Reckoner is their best song and In Rainbows is my favorite for sure but I agree with teh masses that The Bends - In Rainbows is a practically untouchable run and you should listen to all of them.

I just heard this song for this first time and it rocks. Flashes of Chic guitar work and lots of Tame Impala influence.

Ran through some Chvrches after the new single. The first two albums still hold up really well, but that third one is completely forgettable, maybe one track I like on it. New single is ok, hoping they haven't lost it.

yeah, Graffiti is one of my favourite songs by them, but I didn't really get into the rest of the album. probably had my hopes too high because the track titles make it seem like a dreary and mournful kind of record, but it didn't really dive into the dearths.

I listened to it last night and didn't like it as much as Worlds either, but yeah, definitely seems like a personal album for him. He's hosting a virtual festival tomorrow with Kero Kero Bonito and others that should be fun. I enjoyed last year's installment.

OK Computer is probably the ideal intro to Radiohead, so try that if you haven't. You'll probably recognize 1 or 2 of its best songs already, but on the off chance you don't, you're in for a treat.

If you like that album but think "I wish they did more of the mellow and weird stuff" you're in luck!

If you wish they would get a little more upbeat then you can probably just walk away

I've tried to crack Radiohead a few times, but beyond Kid A, just can't do it. Its not the drearyness (I'm fine with dreary) as much as the worthy Bansky-mural-Black-Mirror-what-if-phones-but-too-much-what-if-Ronald-McDonald-had-a-bottle-of-poison vibe that I can't get past. Kid A is really good, but I've bounced off OK Computer several times now and think I need to call it quits. I'd be open to trying other records, but there's a lack of colour to their music for me for want of a better term.

In Rainbows and (despite the counterintuitive title), Hail to the Thief.

This just came up in a discovery playlist. Straight ahead fuzzy guitar rock, with close vocal harmonies.

In Rainbows was my introduction to Radiohead so I'm biased, but I think it's an incredibly accessible album that's actually a hell of a lot easier to get into than OK Computer at this point, especially if you're coming from a perspective of liking Kid A. I remember watching the From the Basement special for In Rainbows with my parents, who absolutely do not understand any music released after about 1978 that isn't, like, Train, and they still really enjoyed it :v:

never much liked HttT though, given it a couple listens but nothing's ever really "stuck"

I've also never, ever, in my life, understood a Radiohead lyric beyond Creep or How to Disappear Completely, so I don't think I've gotten the same cliche'd vibes you get, but I think In Rainbows doesn't really have that at all (OK Computer and HttT seem much worse for that by my reckoning, which is really just by being products of their time when those were somewhat novel concepts to express in "mainstream" music)

See this is my question right here. Their 2019 album was probably my favorite of the year. Just so intricately put together, constantly rearranging the song as it goes along, and yet it all flows so naturally.

Some will disagree, but I think if you already "get" Kid A but none of their other stuff has clicked yet, they probably just aren't for you. Kid A is the final boss of Radiohead; there's not really anything else to get about them beyond that.

Although, honestly... maybe actually give The King Of Limbs a try. A lot of Radiohead fans didn't like that one, but maybe that indicates that there's something different about it that would actually work for you. To me it has always felt vaguely different though I'm not entirely sure why.

KKB's set

An aside, I just can't get into the other two tracks on Civ2 besides Princess. Glad I saw them live post-Civ1 but still while doing a rock set, songs like Battle Lines translated great to guitar. They also did a cover of U2's Vertigo that the Gen Z crowd moshed to and and the guy next to me asked his friend if it was a new song. Sigh...

I wish there was this much interest in Secret Sky when Wed Camp was still a group, given it was their fourth only and last show in the US. I highly encourage xiangyu (the other two members of the group are behind her now) and both of Kenmochi Hidefumi's albums (Footwork and Townwork) if you liked them. Kenmochi pretty much did everything for that group from lyrics to production except the last album/EP is where KOM_I is going off to. Kind of tangential, but KKB expressed admiration for them back when they were still using their Japanese name and if it weren't for the language barrier Kenmochi Hidefumi should be bigger. Nujabes signed and called him a virtuoso, he's responsible for finishing Nujabes' last album after he died at his request.
