The company I work for has a deal with a training provider to get people their cert 3 in disability services, then once they get some hours as a trainee under their belt they transition into regular work hours as they near the end of their studies. So essentially they get their qualification paid by the government and walk straight into steady employment. But I've heard that there's also lots of disability services providers out there who will hire people without qualifications as long as they have experience as a carer, then train them on the job.

Trying to organise my psychiatrist for the formal ADHD diagnosis stuff and cannot for the loving life of me find the referral. Hoping I left it at work after scanning it. Also can't find the invoice from the last doctor visit and they didn't do the Medicare rebate on the spot like they normally do and I wanna claim that poo poo back

Yeah in Qld there are a decent whack of doctors that can do the 291 item but most of them are admitting doctors for private hospitals so it's expensive. There are some psychiatrists that can do it aside from them but they're in very high demand. I'm still waiting to hear back if the one I got referred to can take me on as a patient. I also got a job so that's nice.

Turns out it came back more likely for ADHD so I got a referral from her to tell my GP to refer me to an ADHD specialist. They're all private so be prepared to get loving gouged even with Medicare rebate for close to $500 for two appointments. I'm probably in the same boat as laserface, I never struggled academically (the masters and dual bachelors are something of a testament to that) but I do have focus and impulsivity issues more than anything else so ideally the psychiatrist will be the one to finally determine a yes/no to ADHD and hopefully then give me drugs or a treatment plan of some sort. I'm also looking into dealing with an ADHD coach who essentially is a psychologist with ADHD expertise that looks at whole of life stuff. That's still $120 a session and not covered by insurance or Medicare so it's a personal choice. Hope that word salad helps

yeah its insane how its getting built up to be a medium density suburb like its way closer to the city than it is. I was sketchy when they started doing that to alderley 10 years ago and mitchie is like another good 5 minute drive north in clear traffic at least.
