you put down five dollars and there is a 1 in 1 chance you will receive a beer! it is way more fun than slot machines or table games

I've been to Vegas a couple times and there is a fine line of playing penny slots or video poker or cheap blackjack where you can get comped drinks and not lose more than you would be spending on the drinks and that's fun

once in my undergrad days a friend of mine invited some people I didn't really like over to my dorm to hang out and drink beers. As it was my dorm room, I controlled the music. I played a few of the current pop hits by request and then just started blasting Swan's No Words/No thoughts at maximum volume. They left pretty shortly after that.

I do like that series but think it's pretty overpriced.

My guess would be because they used real whole fruit added at the beginning of fermentation. I love a good fruit beer, but there are a lot of examples of not very good fruit beers. I had a peach Berliner weisse yesterday and was hesitant, because so many fruit beers are so sweet now, especially sours, but it was nice and tart with plenty of peach character other than the sweetness.

Man, this is such a downer for me, trying to find cider that isn't just a sugar cane smacking me in the face with every sip. Try finding ciders that aren't super sweet. Unfortunately all we seem to make here, and import are sweet tasting apple ciders.

I did find a few that were really dark coloured, and had a much more earthy taste when I last visited France, but whatever style that was doesn't seem to be available at home for me.

Where are you again? My brother complains about the same thing as he's more of a cider drinker than me. Cider Riot in Portland does funkier sour types of cider that I really enjoyed, and I'm not usually very big on cider.

The best ROI, fun and games wise in vegas is a stop at one of the many dispensaries to grab some edibles, followed by an evening at the pinball hall of fame

I'm on Vancouver Island, in BC. The workaround I've been using is to pour it over ice, and let the dilution tame the sugar.

IDK how much american cider you can get in BC, but Seattle Cider makes drier ciders that are pretty widely available here. a lot of ciders have started printing a sweet/dry scale on the can as well

Breton cider (what it's generally called), and also Normandy cider (which you aren't likely to find outside of France, even if it's famous for apple booze) is really nice if you can find it. Less alcoholic than British style ciders but so flavourful.
A British style dry cider was a unicorn even a few years ago here, but there's been a big explosion of craft cider in Ontario and there's some very good dry ciders and perries being made here now. Okanagan cider, which I guess is what you're most likely to get in BC, has always tended to be more like alcopop and super sweet. I'd be surprised if there wasn't some craft cider being fermented out there now though. Check the ingredients label on the can, and if it only says apples, water (and maybe like sulphites), chances are it'll be more to your palette. It's surprising how many add sugar even when they claim to be "dry" or "farmhouse" style or whatever.

E- maybe see if you can find some of this?

Finger Prince nailed it with the okanagan alcopop style. There are a lot of craft ciders around here these days, but yeah, they have a tendency to be sweet, even when labeled dry. I have had a couple local~ish ciders that were drier, but it's hit & miss when trying out new ones.

eta: oooh, thanks for the rec. I've seen that one, but not tried it yet!
