I think we're about to give Luther a shot. I was only sort of vaguely aware of its existence and didn't know it was Idris Elba. I'm down to check out anything he's in.

The Irregulars Just a couple episodes into this Sherlock Holmes spinoff. Casting-wise, it's in the same vein of Bridgerton, with a diverse young cast set in Victorian England and set to modern music. I was expecting it to be terrible, and I don't think it is. It's not great, but it's dark enough to be almost interesting. So far it seems to be a supernatural boogieman of the week but building up to a bigger mystery.

Finished this too, and I liked it, but I definitely preferred the earlier parts where they were solving supernatural mysteries with Dr. Watson (first six eps or so) to the ending, where it basically becomes an MCU film with a giant pillar of light and a bad guy cackling about becoming a god.

Into the Badlands, just started season 2. Not as good as the first so far. Everyone is split off in their own separate story and not interacting with each other at all, whereas in the first season they were constantly all running into each other and forming various alliances and conflicts. I'm sure it'll rectify in due course but for now, it's not as good. Whenever a show does that there's always one or two characters or storylines that arent as interesting to me as the others so whenever the scene opens and I realise it's one of those it causes my attention to wander, such as making this post. Now I'm going to have to rewind, lengthening the fatigue.

Later seasons of Game of Thrones were bad for this too.

Watched first season of Bad Blood. Solid. Very classic gangster type story but well made. Good cast. So of course I moved on to second season.

:lmao: What the gently caress? (spoiler for season 2) Out of the gate incesty twins as main antagonists. Apparently Kim Coates is now entirety of Montreal mafia and he is going to solo another whole crime family. :wtc: what even is this?

I stopped after a couple of episodes since it was amazingly dumb. What happened here?

Well, no Timothy Hutton. And Hardison will only be in some of the episodes due to prior commitments.

Just started (IE almost finished season 2) of Vikings and I like it a lot. It's not as good as The Last Kingdom in my opinion, and it's uncanny the plot similarities are between the shows. Excited to see how Season 3 develops.

Falling...
Finally entering the final season of Person of Interest. This has been a rollercoaster, although I thought the very end of season 4 was incredibly hammy and over the top. Otherwise I'm just excited to finally get into the endgame. Glad to see Reese is finally loosening up.

First season was based on true story, ended up more popular then they thought, the rest is (fake) history

I'm curious how you will feel as it goes on. Most goon opinions are that the first few seasons are insanely good but there is definitely a dip in quality later on. Not even an ounce of viking blood in me but I really enjoyed the first couple of seasons.

Finally got to watch Debris. It's okay for a Fringe/X-Files type show. I'm not blown away by it so far but I'm not offended by it. The male lead annoys me but I'm hoping they pull a Grant Ward with him in the next season but there is just something about me that irritates. Not sure why. The one thing I really like is the retro futuristic synth soundtrack. A bit Blade Runner-esque at times and gives a menacing, broody, tense vibe. Very simple bit always solid. The end credits with ambient music over shortwave chatter is really (again, in my opinion) creepy as gently caress and another selling point. Really hope this show picks up/influences other show soundtracks. As a whole I like the general concept but not all the execution. This soundtrack tho... I find myself digging it.

Luther was a pretty good comedy; I remember in series 1 where he just goes ape-poo poo and rips apart an office in the police station and people were just cool with it cause he was a detective genius. Or when he was stalking his ex-wife and people let it slide cause he was a good cop who would go crazy everywhere and solve some crimes or let murderers go free.

Oh I have been there for several years because my mom and pop liked them, and I liked the Poirot books, so Poirot, Midsommer, Frost, The Coroner, Bergerac, Morse etc. I've seen it. :D David Suchet is so far beyond any other Poirot actor it is beyond believe.

Only thing I did not like are the newer Ms. Marple versions after they changed the actor and its completely irrational. I just think that the new Ms. Marple actor, while being very good on her job, has weird face and has eyes too far from each other.

EDIT: also obviously Beck and Wallander and the other Nordic Noir series; they actually shot one of those (Bordertown) in my home town.

binged all of harley quinn. season 1 is gold, season 2 is really disappointing in how much it tries to tell a very bland dramatic story at the cost of it's humor. not the end of the world because season 1 is still something worth showing your friends, but season 2 feels like some really good jokes with a lot of filler.

Nearly done binging Baby on Netflix. It starts out as a teen drama set in a posh school in Rome, where one of the main characters who's in the popular group, gets top marks in everything and is the best runner in the athletics team, through a chance encounter becomes friends with the school outcast who everyone mockingly calls "pudding bowl" (not sure if that's some Italian slang that's been lost in translation or just a reference to her hairstyle). It's pretty light fare at first with all the usual teen drama stuff; one of the girls fancies the new boy whose dad is an ambassador, but he fancies her best friend! The drama! One of the guys has a coming out as gay arc, one of the students has a thing for his teacher - your standard teen fare.

Before long it takes a bit of a dark turn when one or two of the characters decide to get mixed up in the Escorting business, and start leading secret double lives. Things escalate, of course, except as this happens the show keeps its lighthearted teen drama tone and you can really feel the juxtaposition. I was kinda wtf-ing to myself and laughing in some places because what was going on story-wise was really quite creepy but it still felt like I was watching Riverdale or some CW show or something. Over the course of the three seasons, however, the whole tone of the show has very slowly adjusted to match its subject matter; the soundtrack is darker, the scenes are more serious now, and I really hope that it was a deliberate choice to do it that way (rather than a course-correction) because it has matched the underage girls' slow realisation that what they're involved in isn't a game, it's really bad and serious and they're not in control like they think they are, the consequences are much worse than they thought and they're actually in over their heads.

If themes of power-imbalance and the abuse thereof are not your jam then stay away, but otherwise I can probably recommend it. I spent the whole first episode alternating between the English dub and the original Italian with subs and usually I'll almost always go with a dub if it isn't terrible. I settled for subs this time because the english-speaking voice actress for one of the main characters sounded completely wrong - especially after hearing the original actress' voice.
