I'm looking for songs similar to Kali Uchis' new album Sin Miedo. Specifically songs like

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPAdAjejTMQ

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49qnOZNuUmo

I really like her voice and I'm looking for similar artists, but I haven't had much luck finding the same vibe.

I'm not the guy you're responding to, but I love The Rapture, and am trying to get into dance, modern funk, and house music like it. I already love Leon Vynehall, Against All Logic, and Yves Tumor, so I would love any recommendations to help expand my palette, new or old. I love these specific artists, but I know nothing of House as a genre as a whole.

On a more niche level, I loving love the albums Black Terry Cat and Magic Trix by Xenia Rubinos, if someone can rec any music with off kilter vocals and groovy, syncopated rhythms like that to me, I'd be hella grateful. Thank you!

if you're looking for a spanish artist with a similar voice, check out Rosalia. Here's something from a few years ago, (she has turned more towards a reggaeton sound lately, which is not my personal fav):

for what it's worth, I get a bit of a solage vibe from the first song, ymmv:

Thanks for this! I checked out some of Rosalia's songs and I like some of them, like Brillo and TKN with Travis Scott. Solange isn't really my vibe, but thanks for the recommendations.

I actually think the song in question is more of a collaboration, already subscribed to the channel you linked though.

Thanks for the Gogol Bordello recommendation, definitely gonna have a look!

You can't really dust for vomit.
I'm after what I would call stripped-back dark piano-led blues / country. Is there a piano version of Josh T Pearson, for example?

Predominantly solo piano perhaps with some strings and gravely vocals. Like Nick Cave's Idiot Prayer but a bit less ... Nick Cavey?

I'm specifically looking for music with heavy trombone presence. I've been listening to a little Kai Winding and Mingus, and I love how sick and quasi-metal good bass brass licks can be. Any recs? Modern or vintage.

This is in a very different direction, but one of my favorite pieces that features trombone is the track "Redemption" from Blood, Sweat and Tears's fourth album. It's trumpet-foward until 1:45 where Dave Bargeron starts the first trombone solo in the song. Then there's a reprise, which is followed by the second trombone solo AKA "the second half of the song".

You may already be well aware, since you mentioned Nick Cave, but maybe early Tom Waits when he was predominantly piano and strings?

He's not similar to those and doesn't even have an album out yet. Also it's Lil Nas X and Old Town Road.

No. Hes more of a social media person who makes music than he is a musician who uses social media if that makes sense.

The beats are pretty cool but it doesnt have a lot of big words or poetic meaning like Aesop rock. i would recomend J Cole instead,

Can someone recommend an artist or album with production similar to Stankonia? I love the hits of course, but the entire album's sound hits super hard for me. I'm already a fan of Killer Mike and Run the Jewels when it comes to flashy ATL rap, but I'd appreciate any other recommendation, hip-hop or otherwise. Especially if it sounds like Toilet Tisha or Stanklove: that mix of melancholy and groovy is super killer to me.

You want Big Boi's 1st solo record "Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty". Also, you'd probably enjoy other Dungeon Family records (Outkast were part of a collective). I recommend Goldie Mob's "Soul Food" and the Dungeon Family album "Even in Darkness".

Sorry for not replying sooner, my computer died the day after I posted. I haven't listened to either of those classic Houston artists, and I just started listening to that Goodie Mob album, which I really dig; the bass and percussion are super smooth.

I have a bit to dig through. Thanks for responding!

E: Holy poo poo the production of "Diamonds & Wood" is cold as gently caress, that's that groovy poo poo I'm about. Thank you!

Swisha House (Mike Jones, Paul Wall, Slim Thug, etc) don’t sound like that, but I’d call them classic Houston/Dallas artists. You might dig the weirdness that is chopped n screwed. The album Who Is Mike Jones is a good place to try it out in my opinion.

I posted in this thread before about how I want to like metal outside of Reign in Blood more, but find a lot of it too "soft and clicky". One poster really astutely and correctly noted that I might be more interested in noise, which was absolutely correct. I also got recommended Morbid Saint who I dig.

I came across "War Master" by Bolt Thrower the other day and fell in love. Just righteous, no widdle-widdle 5/4 purple ESG 7 string bullshit, just straightforward rage to smash neo-nazi skulls to and went down a thrash-hole.

My question is, assuming I'm familiar with the Big 4 and a couple of other major players (Nuclear Assault, Celtic Frost, Voivod) where do I go next?
