You guys are massively overthinking this. Every single one of these shows simply chooses whatever plot point gives itself easy melodrama in the moment, with exactly zero thought to future plot lines, prior actions, or consistent characters. They’ve almost always been this way.

Even in the moment it made no sense though. Giving up his powers was functionally identical to just choosing not to use them, except that it prevented him from changing his mind. It's not a problem for the writers because they can just give him his powers back any time they want, but from the character's perspective it's a crazy dumb decision that should have had all his friends worried about him. In fact, it was the lack of melodrama surrounding it that really made it odd.

No, in fact iirc she specifically said it was okay

He wanted to be a normal boy except he didn’t want to leave STAR Labs either. So he’s just the pouty boy behind the console now. Plus they have to jump through hoops to give him powers without giving him powers. It’s very dumb.

Nope. Mainly because I think James Masters is attractive and don't think that guy is. But that's just my opinion.

It was just till he turned around. Once you saw his face it was obvious.

Yeah, the episode where he actually gets rid of his powers had very strong "leaving the show" energy but then next season started and he was still hanging around.

For that matter, so did Nash absorbing the essences of "every Wells in the multiverse" and then channeling them/it into the Speed Force Battery.

I assume that's gonna be a big reveal at some point. The status quo of all the shows right now seems to be "There's a multiverse but nobody knows it.", which makes sense given what they saw at the end of Crisis.

I heard that John Wesley Shipp is going to be Stargirl's Flash, so it seems like we're going for the classic Earth 1 JLA, Earth 2 JSA setup now

Yeah everyone was super emotional in that scene, but he was the worst Wells that seemed to interact the least with the team, so I figured that was Cavanagh's sendoff.

Looks like more future shenanigans are in the works as late this season Jordan Fisher will be guest starring as Bart Allen. With a twist to the character where he's going to be Barry and Iris' son instead of grandson.

The twist is that Diggle did it. He never really forgave Barry for turning his daughter into his son.

Everyone's being extremely dismissive of Killer Frost in this episode. She very clearly didn't want to be recombined with Caitlin and everyone was completely oblivious, and then she tells Caitlin that she's scared all the time and often doesn't even know why, and Caitlin just goes "you'll be OK, everyone gets scared sometimes!"

IIRC there was that period where Frost was running around as Amunet's enforcer.

I'll agree with a lot of what's been posted about this season.

The coronavirus stuff definitely had an impact. Opening with Wells basically mid-sentence before he dies for an absurdly long time in a screaming agonized ball of light was a little bit different tonally. Definitely the end of the last season where you were still supposed to remember Eva and be really concerned about her reign of terror and see that the only way to fight her :words:

They could have given his sacrifice more than an afternoon's worth of relevance though.

"Wells just died horrifically to make this machine work Barry"
"Cool, we managed to stop a single heist. Well I'm all hosed up now and gave my wife brain damage. There the machine is broken."

Maybe I'm mis-remembering the way too loving long Synder thing I sat through but I swear there was a joke about that Barry and the power of love. It'd be ridiculously awesome if that really was established continuity between the show and that silly bloated film.

So really no Wells this season, and the only probable crossover we'd get is with those other time guys?
