I love math, but then I watch some math video where a mathemagician is like "So there's (3X +1)^2 in the denominator, but we can add '+ 1 - 1' outside the parenthesis and keep it the same, but this allows us to..." and I just check right out. E: Rock Paper Tongue posted:Laplace transforms are great and I still use them regularly. They turn differential equations into algebraic ones, which makes doing signal processing and circuit analysis slightly less of a miserable slog. You also get to write fancy Ls! I like Fourier transforms because they let you turn analog signals into digital ones. Batterypowered7 fucked around with this message at 00:19 on Mar 27, 2021 |

Complex numbers in eight dimensions are non-associative, meaning that (i*j)*k is not necessarily equal to i*(j*k).

I used to be all about math and science but it turns out when I shut up about it I ended up getting laid way more often. Having said that is there a matrices game? I always loved working on matrices cause they're fun puzzles. This column here, this row there, etc. Just have the game randomly generate problems with valid solutions and go ham. It'd be way more interesting as a time waster than gem matching or some poo poo. Maybe have an option for a limited set of moves.

I teach in primary school so my math is pretty simple but there's still a lot of fun to be had around that. You ever look into hand abacus? It's brilliant, you can count up to 99 on your fingers without taking your socks off.

When base 12 makes no sense until you look at your fingers and oh wait no it makes perfect sense but then you ask why base 14 never took off.

It's already solved but is X -2? And I don't understand why I need to factor? Oh god this grade 7 all over again I should have paid more attention.

(x+3)^2-1 Square the parentheses stuff. FOIL that sweet lady. x2 + 6x +9 -1 =0 Subtractify 9-1 with dweeb quikness. x2 +6x +8 4 and 2 added make 6, product makes 8. factorify it with that (x+4)(x+2) x=-4 x=-2 Check it by ramming -4 into x. (-4+3)2 -1 =0 (-1)2 -1 = 0 1-1= fukking 0. Gently insert -2 (-2+3)2 -1 =0 (1)2 -1 =0 1-1= loving 0 You could also use the discriminant (racist) to determine how many solutions once you get it to this point: x2 +6x +8 (62 - 4(1)(9)= 2; if answer > 2, then two real solutions)

Colonel Cancer posted:x and y get the gently caress outta here you're not even numbers The biggest problem with math is that at some point, most of us met a poo poo math teacher, who just read off answers from the back of the book and hand waved explanations. You couldn't do that as a driving instructor. "Oh yeah, you start the car, do a little razzle dazzle, and then, BOOM! you're off the highway, having safely avoided the collision! Now parallel park this sumnbitch!" My algebra 1 teacher in 9th grade would work on problems 50% of the way, realize there was a mistake in the process, erase everything but just write the answer down. My current status as a math toucher is apparently my penance for being a dick to her back then.

So if you graph this out, your curvy line will cross the x-axis at -4 and -2. You see, this whole loving thing is a goddamn curvy line that penetrates the x-axis in two spots. The whole thing's a loving travesty. edit: a loving travesty.

Complex numbers in sixteen dimensions have zero divisors, meaning that there are two non-zero numbers that you can multiply and end up obtaining 0 as an answer.
