When the Legendary movie was announced none of the articles about it mentioned G-Saviour, and Gundam fans didn't even criticize them for it. G-Saviour is so drat boring and forgettable, not even interesting as a curiosity despite being a live action Gundam feature film, it's totally OK to just act like it doesn't count.

the only thing keeping me from buying a copy of g-savior when I first got a dvd drive in my computer in 2000 (which was the only dvd player I had until they got so cheap they started giving them away) was that while it was less expensive than buying any actual anime dvds, it was still more expensive at suncoast than a regular movie

rip suncoast, thank you for keeping me from seeing g-savior

Love to own the first 26 episodes of the 52 episode series because the latter half had a print run of eight copies and scalpers put each of them on ebay at $300 a disc.

That's like 3 tapes maximum, the hell?

A friend of mine bought most of the Buu Saga uncut on VHS in like mid-2002 or so before most of it even aired on Toonami (they reverted to running the Saiyan Saga at the time after already looping twice thru Vegeta blowing himself up).

I'm scared to ask how much his mother paid for those.

Yep, only 3 but in my area the only anime not on Toonami was at our crappy pseudo comic con that barely had anything going for it.

If you wanted anything that wasn't a copy of a copy of a copy, you had to pay out the nose.

Being a kid and an anime fan in the 90s sucked. You were stuck watching what few shows made it to TV and every once in a while Sci-Fi Channel would air some anime movies. Your best bet was having a weird uncle who would import laserdiscs and/or would buy the R rated tapes so you could watch stuff like Akira or the original Ghost in the Shell movie.

Although even when anime became popular in the early 00s it just lead to companies bringing over any old crap with very limited quality control.

Every anime fan back then had some DBZ and Sailor Moon episodes, Ghost In The Shell, Ninja Scroll and maybe some Appleseed if you were lucky.

I may be an old lovely man now but it really is amazing how little kids these days appreciate having literally all media a click away.

Say Watt?

I guess it would have been in '99 or '00 I gave up on the DBZ dub after it kept restarting (YTV in Canada) and went online to continue watching but it was brutal. Using a dial-up modem, and before filesharing programs blew up, and goddamn RealPlayer, and what I could find was often such poor quality I didn't understand why someone would even upload it in the first place.

I got lucky, there were some cool video stores in my neighborhood that carried pretty much everything, and there was some station in Chicago that aired anime and I got to see stuff like Roujin Z and Robot Carnival when I was young.
