I'm here today to introduce to you Outworlder, a game developed by Igloosoft with goon members such as lead developer Rhopunzel, business stooge Glenn Quebec (or whatever busted username he has rn), talented rear end composer Colorfinger (who constantly suffers at the hand of Glenn during testing sessions), our randy artist Babe Magnet, and last and absolutely least, social media nimrod, me, LSBB. Our lead dev's credentials include work on Starbound and Rimworld, the latter of which you might remember as a really good game and the former you might remember as not. Outworlder is a sci-fi, 2D, sandbox, survival, building game in the style of Terraria, however, what sets it apart is our goal of robust NPC functionality. That's NPCs to do your dirty work, defend your bases, craft your junk, research weapons and items, repair your structures, build for you, mine for you, prepare food for you, protect you, and so on. That also means they'll need food, a place to sleep, warmth, and comfort. Think Rimworld on a two dimensional plane with a great heaping of Terraria. We've got stuff you love like -  But not any regular old Terraria style bases, because your settlements will need workers that run the gamut from engineers, armorers, researchers, butchers, miners, enforcers, farmers, and so on, they will eventually reach enormous proportions; to make life easier we have planned tools like Z-doors, which will allow you to move from room to room, or quickly across your base, by entering doors set within your walls on the Z-axis. This will open up tons of possibilities for base layouts and will help your colonists move from station to station, room to room, without having to painstakingly path around labyrinthine spaces. Never fear though, smaller outposts are possible and will in fact be necessary on longer excursions. You will eventually need specialized colonists to progress. Scientists will research advanced technology, armorers will build extravagant weaponry, engineers will create complex building materials and maintain structures, cooks will create nutritious and buff giving foods - some of them, however, will be quite niche in their applications. Artists to entertain? A clown to torment your settlers? Who knows what we've got planned? Automated defenses will help fortify your bases. Blocks will be able to take damage, which can be used for good (digging big ole holes out the earth, or blowing away raider structures) or bad (your structures taking damage), but rather than have you tediously take care of this level of maintenance, your settlers will help do it for you. We're still hashing out the level of automation we're shooting for, but our hopes are for large, self-sufficient bases that can reach majestic sizes, with a wide variety of building types.  Remember Soldat? Liked Soldat? Good, because our combat system has a similar focus on projectile physics and snappy movement. Bullets have drop-off, velocity, and variable spread. Casings are modelled, as are magazines and other offal your weapon craps out as carnage pops off around you. Enemy factions, raiders, giant predatory beasts, eerie impostor colonist mimics, alien creatures, and all kinds of other things that want you dead will put your combat skills to the test. You don't have to go it alone though, you can bring along friendly NPCs that, if equipped properly, can stand their own and help you out of sticky situations. Got downed? Don't worry, your medic will patch you up. Need suppressing fire? Let your heavy gunner lay down covering fire so you can get in close. Need a meatshield? Have your heavily armored enforcer charge in and beat some skulls. Your arsenal will run the gamut from plinky peashooters, to laser beams, to miniguns, to weird alien weaponry, all the way up to outrageous tools of destruction like nuke launchers and gauss cannons. You will not want for guns let me put it that way. Grenades, satchel charges, and other more useful, niches tools will be available as well. Defend your bases with automated turrets, artillery, mines, or good old fashioned barbed wire. Defensive emplacements will be another part of your arsenal to keep idiots from ransacking your hard-won goody-goodies.  Planets will be, of course, randomly generated. Biomes from scorching desert, to sludge forests, to icy wastes, to bountiful plains, to alien environs will enrich the world. Each will have their own flora and fauna, their own mysteries, their own ways for you to get horribly killed - or greatly rewarded. Animals will all have their own behaviors, respond to each other appropriately and react to you as well. Our hope is to have some level of ecological simulation, including the ability to tame animals, either as pets or livestock. Underground exploration will also yield unique challenges and opportunities but delving deep might be the only way to procure valuable resources for advanced technology, or to discover ancient alien lore. NPCs will be able to help you clear a path, and demolition capabilities can have you tearing through caverns and hidden chambers faster than a measly pickax or drill. Eventually, you will want to set your sights on bigger goals, and this is where we plan to offer means of moving off-planet. Our goal is to grant you the ability to visit other planets with their own resources, biomes, and rewards. Building outposts will be invaluable, as you will be able to staff them with colonists to take care of your affairs - mining on the planet, refining resources, and researching. We hope to offer you the ability to automate many facets of this system. Want to have resources ferried from one planet to another? Your NPCs can take care of that for you. We want you to be able to explore without feeling that you constantly need to be obsessing over the maintenance and minutiae of things. Mechs, ships, and vehicles will also eventually be available to you, with variable levels of customization.  - Multiplayer! Coop and PvP. Join your friends in setting up colonies and exploring, or engage in various PvP modes. Build up forts, defend them or have them smashed down by your enemies. Suffer setbacks as your NPC armorers are assassinated. Be the team medic, or the team idiot who is worthless. - Mod support! Want to make your own cool or incredibly weird (potentially creepy) mods? Go right ahead. We use Unity, so any familiarity with the engine will help make your unspeakable dreams come true. - Customizable play experience! Make things as easy or as difficult as you want them to be. Play for creativity, or play to be punished. - Host your own servers! We know this is a big sticking point for a lot of people, so have at it.  And now, here it is, what we need you for. We're proud of how far we've come, but we've got a long, long way to go, and we're finally at the stage where our game is starting to actually look, and play like something. That means we're going to need the perspective and voices of outside individuals to let us know what we need to adjust, what terrible bugs need to be squashed, and what cool mechanics, functionality, or QoL features would make our game better to play!
