Well it's in the name of their patreon and their annual awards and what they call their fan community.

I have enjoyed plenty of the OSW podcast but their constant 40-year-old adolescent streak has always been grating. The problem spilled over when they got on a rant about Teddy Long talking about his experience as a black man, and then fans defended it as "They are but simple irish folk and don't understand why they're being racist"

There's a quote I've heard a few times, "there's no such thing as a good antiwar war movie." I can't say I've seen many of those but as a video game nerd, Metal Gear Solid embodies this paradox. Is Solid Snake miserable? Yep. Does Naked Snake lose his humanity and become a monster? Also yes. The moral message is always anti-violence and war. Yet the game's mechanics are all about fighting. Solid and Naked Snake do so much cool poo poo. Something like Revengeance glorifies violence even more.

So I guess you could extend it to there's no such thing as a good anti-crime crime movie. A lot of people will just remember the highs and discount the lows as "well, that was a mistake I wouldn't make."

It's just the problem with creating art, really. Your intentions do matter but not absolutely.

There's people who played Bioshock and thought it was a drat shame other people stopped Andrew Ryan's otherwise flawless plans.

For many years this forum has frustratingly thought they've been that kind of gleefully lightly racist and sexist. Kind of like how Family Guy has all it's offensive humour - it's not really laughing at the sexism, racism etc. it kinda just [u]is[u/] all it's awful humour.

In other discussion, is it worth trying to get the video for the Lance review/breaking of Vinny's will?

For me it was some combination of the Tattoo reviews and Sunny Side Up. I think it’s around the point where they rant about wrestlers calling the match in the ring that I clocked that they don’t know what the gently caress they’re talking about.

Tangentially related, Attitude Era Podcast released their Best Of for their UK PPV eps and man, I forgot that when they’re celebrating Sable’s final appearance they poo poo all over her sexual harassment lawsuit. loving yikes.

I'd argue that Journey's End is a good antiwar war movie. Tense and horrible and all about men going mad when faced with the prospect of death.

They've definitely gotten a lot better over the years in regards to this sort of thing, and at least it's clear they're making an effort to improve and cut down on the lovely edgelord stuff that a lot of their peers haven't grown out of.

Waltz With Bashir is literally about a guy who is so traumatised by his experiences in war that he can no longer remember what he witnessed that hosed him up so much, until it all comes flooding back at the end.

Yeah when they said Casino glorified the mob I was like "did we watch the same movie?"

Especially weird when they isolated Goodfellas as not really glorifying the mob like their other examples

Instead of talking about the bad podcast (that has always been bad) I will instead say that Lance reviewing the Battel of the Empire was great and I really liked his point about wrestlers blowing up. It rarely bothers me and most of the time people complain about it the match doesn't suffer at all, a guy is just breathing heavily. It's normal.

People identify with protagonists and they don't like it when the protagonist is a oval office.

Also the OSW lot are at their worst when they're not doing edited retrospective reviews and when they're just commenting along with a PPV. Scary to think they're doctors.

One of the biggest distinctions between serious Chocopro and soft/comedy Chocopro is that everyone in a serious match gets super blown up by the end. It works especially well in the intimate environment and camera. Always makes the serious matches feel like a big event.

Chris Champion. Reliable wrestler who is really only known for work he did under a gimmick. Was half of The New Breed in the original FCW, and was Kowabunga The Wrestling Turtle for CWA/USWA. Also briefly in a tag team called The SS, which asks more questions than it answers.

Listened to the Oral Sessions episode with the Miz, which was recorded during the one week he was champion. Hoo boy was he in storylinr, even out of character, about how he wanted to have a good reign and all the people he wanted to defend against.
