. stev fucked around with this message at 00:00 on Mar 26, 2021 |

Struggling with this series of Taskmaster, or that episode at least. The Circle definitely has a bit of third series syndrome going on. I thought the high ground from some of the players after the assassin revelation was irritating, like they wouldn't have done the same. No stand out big players for me so far in this group, where in the earlier series I feel like things emerged quite quickly and the status quo never really changed much going forward.

It was a nice illustration of the well-known fact that two men can't have an argument without eventually mentioning their genitals. A great episode overall, my sympathies are unchanged.

The shows kind of heartwarming in the fact that every time someone creates a catfish specifically to try and make them as popular as possible and make them white, middle-class, attractive etc. it always backfires, and the most successful ones have been when the person seems to have genuine love for the character they created e.g. the single mum last season and syed this one.

Never heard of The Circle until mentioned here, yt'ed it, and one of the first things was the Series 3 introduction of the players. Then watched a few clips. Charlie Brooker did a Big Brother zombie thing called Dead Set years ago. The characters on it were meant to be unlikable and thick. The people on Circle remind me of them. Sorry, but this looks garbage.

It might not be for you, but for what its worth the player introductions are the worst part, and made it look like Love Island or some crap to me, but I quickly got hooked after that.

I think one of the most on point reactions to Taskmaster is Doc Brown just going "I thought I was cool under pressure before this show, and watching myself do all these tasks has shattered that illusion" after he failed to see not one but two bridges over a river he had to cross during a task. It really sums up how the players feel in most cases from what I've gathered watching the show and listening to the podcast.

Incidentally my favourite Doc Brown moment is his appearance on Do The Right Thing (https://www.comedy.co.uk/podcasts/dotherightthing/series5_5/) where he gets into a fight with the Expert Guest, tries to backpeddle, does a poo poo job of backpeddling and just digs himself even deeper and deeper.

I've never even heard of Do the Right Thing, but Joe Lycett's pretty good as a stand up and his show Joe Lycett's Got Your Back has some fun bits from what I've seen on YouTube, so I might have to give it a listen. Thanks for the inadvertent recommendation.

I have no idea how he got it back honestly, given that it was already several stories high when we see it over the fence for the last time. The only scenario I can imagine is that it got tangled in a tree, and he climbed up to quite a precarious position given how spindly the trees look and got it; but that'd take a while since he'd have to run over there, climb up, run back, get back over the fence without something to stand on in obvious sight etc, and he did the entire thing in only a few minutes. Which would be impressive from someone young, regardless of time. Even then, it looked like the balloon was already above the height of the surrounding trees in the direction he comes back from. There are taller trees than the last height you can see the balloon at on the other side of that green, but not on the side he emerges from.

I've been watching Man Down recently. Mike is actually slightly wasted in it - he's almost too much of a straightman and doesn't get enough opportunity to be eccentric. Then next to him Roisin is playing a brain damaged toddler.
