saw a story recently about someone with a surname of "Test" who kept getting their reservations canceled.

Tony Hawk isn't really rich. https://wealthygorilla.com/tony-hawk-net-worth/ estimated worth is only $140 mil, which is probably less than some yosposters, and definitely less than some goons

# ? Apr 9, 2021 19:27 |
|
what yosposter has anywhere near that much money like, that is not pulling-down-your-allotted-figgies money. that is not even scion-of-the-local-aristocrats money. that is serious generational or superstar or founded-a-major-company wealth

140 mil is only “not rich” in the context of there being bloodsucking billionaires 140 mil is plenty for you and generations of your family to never have to work for a wage

140 mil is being able to spend anywhere between 1-2 mil a year without working for your entire life and not going through it. 1 mil is over 25 years of US median wages. having 140 mil is having over 3,500 years of today's US median wages worth of money in total. it's being rich by any factor, even if you're not the biggest rear end in a top hat at the top of the pole

those net worth websites for random celebrities are completely made up btw, I suspect tony hawk is worth much less than 140mil. still probably “never have to work again” money

140 mil is just enough for a down payment on a house in vancouver

like, i have a friend from college who came from money, although she never really let on or visibly lived differently from the rest of us. apparently her grandfather had started a small real-estate firm in connecticut, and her father had been very successful and built that out into a bigger company. so she grew up in a huge house, i think even with servants, and went to a series of prep schools full of the children of obnoxiously wealthy people, before going to cmu and slumming it up with a bunch of kids on financial aid packages iirc their family fortune was still only like twenty million. which is obviously still extremely rich tony hawk is really really loving rich
|
# ? Apr 9, 2021 20:14 |

according to wikipedia tony hawk has or at one point had: -royalties from all the tony hawk games -a few years as a top athlete, albeit in a fringe sport that was having a moment -a few random small movie and TV roles -his own skateboarding gear company that's a lot of income and he's been active for ~30 years, if he didn't waste it on celebrity lifestyle bullshit he'd have quite a pile by now
