And even further back around late Summer the CDC issued a statement saying that people should expect at least three months of immunity given some basic assumptions from other viruses, which a lot of people took as definitive proof that immunity could only possibly last three months. US schools really need to have a whole semester on quantitive statements I guess.

We have no idea how long the vaccines last because there's not a magical number of antibodies or T-cells that fight off a COVID-19 infection. It's not like you can stick a human on a dyno or in a salt chamber to speed up the corrosion, but morons are using the 6-month confirmation to whine about it or push more anti-vax poo poo. My paperwork had me fill out that it was good for a year, but it was clearly a check-the-box exercise.
