actually avery brooks is so good in ds9 because he is the only begotten son of god and he cooks jambalaya for our sins and he will count to 4 after three days in the neutral zone

everyone always talks about avery brooks doing ham, but he gives a ton of incredibly sober and rational performances as sisko throughout the series. also his relationship w/ jake never feels over the top or cheesy. hes really good and sisko is definitely my fav captain.

yeah. sisko is a good dad and while i'll talk a bunch of silliness about him slaying demons with a fiery sword of justice, my love for him is mostly due to his very human reactions and relationships. most saliently, his relationships with jake, dax, cassidy yates, etc. he's the only captain that feels like a person imo

sisko is the best tv dad. it's not often you see a tv dad be physically and emotionally affectionate with their kids, especiall not older kids. I love DS9, Avery Brooks is perfect for the part, and the hamming it up could be seen as in character, that it's actually Sisko Kirking it up rather than Avery Brooks acting Shatnerian.

i am a late to the party woody allen liker these films are good vicky cristina barcelona hannah and her sisters midnight in paris this is ok match point bad and kinda creepy whatever works (even tho i love larry david) mighty aphrodite In fact given context they are all a lot creepier in retrospect except midnight in paris which is quite wholesome and cute imo

I always got the impression Woody Allen was one of those directors only film critics and other directors like, and that his films are painfully mediocre but he somehow continues to be allowed to make them because it's been decided he's an auteur and thus above critism

midnight in paris is the most I've enjoyed a woody allen movie but it is also by far the least woody allenney movie he's made. annie hall is pretty good. a few really good scenes in that movie.
