Holy poo poo End of the World's set is SO GOOD.

Also totally agree that Yvette Young's set was super good. The raw talent on the guitar was so inspiring.

Incredibly pleased by Secret Sky so far. Biggest disappointment was No Rome. I had been looking forward to his set because I like his singles and that one EP quite a lot, but that was a hella weak perfomance.

Aww yeah, new deadmau5 collab time

e: Really glad Porter broke out Shelter and Sad Machine and that his set isn't entirely new material. I'm still not vibing as hard with all the new stuff. I dig some of the singles, but yeah.

Yeah definitely. It reminds me of the Virtual Self live show (which I was lucky enough to see). Imagine this setup minus the vocals and piano and going way faster. It was seriously one of the coolest live shows I've ever seen.

Okay, so I've listened to Nurture a few times now (and watched Porter's Secret Sky set again) and I'm coming around on it. There are still a few tracks I'm not into and overall I don't think it's nearly as good as Worlds (which I listened to again the other day and I still think is a masterpiece), but there are definitely some earworms on there. For example, I've had Look at the Sky and Musician stuck in my head for days.

well why not

I was kinda mixed on it at first, but it clicked for me the second time through. It's a totally different approach to his other music. Some very catchy parts (all of Musician, Mother, Look at The Sky, Something Comforting) and some pretty ridiculous production. The live show is pretty sick, which really solidified it. I wonder what his live shows will look like in the future. The Shelter tour still managed to drop Say My Name, I wonder if we'll hear Spitfire next to these tunes.

I've seriously woken up every day for the last week humming a Porter Robinson song, he really created some catchy tunes. I'm not wild about a couple songs, especially the one for his GF. But the rest have a great vibe to them and have wired themselves into the old brain jukebox.

Yeah, today I have Mirror stuck in my head. A lot of these songs are fun to whistle, too, which is definitely a sign of catchiness to me.

Honestly it's probably my favorite album of the year so far :shobon: San Holo's album may dethrone it when it drops later this month, but yeah. I'm really liking Nurture a lot the more time goes by.

He gave it an 8/10 (with yellow flannel on which is a signal that he really recommends it) and described it as the "Discovery for this generation" so suffice to say he liked it. He doesn't like EDM/Dance music very much at all generally.

Definitely high praise, especially coming from him. I rewatched his Worlds review and he really didn't care for that album. He gave it a 5/10 and basically said Porter was ripping off his influences. Though interestingly, for as much of a non-EDM guy as he is, he says in that Worlds review that he enjoyed Spitfire, and had Porter kept making more stuff like Spitfire, he probably would've liked it.

Glad he recognizes how great Nurture is. That interview should be interesting for sure.

Sometimes, there's a man, well, he's the man for his time and place. He fits right in there. And that's Jimmy T.
My wife just told me that Pierce Fulton's brother posted to his instagram account saying that Pierce passed away on Thursday last week after a long struggle with mental health issues. The news hit us pretty hard since we were huge fans of his starting several years back and had one of our best night's dancing at a show he did in Sacramento. Here are a few tracks I have been listening to that really bring me back to when I was first introduced to his music.

OK thread, help me decide here: Should I go see Porter in Houston? The ticket would be like $130 (:eyepop:) after fees and tax and poo poo, it's a 6 hour drive there and I'd have to get a hotel for the night.

The new San Holo album is finally out! I've only listened to it all the way through once, and while my first impression is that I like album1 more, I dig this one. It's kinda long and would've benefitted from some editing, but there are many tracks I really like. A few of them were singles that have been out, but I guess that's what happens when you put out like 6 pre-release singles. I'm gonna have to give it another listen tomorrow.
