Being the internet I wanted to instinctually post why americans can't be trusted with amber intercycle lights and then my brain successfully put together it was a RHD car and I feel like I dodged a bullet here. E. Anyway it looks like a cycle set up for the same very un trustworthy set of drivers who can't have nice things because instead of amber intercycle, it's 4 way red intercycle which is what you do when you really don't want idiots to die running red lights. zedprime has a new favorite as of 15:16 on Apr 14, 2021 |

Maybe the simpler answer is that automatic transmissions are more common in the US so an extra signal before the light turns green is less relevant?

The light sequence goes green > amber > red, then red > red and amber > green. In the UK, which is where their voices are from, and where people drive on the left.

It is helpful if you have been sat at the light for a while and have it in neutral and with the handbrake on. Which technically you're supposed to do anyway when you stop. If it totally eliminates someone sitting at a green light for more than two seconds while they finish a text then I'm all for it. If it doesn't 100% eliminate it then it's stupid and I hate it almost as much as calling yellow "amber." Should have stuck with the theme and made it "emerald, amber, ruby."
