this is one of my favorite bits in the mortal kombat lore they did this as a joke, but realized it wasn't funny, so they later added a mysterious scene where reiko sits in shao kahn's chair and his helmet is lowered onto his head, which started a rumor that reiko was going to be kahn's successor or even that they were the same character the scene was finally explained in konquest mode in mortal kombat: deception, where it was revealed that reiko just likes to sneak into shao kahn's room and sit in his chair and put on his helmet
