figured the Braves must be the absolute worst at stupid extras but apparently the Twins are 0-5 in them already

The Padres-Brewers trade that sent Davies and Grisham to San Diego and Urias and Lauer to Milwaukee is definitely one of my favorite trades in recent memory. Trent rules in CF.

Thankfully Urias has been really coming on at shortstop lately and is nearing .800 ops or that trade would have looked real ugly. Grisham was a really weird minor league path so not surprised Brewers sold high when he finally had a breakout, but still glad he is doing well.

I was hoping that Wicho would man the keystone for the Padres alongside Tatis, but Cronenworth is a much better option. The Padres have a bunch of potential good infielders with Kim in the majors and Marcano and Abrams in the minors. With Machado and Tatis occupying 3B and SS for the foreseeable future, there are only so many spots. Trent hits, plays elite defense, and has solved the CF dilemma that the Padres have had for a long time.

Yeah time will tell how good of a trade that was but so far it seems like a win-win. Urķas is really starting to hit and has one of the best veteran middle infielders in the business as a teammate, Grisham is doing well in SD, and both teams converted their young talent in a crowded part of their roster into a young talent also filling a need.

Plus, the Padres got a great year out of Davies in 2020 and then turned him into Darvish

Another reason I love that trade and the madness that is AJ Preller. After having some really awful GMs (Byrnes, Hoyer, and Towers), Preller has transformed the club from perennial joke to intriguing baseball club both in-season and during the off-season.
