Everything Burrito posted:that's a really interesting video, especially that they were really obvious about showing what was actually said by the actors so people would know. Was this the show that was also made for international release & not intended to be domestically broadcast so they had more leeway with what they could show? I remember reading about a show with a really low budget that had that situation but don't remember the title of it. idk about this but it has been confirmed that the international release on youtube are a different cut and not as censored as the episodes on the youku app so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

fresh tl and new extras make it worth picking up even if you still have and/or already read the old edition imo I've been seeing some joint promos (jp) with this new edition and Kazuma Kodaka's Border sequel so I'm really hoping if FAKE sells well they'll also put out a new English edition of Border & the sequel since June doesn't hold the license anymore. Info on Sublime reprints on out of stock titles + reprint schedule -- handy if you've been trying to pick something up and it's not in stock anywherequote:The date listed is the date we made the decision to reprint and have started the process to do so. It’ll take about three months from that date for the book to be back on shelves. This is purely an estimate as we don’t have control over the entire process and different printers have different availability. My advice to everyone is to not wait on grabbing our new releases, and if something you want is available right now, grab it! Good luck and happy hunting.

I finally got around to finishing That Blue Sky Feeling and overall I liked and enjoyed it but *man* Noshiro was frustratingly dense nearly the entire time and I kinda wish it had gotten a bit more of a resolution at the end. I also really enjoy Okura's art so it's kind of a bummer he didn't draw this version because the art is kinda bland.

It mostly just leans really hard into the rape-into-love trope which is like, why bother with something like that when there's plenty of stuff now that doesn't do that. It may be the kind of thing that if you can hold your nose long enough to get past that (or don't care) then it improves, I mean Don't Be Cruel managed that, but I wasn't interested enough to find out if it ever leaves the non-con behind.

https://twitter.com/humble/status/1385292520339517440?s=20 I was looking through what's in the bundle and haven't read most of them but these are pretty decent: Hachi/Ritsu Where Night's Blackbird in His Sad Infamy Sings (that other Unohana one is probably decent too but I haven't read it); unfortunately this one didn't have the greatest translation vs the version on Renta, it was pretty stiff and had a lot of typos A Love Story Between My Boss and I & sequel Another Love Story Between My Trainee and I (there's also a 3rd part but it's not included here) A Tempest of Cage is one I bought with some coinback coins on bookwalker but haven't read yet, it looked good at least Everything Burrito fucked around with this message at 03:29 on Apr 23, 2021 |

it's fun re-reading Like the Beast and Hopelessly Devoted from the beginning again. The brother in Hopelessly Devoted is *such* an rear end in a top hat though, I've honestly never liked that couple that much because of what a douche he is and how the other guy is like a doormat to him. I don't care for tsundere characters in general to begin with but I don't remember him having any redeeming qualities to make putting up with his poo poo worth it even if you do like that character type.

https://twitter.com/TheOASG/status/1386348739649052681?s=20 almost forgot about this one being licensed :o it's very fun and also interesting to me that the artist has mostly drawn in the past non-romance delinquent manga, but now he's the artist of the manga version of the Thai BL 2gether and has been working on his own BL manga :3

I'm excited to finally have a copy, I went ahead and preordered a print one :3 Also a reminder Okura also wrote That Blue Sky Feeling which I mentioned upthread a bit, so that's another way to get some of his licensed work. I do wish they hadn't done a redraw with another artist because Okura's art is really charming -- also the tiny cute younger classmate was apparently Very Large in his webcomic version and that dynamic sounds like it could have been really funny.

Kinda related since Tokyopop licenses a lot of BL, but does anyone have any experience with Scribd? It seem like a lot of the recent TP stuff is on there, and considering it's a subscription service as opposed to store I'm kind of curious about it. (I noticed that for example the 'Gentle Noble's Vacation Recommendation' Everything Burrito recced over in the wholesome isekai thread is one of the series on scribd, for example.) I'll probably just check out the free trial, but I was curious if anyone had any prior experience. e: Haha, oh wow. Their web reader doesn't recognize right-to-left content. And it defaults to 2-page layout... with pages on the wrong/opposite side. If you go to vertical mode it'll show 1 page at a time, but doesn't snap to full pages. I guess they just didn't bother accommodating manga content, even though they've got a whole boatload of BL books. App seems to work pretty well however, so that's nice. Super crisp. huh that's interesting -- I'd never looked at it but good to know it's another option. I've been pleasantly surprised at finding some BL manga on kindle unlimited. I see they have this BL research essay collection if you need something else to read I've actually been meaning to buy this but it's like $17 just to get the ebook.

Yeah, I'm honestly really surprised by just how much stuff they actually have there, though a lot of it is quite poorly tagged. A bunch of western indie comics and the like there as well. And yeah, that book looks pretty interesting, might check it out once I've gotten to work through the backlog of stuff I found on there. It's pretty nice that there's a month worth of free trial as well. My primary complaint so far seems to be that tagging and categorization is pretty lacking, since graphic novels is just a tiny subset of the things they offer. So you kinda have to know what you're looking for when you're looking for something, since the suggestions seem to mostly be roundabout 'more from this publisher/series' suggestions, which is a shame. It's kind of annoying that so many publisher-backed services just cannot be bothered with more granular, tag based categorization for things. Having thousands of different comics just bunched up under 'graphic novels' with no further categorization is pretty lame. I guess I've just gotten spoiler by sites like mangadex having pretty granular content+genre tagging, while these big services either expect you to go for the most popular things on the front page, or already know exactly what it is you want. It does seem -almost- all of the tokyopop/BL/Love x Love things are on there. With the odd exception. Which is a pleasant surprise.
