Riptor posted:how many loving progressive and geico commercials do we need Been watching some MLB Spring Training games on MLB.TV and I'm already so, so, SO sick of hearing Dick Vitale yelling while pouring gatorade on his head, even moreso because it sounds like they mixed the commercial wrong every time I hear it and it's louder than the show I'm watching. And having watched baseball on MLB.TV for the past few seasons I know that I'll be seeing this ad every break during every game for the entire season. The NBC Sports channel on TV where I watch hockey/basketball/baseball basically every night has the same bucket of commercials they pull from all year too so it's the same deal there. It's stupid to complain about not having enough variety of commercials but it's goddamn relentless.

And they’re still bringing back random older ones like they started doing last year. The GEICO one with Dikembe Mutombo from like 8 years ago has been on a ton lately.

I said it before but Progressive's "don't become your parents" commercials are the funniest of the lot. Everything else reeks of unfunny try-hard

Whichever one has the emu is the absolute worst. Lame gimmick and the guy is really annoying.

The last few Christmases I've bought him history books knowing full well that he'll tell me that I should read it after he's done, so I'll pick stuff I'd like to read. There's an Alexa commercial where the dad asks it when Pompeii was destroyed, and a screaming Roman tells him it's 79 AD. Anno domini wasn't used until the sixth century; Romans just used the names of whatever consuls were in power at the time. This pisses me off because I am an insufferable nerd.

What pisses me off because I'm an insufferable nerd is that the screaming Roman spoke and understood modern English fluently. Also, bothering people who are in the middle of dying horribly is just rude.

I just assume it was one that got held over longer like a ton of others from last year when most companies couldn’t get new ads out. Seeing it so many times is annoying, but the ad itself isn’t the worst thing in recent memory. Remember the Idina Menzel “I read that wrong oh yeah!” poo poo from last fall?

A little bit late to jingle chat, but all you have to bring is your love of everything. Beautiful Mount Airy Lodge! The famed Poconos resort saw some poo poo since the '80's, and it's now a casino.

I know it’s mostly radio, but what was the Shane Company address for you guys? In my city everyone knows that you have a friend in the diamond business on Olive just east of Lindbergh, or in Brentwood at the intersection of I-170 and Highway 40. Open Monday thru Friday til 8, Saturday and Sunday til 5, or online at shaneco.com.

Around here you take I-25 to exit two-thirty-five, then five miles west to the tree farm.

Riptor posted:how many loving progressive and geico commercials do we need Insurance is a major industry where most customers buy it once and then never think about it again. So the benefit of having Company X be the first one that comes to mind when it's time for you to buy insurance is huge. Thus, Geico/Progressive/Allstate/Nationwide ad saturation. It's even more annoying because for most people their products aren't really different from one another at all.

This allstate commercial with the guy, likely on LSD, driving down the road while singing a song with his hood ornament; I can't understand at all what they're singing in the last half of that song. I can't tell if it's the mixing of the audio or a bunch of similar sounding words in a row so it just sounds like "oooooh there's a ooooo ooo ooooeee". I also don't really understand why he's singing about making lots of money in a car insurance commercial? It's an unfortunately catchy tune though and they play it every commercial break on NBCSN so it's bored deep inside my brain.

USAA should still be restricted to officers (which it was weirdly late, like mid 90s) just so we’d have one less insurance company constantly blasting lovely ads. And I barely ever see a commercial these days

Credit Karma is owned by Intuit, which as I recall started moving all its ad spending to TurboTax over the past 18 months or so after everyone and their mother used a free tax program last year. (PSA: The major tax return providers are required, under federal law, to provide a free filing option, so it isn't just the IRS that offers free tax services.)

Uggh, just saw this horrible All State ad featuring a guy driving a car and singing along to the Pet Shop Boys "Opportunities" (which is a great song)...when suddenly the hood ornament comes alive and starts singing along too, badly, and out of tune. I felt like I was hallucinating or something, it was just so bizarre.

I'm not a big fan of the commercial myself but she is hardly out of tune. They're both singing in harmony; she's just on a different scale.
